JOHN’S POV.

The sun shone into my room, lighting the whole place, and I turned on my bed, giving a loud yawn. Ever since the plan sweet Darcy had given me, I had been a little optimistic, and giddy towards the outcome.

A knock.

“Come in.” I said, and Katie walked in.

“I’m here.” She said. I had called for her early in the morning, but didn’t know she’d come quickly.

“What time did I call you?”

“Around seven-thirty.”

“Oh, it’s some minutes after eight.” I said, looking at the clock. “Well, let’s leave that aside. I want you to search for beach houses near Olive High School. The prices, and how much it would cost for like three days.” I said, leaning against the headboard.

“Right now?” She asked, and I nodded.

“Take your seat. I want the report now.”

She looked around briefly, before settling into a sofa, and began to tap away at her phone. I watched her.

She had changed a lot. Was it wanting to be more for Lucas that changed her, or the arrival of competition? She never opposed me whenever I asked her to sleep with me. I knew she didn’t like it, but she always did it anyway.

She was a cute, harmless cat, but little did I know that even the cat had claws.

“I got the prices.” She said, getting to her feet. She showed me her phone and I checked them out. “Why are you suddenly asking for beach prices?” She asked.

“Oh, I’ll tell you later. You don’t need to worry about it.”

“Are you sure I don’t need to worry? This is just out of the blue.” She insisted.

“Yeah, I know it is, but trust me, it’s going to bring good results. Book this one for me. For three days.” I said, handing the phone back to her, and she took it slowly, while staring at me.

She left, and I called in the maids to clean my room.

“You there.” I pointed.

“Yes, Alpha?”

“What’s your name?”

“Tracy.” She replied.

“Pick out three outfits you’d want your man to wear on a date.” I said, and she looked from me to the wardrobe with uncertainty.

She turned to the wardrobe, and tucked her short hair behind her neck.

She picked a chestnut sweatshirt that matched with her hair, and white pants.

“Something casual for the first day.”

Then, she picked out a blue jean jacket, pants, then a white T-shirt.

“Something cool for the second day.”

Then she picked out a blue tuxedo.

“Something elegant for the last day.” She said, and turned to me. “This is just my opinion. I don’t know if you’d like it.”

“Perfect.” I said, taking the clothes from her, with a smile. “You sure know how to do your thing. You’re free to take a day off. Tell whoever’s in charge that I said so.” I said, and she folded her lips, trying to hide her smile, but it couldn’t be hidden.

“Thank you so much, Alpha John!” She squealed, and bounced away.

“Pack these up, with some shoes.” I told the other maids, and went down to have breakfast. Emily, and Lucas were talking about having peas in their broth or leafy vegetables. It seemed like a debate. Sadie sat next to them, looking discontent.

I was served with meat broth, rice, and steamed vegetables. It was perfect for the weather.

“You look good today.” Sadie said, and I looked at the random white T-shirt and pants I had put on before going to sleep the previous night.

“In this?” I asked her.

“You’re absolutely handsome.” She said, and I glanced at Emily, who had fallen silent. She took a look at my clothes, and dismissed them.

“Would you be kind enough to give me some money, John?” Sadie asked, and Lucas chuckled.

“So this is what it was all about. It’s unlike you to compliment someone.” Lucas said.

“I do compliment people a lot. Only when they deserve it.” She said,

“Yeah, he deserves it because he’ll give you money.”

“John.” Sadie called.

“I thought we were enemies. After you spilled my chat to the whole family.”

“Oh come on, Blood doesn’t hold grudges. So what do you say?” She asked, and I rolled my eyes.

“Do you have an account?”

“I don’t.”

“Come back when you do.” I said, and Lucas laughed.

“This is no fun!” Sadie snapped, pushing her broth towards me. It spilled on my hands, and she got up from her seat, and stomped away angrily. I watched her leave, keeping myself seated because if I stood, then nothing would stop me from ripping her apart.

Then Lucas rose, “Enjoy your breakfast, John.” He said, taking his jacket. He left, and I sighed, before proceeding to wipe my hand with a napkin.

The maids came over to me, and helped clean the mess on the table, while Emily ate in silence.

“We’re going to work together. Wait for me. I have a few things to do.” I said to Emily, who looked discontent.

Shortly, I had her next to me in my car, driving to work.

“The snow is quite a lot, isn’t it? Christmas is almost here. Are you celebrating it with Dahlia?” I asked.

“Hopefully.”

“Do you still keep in touch with her? The poor lady must have missed you.” I said, “Do you still talk to her?” I asked, when she didn’t reply.

“Yes.”

“What do you think of my outfit?”

“Great.” She replied, without even looking.

“You didn’t even look.”

“Shouldn’t you know that I do not want to talk to you? If I wanted to talk, then I’d have answered better.” She snapped.

“You have to talk, Emily. I can’t just keep talking to myself. We’re two in the car.”

“Then drop me off. I’m capable of paying for my own taxi.”

“You should stop being so difficult, Emily.”

“Maybe when you stop being so easy, I’ll stop being difficult.”

“Wait, wait… if I get you right, you’re trying to imply I’m easy because I sleep around? Hey, I don’t do that anymore.”

“I don’t care.” She replied.

“Well, in that case, I wanted to inform you to prepare for a three-day trip. You and I have somewhere to go.” I said, and oh, how I loved the look of shock radiant on her face.

Just me and her alone… For three days.
