Page 81 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
EMILY’S POV.
I scrolled upwards to a safe place where they had talked about Katie, and took my hand off Sadie’s eyes.
“What was on it?” She snapped.
“I guess your eight-year-old brain can’t guess.” George teased, and she made to scroll, but we both swatted her hand away.
“Something really dirty. Something like what you saw him doing in the garden.” I said, and her little fingers flew to her mouth.
“She is so screwed.” She said, excitedly, and screamed in happiness. “We have to copy everything onto a flashdrive. You have one, George?” She asked.
“You know how to use it?” He asked, and she stuffed her hands into his bag.
“Don’t joke with me.” She replied.
“Wait, shouldn’t we just threaten her with this, and send her away quietly?” I asked.
“Going soft? You’re free. I never go soft. She’s going to get double. She was disrespectful to me, and gloated about Derella being gay. There’s no way I’m letting her off easily. If she could show John her body, then it won’t be that embarrassing to show the family, would it?” She asked, and I coughed at the thought of it.
“Brutal, but still.”
“Sssss!” She hissed ferociously. “Don’t say more, or we become enemies. I’m just going to prepare my clothes for dinner.” She said, happily, and danced away.
“Don’t forget your promise.” George called after her.
“I’ll hire someone to do it.” She replied, still dancing away.
“No, you promised to do it yourself.” He said, and she turned.
“Fine! It’s just a silly love letter, why can’t you write it yourself?” She snapped, and walked out.
He smiled to himself, and returned to his laptop.
“I’ll have to leave. I’ll be…”
“You’re leaving me here alone?” He asked.
“I have to inform someone about our progress. I’ll be right back.” I said, and he nodded.
I searched for Lucas after leaving Sadie’s mansion, and found him in the library, looking over some books.
“Lucas.” I called, looking around, as I walked quickly to him.
“Hey.”
“I was searching for you.”
“I wanted to see you too. I think I’m going to order Mandy out. John has no say over this mansion, and I think it’s better if she leaves.” He said, but I shook my head with a smile.
“That’s fine. I have everything under control. Don’t you worry about a thing. Everything’s going well.” I assured him.
“Everything’s going well? How?”
“I found a way to make her bow out. If she won’t bow out, she’d be forced to. Actually, Sadie’s not giving her a chance to bow out on her own, so I guess she would be forced to.” I explained.
“What do you have on her? Is it something strong?”
“Super strong.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a surprise.” I said, smiling. “I shouldn’t be smiling because it’s something really cruel, but…” I giggled. “Why am I giggling? Sadie and I are being really wicked.” I said, shocked at how much I couldn’t wait for Mandy to be humiliated.
She had done enough for me to leave Sadie to it. Well, not that I could argue against Sadie anyway.
“Is it really something that good?” He asked, smiling and leaning against the shelf, and I nodded.
“Trust me. If not me, then Sadie.” I said, and he laughed.
“Then I’ll leave you both to take care of Mandy.” He said, and I smiled before turning and walking away.
Finally, we could leave Mandy, and not have to worry about anyone watching us. We’d have dinner again.
As I thought of dinner with him on the rooftop, my heart skipped a beat, and I blushed.
“Of course, he’s a charming friend. Handsome too.” I said to myself, smiling, and made my way back to Sadie’s mansion.
She was lecturing George about something when I got there.
“Oh right, Emily, we have a problem.” She said, turning to me.
“Problem? I just assured Lucas he…”
“Stay calm. The problem is… we need to be inside instead of outside. How do we do that?”
“Oh yeah, they love eating outside. Well, you could convince them to have dinner inside.” I suggested.
“They won’t listen.” She replied.
“Who else will they listen to if not you?”
“That’s true. I can say it’s too cold, and I feel like I’m coming down with a cold.” She said, and bounced out of the room.
I sat on a sofa, and saw a note on the table.
“Yours?” I asked George, and he smiled.
“Sadie’s.”
“Oh… Her handwriting is quite nice. Wait, I thought you wanted her to help you write a love letter. Is that it?” I asked, and he blushed.
“Yeah.”
“Why would you give an eight-year-old a letter to write?” I asked, and he smiled.
“I told her to write it in a way that would make a girl’s heart flutter.”
“And you trust her on that?”
“It’s hers. I’m going to give it to her sometime in the future. See if she refuses the letter she wrote herself.” He said, and I burst out laughing.
“Why, that’s romantic.” I said, and he blushed.
“Isn’t it embarrassing? A sixteen-year-old boy liking an eight-year-old girl.”
“Totally not.”
“No?”
“Think about it. When you’re twenty-eight, she’d be twenty. Tell me, does it have so much difference now?” I asked, and he laughed.
“No, it doesn’t. Is Sadie a good choice?”
“Well, get prepared to be blackmailed a lot.” I said, and he laughed.
“She’s done that to me a million times already.”
“Then get ready for a billion.” I said, laughing, and he joined.
Then he received a call.
“Shit. I gotta go. Mom’s calling.” He said, getting up.
“Oh, I’ll inform Sadie.” I said, and we both left the room.
I made my way back to our mansion to prepare myself for dinner, and as I opened the door to the foyer, I met Mandy.
“You’re still here?” She asked, looking annoyed.
“Yes.” I replied, and walked past her, but stopped, and spoke without turning, “Also, I wanted to say; Do your worst, Mandy.”
