LUCAS’ POV.
His footsteps approached my door hastily.
“Where the hell did you put my wife!?” He asked, and Emily’s eyes went wide with fear. She rolled off me, and immediately snatched her T-shirt from the bed.
She made for the bathroom at first, but changed her mind as John’s footsteps got dangerously near. Her feet went in the opposite direction, and she hid behind the drapes.
I on the other hand, took my shirt, and put it on. I had just sat on the bed when my door was pushed open.
“You should knock.” I said, in a low rumbling voice.
“Where is Emily? Where the hell did you guys go to?” He asked, angrily.
I got up, and walked towards him, digging my hands into my pockets. Through my side-eye, I caught movement behind the drapes, and leaned in closer to John to distract him.
“Is that beer I smell on you? Isn’t it way too early to be drinking?” I asked, moving backwards, as he hit me with beer breath as each word tumbled out of his mouth.
“We just got married. We should be together! But I’m quite sure you’ve been hiding her from me. She is always with you. Friends or not, that must stop. She is now a married woman, and her husband will not tolerate such.” He bellowed, pointing his index at me.
“You should find her elsewhere, John. Coming here was useless.” I tried fixing a flat expression on my face, wanting him to leave quickly.
“I’m quite sure you’re aware of the Alpha Marriage, and the consequences of doing anything to defy it.”
“Yes, I’m fully aware.” I replied coldly, “Despite what you did, John. You still have the guts to call her your wife. Drugging her was very wrong, and I’d arrest you if only I had proof.”
“But you don’t. Not a single soul witnessed what went on, and Emily cannot be believed by anyone. From now on, whatever I do to Emily is my business, and you should stay out of it. She’s mine now. We are officially married, and my ring is on her finger.” He said, making me chuckle.
He had no idea his ring was probably a thousand feet beneath the sea.
“Right now, you’re making me think of hurting her badly, just to kill off the laughter from your voice.”
“Try it.” My voice took on a dangerous tone. “As long as I’m still here, hale and hearty, if you touch even a hair on her head, you will get what’s coming to you.” I threatened, and he looked even angrier.
“You are willing to hurt your nephew for a woman?”
“A woman who didn’t deserve the unfair things you did to her. A woman who didn’t deserve your wickedness.” I replied, feeling my insides heat up with anger. He didn’t show any sign of remorse, and continued to look at me with those searching blue eyes piercing through mine. “Did you even love her?”
“How dare you question my love?” He asked, and I laughed.
“Love? You call that love? You’re crazy.”
“And you’re shameless. How could you dare to like the woman I like? She was mine from the start. This is no proper way to behave Lucas.
“Unfortunately, the heart cannot be controlled. I met Emily before you introduced her to me.”
“What?”
“To be precise, I met her on the night she discovered you cheated on her with Katie.”
“You are kidding me.”
“That’s not all. I discovered that we happen to share a mate.”
“What? Damn you, Lucas! Emily is not your mate!” He spat, with his lips twitching.
“Are you the one to tell me that? You’re nuts. Get out.”
“I know exactly what to do.”
“Get out, John.” I said, expressionlessly, and he walked out, slamming the door as he went.
Finally, Emily came out from behind the drapes.
“I wish I never met such a jerk like him.” She said, staring at the door, with anger in her eyes. “As for self defense. You don’t mind if I carry Tasers around, do you?” She asked, and I smiled.
“If you have pepper sprays, you can carry them around too.” I said.
“I will. John’s crazy. He’s the real shameless one. Despite the amount of love, commitment and honesty I poured into our relationship, this is all he can turn out to be.”
“This is who he has always been. It just took a lot to bring the real him out.” I replied, and she rolled her eyes.
“He gets on my nerves.” She spat.

The next morning, just as I got into my car, ready to go to work, Will stopped me.
“You have some time?” He asked, knocking on my windows.
“Yes, you want to come in?” I asked, and he nodded. I opened the door, and he came in.
“So, I’m guessing you have time for a little cup of tea, right?”
“Yes, I do. Is there something you have to tell me?”
“Yes. Drive to the nearest coffee shop. Let’s have a little chat.” He said, and I wondered why he didn’t just say whatever he had to say in the car. No matter how private what he wanted to say was, the car was more private.
Shortly, we arrived at the coffee shop, and sat near the window.
“A cup of latte please.” I ordered.
“Chamomile.” Will replied calmly, and the waitress nodded, leaving to take our orders. “Do you come to this café often?” He asked, looking around.
“Yes. They make one of the nicest beverages here.” I replied, and he looked at the pastries, and desserts. “Should I order one? I know you have a sweet tooth.” I said, and he chuckled.
“Maybe I’ll return here sometime, and just check out the things they have.” He replied, and not too long after, our orders were brought to us.
Will took a sip of his tea, and I waited patiently for him to say whatever it was he wanted to say.
“I bet you’re wondering what exactly it is I want to say.” He began.
“Yes.”
“You don’t need to. I think you know it already.” He said, taking another sip.
“I do? What is it?” I asked, and he placed his cup gently on the table; his face took on a more serious expression, and he looked at me like he would a child who never listened.
“I know about you and Emily’s affair.”
