Page 169 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
JOHN’S POV.
It couldn’t be possible. That was too bad.
“Okay, Lopez. You know what? Let’s just leave her out of this. Talk to me one on one like a man.”
“I believe I did that already. If it worked, we wouldn’t be here now. Last year, I tried so much to reach out to you, but you were so tight with things. Look at us. I even lied to be Tommy just to see you. We have come to this juncture, and we can’t go back.”
“Let’s do some kind of bargaini…” My words were cut off, as he ended the call.
I quickly dialed the number again, but I was redirected to voicemail.
I kicked my chair hard ,and proceeded to phone the men. Sharing it with them would make it less annoying, and fearful.
They arrived, minutes after calling them, and we all sat in my room.
“If he really kills Emily and somehow managed to splay her organs on the roof, I would be done for. Nothing would save me if these people think I killed her, and… and it’s not my intention to have her killed either.
I still want her around, so she can regret her decision till she dies.
” I lamented, and they looked speechless.
“But he… he can’t really do that, can he?” Rebal asked.
“This man has a scar on his face, and several men that have criminal records. I looked into him a year ago, and was quite sure he was involved in the darker shades of business. He’s not someone to mess with. He abducted Emily, and definitely did something to the men with her.”
“That’s quite true. I tried calling the men, but their calls weren’t going through. I just didn’t think anything bad could have happened to her.
“What am I going to do? What will become of me when I pay off Lopez’s debt? That is just way too much. I mean, it’s a whole two hundred and fifty million dollars! Everything will fall apart. Not when sales have been reducing.”
“Couldn’t you ask Alpha Raymond for help?” Rebal asked.
“We fought earlier. He’s angry about the video of me hitting an employee. He also thinks I’m going to tell him where Lucas is if he gets angry. That would never happen. He will not help me out. No one would. Everything is going down on an awfully wrong slope.”
“What about going to the bank?” Landon suggested.
“Ah no, I can’t go to the bank. How do you expect me to pay back with the interest they’d demand?” I asked, waving off the idea immediately.
“But we have to do something or this man might really make you a murderer overnight. With the video floating around on the internet, everyone is going to believe it quite easily. No one will stand on your side.” Landon said, making quite some sense.
I still couldn’t get how Lopez would manage to drop Emily’s mutilated body on my roof, but I knew he could do it.
If he said it, then he would know how to do it.
The employee I hit had been saying something about a rumor—the rumor that I sent Lucas off to a mental institute, and had been maltreating Emily.
She had been right, but if Emily suddenly landed dead on my rooftop, then the rumor would blow out of proportion, and also, I didn’t want Emily dead yet.
Sure; lots of times, I had been so angry I wanted to end her, but even if I wanted to, I wanted it to be with my own hands.
“What about the video? Did you find out which crazy employee uploaded it? Their foolish social media accounts shouldn’t be hard to track.” I asked, looking at Rebal.
“Uh, it’s actually not an employee. I traced it to a really strong and popular website, then traced that to a company named FT Enterprises(Future Tech.) That company, I discovered, is one of our competitors, and a really powerful one.
All their products have blown past the walls of the international market.
I’m quite sure they have a spy in here. They uploaded the video. ”
“Why are you just telling me that?” I snapped. “Dang! How many enemies did I manage to make? So this company is bigger than us?”
“Yes.” Rebal replied.
“Damn it! I’m the only one who ought to be the most powerful here.
No one else is allowed to take my spot. Look into their CEO well.
As for the maids, they’re the only ones who can upload that drunk video.
The car I smashed was Lucas’ old car here in the mansion.
” I got to my feet, and made for the door.
The maids were in their quarters when I went to them. They were speaking, but stopped immediately they saw me walking in.
They got to their feet, and I tossed my phone to one of them. She caught it like it was a ticking time bomb, and looked at me with fear in her green eyes.
“Explain that. There’s a video of me bashing Lucas’ car, and one of me drunk and ranting in the dark. I’m quite sure that was taken here in the house.” I accused, and they all looked from me to the phone, shaking their heads in terror.
“Which one of you is a spy!? Which of you took and uploaded the video?” I asked, advancing on them, and they backed into the wall.
I dragged Kaye by the hair, bringing her out.
“Ah! I had nothing to do with it. I swear. Never would I do such unless I’m prepared to die. I wouldn’t do that. My phone’s camera isn’t even as good as that. It’s not my doing.” She cried, pressing down her hair to her scalp.
“Alpha John.” I heard someone call. It was one of the guards.
I left Kaye and turned to him.
“Yes?”
“There’s a parcel for you.” He said, handing out a blue parcel.
“Keep it in my room. Who the heck is sending me a parcel.” I said, feeling disturbed.
“It was from a certain Tommy Bodin.” He replied, and my eyes shot open.
I snatched the parcel from his hands, placing it on a table, and tore it apart, opening it.
In it was the unmistakable long wave of Emily’s brown hair.
My eyes widened. Her… hair… gone.
There was a little note in it, and it read,
