Page 86 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
EMILY’S POV.
The kids and I went to Lucas’ room where a table was set up, and chairs were arranged around it.
“We’re going to have a party. We’re celebrating Emily, and Derella’s freedom.” Sadie said, sharing glasses around.
“Emily no longer has to act like she’s engaged to our cheat of a cousin named John, and Derella can at least be herself when she’s home. She can happily watch her favorite celebrity Ariana Delacroix on Timmy Darien’s show, and declare her undying love for her.” She said, and everyone laughed.
“I like Ariana, but why would I like someone who doesn’t even know I exist?” Derella asked, as Sadie poured pineapple juice into her glass.
“You’re right on that, but you’re better than I am. You wouldn’t believe I’m crushing on Hiccup from how to train your dragon.” She said, and we all burst into laughter.
“Derella likes someone who doesn’t know she exists, and Sadie likes someone who doesn’t exist.” Jude said, and Derel pushed her, as he laughed.
“That’s brutal.” He said.
“Now that we’re all here. I’m announcing a mission I’ve taken upon myself, and it is to match make Lucas, and Emily.”
“What?” Derella asked in shock.
“Shocked? Don’t be. It’s my decision.” Sadie said, slicing apples for everyone.
“Why would you do that?” Derel asked.
“Have you seen them together?” Sadie asked, looking at Derel like he was unbelievable.
“Yes! They look good.” Jude said, excitedly. “She does look good with John too, but John’s kind of a jerk.” She added.
“You don’t have a say in it, right?” Derella asked me.
“She won’t even let me say a word against it, there’s no stopping her.” I replied, sipping my drink.
“Let her be, Sadie. Unless you have to match make me with Katie too.” Derella said.
“I would have done that for you and more, Derella, but Katie’s not gay. She likes someone else.” Sadie said, and I tried to stop her, but she shrugged it off.
“Oh.” Derella said.
“Still, you should let her know how you feel, and who knows, I might connect you with someone else who feels the same as you, but is scared to come out. You both can talk about how it feels.”
“I think I’d like that.” Derella said, thinking about it.
“You can share experiences, and target girls together, and you might even like each other. It’ll be nice to vent to each other. You can also let her know how nice Katie is.” Sadie added, and Derella smiled.
“Introduce us. We’ll make great friends.”
Just then the door opened, and Lucas and Sadie came in with food on trays.
“Whoa!” Jude exclaimed, and the children began to clap.
“Ricotta and Sausage Pasta at your service.” Katie said smiling, as she began to scoop the pasta into bowls for everyone.
“Drink, drink, drink!” Sadie shouted, pouring more drinks for everyone.
“How do the both of you feel?” Lucas asked me and Derella and we both laughed.
“Great.” I said, looking at Derella.
“Also great. I feel free, and better.” She replied.
“Hurray to No Mandy!” Derel said, raising his glass of juice, and we all made a toast to it. I had fruit wine, and Katie and Lucas had beer.
We began to eat and they all talked, laughing. They all looked so happy. Lucas was teasing Jude about something, and Derella was arguing with Sadie about something. Derel was talking to Katie about something that made him keep blushing, and I was content staring at them.
At first, I had felt so alone in the mansion, but at the moment, but I didn’t feel alone. Sadie had been the first to reach out to me, and back then, I didn’t understand her language.
Sadie liked me, but her way of liking someone was different. She always started with bullying. Now I knew just how much she liked me, even though she wouldn’t stop bullying me.
“Alright, so how does it feel to be different? How does it feel to like girls?” Sadie asked.
“Hmm, it hurts to feel different. I actually went around dating a lot of boys, trying to find one to fall head over heels in love with, but it was impossible. I kept getting attracted to girls. Their pretty faces, soft skins, sweet-smelling hair, flashy earrings, elegant shapes…
“I just liked everything about girls, especially the naughty ones with soft voices who pretended to be angels. Then, I began to like someone else. A true angel, soft-spoken, beautiful, elegant, respectful, and a role model. She’s a lot older than me, but I’d like it even if she gave me just an approving look.”
“Who’s that?” Sadie asked, with a smile.
“Don’t start.” Derella said, and everyone began to laugh.
“Start what? Is the person you like here?” Sadie asked, and Jude stuffed her mouth with pasta.
“Eat, and enjoy. You don’t need to be a little devil tonight.” She said to Sadie, who giggled at Derella’s red face.
“Lucas’ bed is big enough for us to sleep in tonight. Let’s all sleep here.” Derel said.
“All?” Lucas asked in shock.
“Yes, me, everyone, you and Emily, will be sleeping together.” Sadie said, and I choked on my pasta, making Sadie laugh out loud. She was doing it on purpose.
“Some will stay on the floor, some on the sofas, others on the bed.” Jude suggested.
“You’ll be staying, right?” Derella asked Katie.
“Uh…”
“She’s staying!” Sadie squealed and began to clap. Jude and Derel joined, and Derella smiled.
Katie smiled, and poured a drink for Lucas.
They all continued to talk about different things, and Lucas pointed to Katie’s drink, saying something. She laughed, and shook her head, then he pointed to her cheeks.
She shook her head again, and laughed. He also laughed, and poured her a drink, but she shook her head laughing. They continued to laugh, and eventually, she drank it, and closed her eyes.
Then they both laughed again.
I didn’t like it.
Why?
Emily, why?? What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you like it? I asked myself, wondering why I didn’t like the fact that Lucas was laughing without me.
Oh… I wanted him to laugh with me, and not Katie….
Ohh… I was jealous.
