Page 83 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
EMILY’S POV.
I could feel the shock in the air. It was stiff and tense. Even Lucas had stopped eating. John looked like he had heard news of someone dying. Lady Genevieve stared at Mandy like she was trying to decipher if she was saying the truth of not.
Lady Mira’s jaw was open, and Alpha Will and Alpha Raymond were expressionless.
“What are you saying?” Alpha Raymond asked her, dropping his cutlery.
“I’m saying…”
“Wait, wait, wait… you mean what you just said?” Lady Mira asked.
“Yes, it is a hundred percent true.” Mandy replied, feeling more confident by the moment.
“Mandy, stop spinning lies. It’s not nice.” Katie said, but I knew she only wanted someone to tell her it wasn’t true.
“They’re not lies, Katie. Do I look like I would come here, and spill crazy nonsense? I said it because everyone deserves to know the truth.” Mandy replied, and I swallowed.
It was over. She had said it before we could play her nasty videos. We were doomed. There was nothing we could do at that juncture.
“You’re saying Emily is pregnant right now?” Alpha Raymond asked.
“For John?” Lady Mira asked.
“For Alpha Lucas.” Mandy said, and Lucas gave a little scoff, sitting back in his chair, and crossing his legs.
“Why do you say that?” Alpha Will asked.
“Sadie let me know. You can ask her. She’s always too happy to have people’s secrets anyway.” She said, and Sadie placed a hand on her waist, looking at Mandy, like Mandy was a kid craving attention in the wrong way.
“So Emily is…” Alpha Raymond began.
“Can you all just stop? First, let’s address something else. Derella, is that true? Tell me, it’s not, and I’ll rip off her tongue.” Lady Genevieve said. She had been distracted ever since Mandy had spoken at first.
She had only been trying to grasp and make sense of everything.
“Mom…” Derella began, and I saw her fidgeting with her fingers under the table.
“No, Derel, tell me. Is your sister gay? She likes girls?” She asked, and Derel glanced at Derella.
“I’m gay.” Derella said, looking at her fingers.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Lady Genevieve asked.
“I was scared. It’s not what you’d want for the family. If the public knows…”
“Since when did you know this?”
“Three years? Two? Maybe.”
“Think more about this, Genevieve. You both should think about this and have a talk.” Alpha Will said, and Lady Genevieve blinked continuously.
“I’m not mad. I’m just shocked. I didn’t know… but… you don’t have to keep stuff like that from me. I’m your mother.”
“But you were going to go crazy.” Derella said.
“I’m not going crazy right now, am I? I’m not. Talk to me when you need to. I’m… I’m just a little disappointed, but… I… I can’t do anything about it. It’s your life, your choices, it’s… who you are. I can’t change it.”
“Really? You’re not getting mad?”
“How can I? When a friend of mine lost her daughter to suicide because her daughter came out, and she went bonkers? Just don’t harm yourself, I’m not mad. I’ll just need time.” Lady Genevieve said, and it was obvious to all that she was still struggling to accept the truth.
Derella gave a little smile.
“Thanks, Mandy.” She said to Mandy who looked like she had lost one of her most treasured pair of earrings.
“But don’t… don’t go around saying it. It can’t come out to the public.” Lady Genevieve added.
“I know. I don’t intend to.” Derella replied.
“Now, can we return to the crazy thing Mandy is saying?” John asked impatiently.
“Okay, okay, wait! I have something to say!” Sadie jumped in.
“Not now, Sadie. We have to…” Lady Mira began.
“No, I’m not backing down. What I’m about to say is just as important!” She screamed.
“What, you’re gay too?” Alpha Raymond asked, looking annoyed.
“I’m not gay! Heck, I don’t even know if I like guys either. I need to talk.”
“Later!” Lady Genevieve shouted.
“Now! It’s important. Just listen to me!” Sadie shouted back.
“Sadie, not now. Everyone is serious.” Jude said, reaching out to Sadie, who went out of reach.
“I’m also serious. Listen to me, first! Just calm down, and hear me out, okay?”
“Sadie, stop!” John bellowed, and Sadie began to scream loud. “Sadie!” John shouted.
She continued to scream out loud, and the maids began to pay more attention.
“We’ll listen!” Alpha Raymond shouted, and she stopped abruptly.
“Thank you! Now look at this.” She said, taking out George’s laptop. She connected it to the projector, and I was surprised just how much she knew about computers.
It was our only hope. Maybe they’d just forgive us all.
Sharp gasps pushed me out of my imagination, and I looked up to see Mandy’s nude pictures on the screen.
John’s eyes looked like they would fall, and Mandy had a hand on her chest, like she would have an attack.
Lucas looked at me, raising a brow, but I couldn’t smile. I only squeezed my face because I didn’t know my fate yet.
Sadie played a video of Mandy taking off her clothes, and everyone began to shout.
“Sadie!” Lady Mira screamed.
“I’m not looking.” Sadie said, even though she was the one displaying it.
Everyone was horrified. All their sexting was revealed.
Then John got up, and Sadie immediately kept the laptop.
“It’s not mine. Don’t you dare touch it.” She said, hiding it behind her.
“Is that you?” Alpha Will asked Mandy, who looked like she was searching for a window to jump out through.
“That’s…” John was saying, but Alpha Raymond threw a fork his way, and the fork sliced his cheek, as it went past.
“I’m… I just…” Mandy was saying.
“You are disgusting. Is that you?” Lady Genevieve asked.
“Open your mouth!” Lady Mira shouted.
“Yes, it’s me!” Mandy replied, in fear, looking like she was about to cry.
“You were having an affair with your boss, and he has a fiancée?” Lady Genevieve asked.
“While acting like an angel to his family, hitting on his uncle, and eyeing their money.” Alpha Will said, relating the story Lucas had shared.
“Then, the story about Emily is true too?” Lady Genevieve asked.
“You’re dead.” Lady Mira said vehemently. “Now, you.” She said, turning to me, and I swallowed.
It was time.
