EMILY’S POV.

The look on John’s face was one of glee, as he narrated his horrible story.

“It’s over! It’s over when I click this.

” He bragged, then began to laugh. “Lucas, what happened to your face.” He laughed again.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Why?

You don’t like this? I get it, I really do.

You’re just reuniting with your lover after spending over a year apart, but now she’s about to be blown into bits and pieces. ”

Slowly, he moved backwards. “Don’t move, Lucas. It won’t take me a second to click on this. Make a move, and I’ll run. Right before you catch me, I’ll click on the remote, and blast her.” He threatened, and Lucas held me closer. I looked at him.

There was fear on his face, and I hated that look on him. His worry played in his eyes as he glanced from the remote in John’s hands, to John himself. His brain was probably running at fifty miles per second.

“You can’t do anything, Lucas. It is my turn to watch fear alive in you.

Just go back. No one wants you here. You’re actually putting Emily in danger, okay?

She will always be mine. I’m smarter, and I always win.

There’s no way you’re stealing my belongings from me.

You walked in here with your head high, but you’re going to leave with your head sagging.

” John said, clearly enjoying the look in Lucas’ eye.

My hand went to my belly, feeling it. It made me mad, so mad with anger that I just wanted to jump at him, hit him, wrench his neck, and twist it off his head. He just made me have villainous, and violent thoughts.

“John, drop that remote.” Lucas said, dangerously.

“Then hand her over to me.” John replied.

“That is impossible.”

“Make it possible. Or else she would die.” John replied, icily.

“I said drop the damn remote!”

“You don’t seem to realize who has the upper hand here, do you?”

“John. Are you actually going to murder someone?” Lucas asked, and I placed an arm on his gently.

“Are you just plain shocked, or you forgot how to feel? We’re talking about you here? Why are you so calm?” John asked, and I turned my gaze to him.

“I see you’re finally ready to hear my part of the story.” I said.

“Your part? You have a part?”

“Since you said your part of the story, I figured I should say mine too. My story is the continuation of yours.” I said, calmly, giving him a smirk, and Lucas turned to me, puzzled.

“What?” John asked.

{A year ago}

It was the day I had met Kaye, trembling. The same day that she had come into my room, all terrified, and breathless.

“You might need to go to the hospital.” She had said.

“Why? What’s wrong?” I had run my hands over my body, trying to feel for any pain.

“Inside of you… there…” She exclaimed sharply, and turned towards the door.

“Kaye, you’re making me nervous.” I had said, holding onto her hands, and she had looked at me, swallowing.

“I… there’s a bomb inside you.”

I jumped back immediately, like she had said the bomb was in her.

“What?” I whispered, and looked down at myself. “What are you saying?” My eyes were ready to pop.

Kaye began to cry, and it took a lot to make her stop.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier. I’m really sorry. I should have said it no matter how scared I was. It was just so… Right now, even telling you…”

“Calm down. Calm down, you need to calm down so I will calm down too. I still don’t understand. Inside me, how?” I asked, and looked at my skin, touching all parts of me.

I was going to lose my mind. How could I have a bomb in me? Like… you didn’t just spring up one day, hear there’s a bomb inside of you, and not go crazy.

“How did it happen?” I pressed, and led her to the bed. She sat, and I held her hands. “Speak.”

“The night you signed the Alpha Marriage… I was there.” She began.

“You were? How come?”

“I was in Alpha John’s room, and I accidentally broke his favorite wine glass, and right after I packed it up, I heard him coming, with you. I got scared that he’d see me with the broken glass, and retaliate, so I hid behind the curtains.”

“Oh my God.”

“I was so scared. It was just so hard to stay there without shaking, or screaming. I watched him force you to sign the contract, unable to leave. The doctor had come in, and I heard them talk about it. Then, I was forced to watch him operate on you, single handedly. You lost quite a fair amount of blood. My hands shook so much, and the shards in my dustpan made little noises. I think that’s when the doctor noticed.

He continued without saying a word, then after the whole thing, he told John he had something to say, and that…

that he felt there was someone in the room. ”

“Oh, Kaye.” I said, with tears in my eyes.

“John fished me out, and nearly killed me that day. That was when I began to get scared of him, but his friend saved me, saying he would not go deeper into the dark. He said once John murdered someone to keep the secret, he would bail. John threatened to murder my family, and make my life hell if I told anyone about it. Then he transferred me to the Raymond mansion. I was so scared, Emily. That was why I didn’t say a word, but I really can’t watch you like that.

It pricks my heart. You have to go to the hospital, Emily.

” She had cried, and I joined her, crying in fear.

The both of us cried for hours, and the next day after that, I went to the hospital. Using the influence of the Granger surname, I had booked an urgent appointment with surgeons.

I was humble, and came clean to them, telling them everything without leaving a single thing out, urging them to keep it a secret.

The surgeons had done me good, and had performed surgery on me.

Thank heavens, it was successful, and they showed me the bomb. They said they’d find someone to detonate it, since they knew more scientists than I did.

I had paid them from John’s account, and although they asked me to stay a day to recover fully, I had insisted on leaving.

As a result, I had fainted in Lucas’ arms, outside the hospital.

However, I couldn’t tell Lucas because of his rage. He could end up doing something he would regret, so I just decided to forget it.

John stared at me open-mouthed.

“You don’t mean it.” He said, “I’m clicking it.”

“Go on.”

“I’m going to.” He said, and I raised a brow, giving a nod. “Damn you, I’m clicking this!”

He clicked on it, and fell backwards hastily, closing his eyes. In a second, he went from looking like a villain to looking like a fool.

He opened his eyes, and clicked on the bomb repeatedly.

I felt Lucas make a move to leave my side, but I stopped him.

“No.”

“I’ll kill him.”

“No, Lucas. It’s gone. In the past. You’re here now.” I said, with a little smile, like I couldn’t believe he was standing in front of me.

Just then, John took out a gun from the little black bag.

“John!” Lucas shouted, but he squeezed the trigger with malice.

I gasped, as I felt the bolt of pain.

Blood—pouring like water from a fountain, soaked my clothes from my belly, and I fell…
