EMILY’S POV.

It felt like something was roaring inside my chest instead of my heart.

“Pregnant? Bullshit. Are you pregnant, Emily? Are we expecting a baby bump?” Sadie asked, and I looked at her. Then, it hit me.

“No. No baby bump. I’m not pregnant.” I said, like I was just realizing it. I had never been happier to say the truth so sweetly.

“Lucas?” Alpha Raymond asked.

“You heard her.” Lucas replied.

“I can do a test. A pregnancy test.” I said, immediately.

“She’s never puked in front of me.” Sadie said.

“I don’t think I’ve seen her sick in the morning.” Derel chipped in.

“Mandy’s looking for people to drag down. Why would Emily be pregnant for Lucas?” Derella asked, and scoffed.

“She didn’t look sick when she picked me up from school.” Jude put in.

“I’m not pregnant.”

“You are! Sadie said it!” Mandy blurted out.

“That was only to lead you on to destruction. Because I hate seeing your annoying face, and wanted you gone. Emily said you can do a test. Why don’t you do it?” Sadie asked, confidently.

“You didn’t really think she was pregnant for me, did you?” Lucas asked Mandy with a smile. She looked like she was asked to swallow bile.

“She’s… she’s pregnant.” She said, weakly.

“Guards!” Lady Genevieve shouted. “Take her out.”

“No, wait! They were acting suspicious! Sadie wanted Emily to kiss Lucas. Emily refused, and Sadie said it wasn’t a big deal when she was already pregnant for him!” She screamed, as the guards marched towards her, and Sadie laughed.

“What a pity. If you stuck with being my underling, I could have made you into a successful author by now.” Sadie mocked.

“Wait!” Mandy said, moving away from the guards.

“Escort her to Damien’s house. In the morning, we’re going to deal with her.” Lady Genevieve said, and the guards took hold of her.

“Wait, please. Don’t do this to me!” Mandy begged, as she fought with the guards.

“Sleeping with him when you’re not family? We don’t need someone like you that can taint our family. What will happen if this gets out? Will you handle it? Will you take responsibility? How dare you crazy whore set foot in out family, and try to decieve us while eyeing our riches!?” Lady Mira asked in rage, and I could see Katie growing more uncomfortable by the moment.

“John! You started this! You forced me into it!” Mandy screamed, as she was dragged away. “John! John!! Say something! You should check the chats, scroll upwards! He asked for it, and bugged me for it.” She screamed, but her noise faded, as she taken out of sight, and eventually out of the mansion.

“I beg you!” Was the final screech we heard.

“You found yourself a good lying whore.” Lucas said.

“Why have you always been around Lucas!? If you hadn’t, she wouldn’t have had the guts to accuse you of something like that!” John shouted at him, and Lady Genevieve hit his head.

He turned to her, looking hurt.

“You are a disgrace.” She said, with gritted teeth. “Such pictures were displayed in front of your wife, and you can’t do anything, but speak that way to her?” She asked.

“What were you planning to do if this got out? You were chatting embarrassingly with such a girl. What if she decided one day to upload it all shamelessly?” Lady Mira asked.

“I am speechless. You seem to have lost your mind, John.” Alpha Will said, looking at his food like he would take it and overturn it on John’s head. “You’re not a man. A man who cheats is not a man.” He added.

“You disgust me!” Lady Genevieve spat at him.

“She’s unfaithful too. It’s not just me. She also has a fault.” John said, looking at me angrily.

“What fault?” I asked.

“You and Lucas. You think flocking around him is normal? No, it’s not. It’s proof that something funky is going on.”

“We’re friends.” I defended myself.

“You can’t be friends with Lucas!”

“I can. I can be friends with Lucas because I, unlike you, have not been unfaithful. You are the one who cheated, who broke the trust. You’re the one who made everything go wrong.”

“I didn’t make anything wrong.”

“You must be kidding me.” I retorted, feeling disgusted by him.

“For goodness’ sake, Sadie take off that rubbish!” Lady Mira snapped, and Sadie immediately began to work on the laptop.

She took it off, and the screen was returned to being blank.

“You don’t seem surprised.” Alpha Will pointed out to me.

“I’m not.” I replied.

“You’re not?” He asked, and I looked at Katie, who was sweating already, and staring at her plate. Lucas caught my gaze, and shook his head slightly.

“I knew he was cheating.” I replied, looking away from Katie.

“You knew?” Lady Genevieve asked.

“But he didn’t stop. He didn’t mind letting me know. I knew about he and Mandy. He was open about it. John has not been the fiancé you all thought he was. That’s why I’m here right now, gathering all my confidence because I’m about to say something.” I said, not meeting their scary eyes.

I was no longer going to care. Even if it felt like my heart would burst at that moment, and I got the strange, and unexplainable urge to cry, I was going to do things my way.

Long gone were the moments when John was my everything, my hope of a love-filled future. I had only wanted to be in beautiful places with him, and I had been blind to all his shortcomings.

Truly, I was going to let go of it all. I wanted to forget him truly, and move on. As I thought that, I looked up at Lucas, who gave me a smile.

He may be a friend, but he was going to replace John.

“Tonight, I am breaking off my engagement with John.” I said, and John’s mouth fell. He didn’t expect me to ever be able to say the truth to his family.

“Why?” Alpha Will asked, like he couldn’t understand me.

I replied, “The reason occupied the screen seconds ago.”
