LUCAS’ POV.
John came to my room shortly after Emily had left.
“Did you see my video?” He asked, after knocking. “I’m guessing you did. I hope Tray’s safe. He’s always sticking with you. Well, I have news for you both. Good news for me. I don’t know if it will be good for you.”
“Your voice irritates me. Leave my door.” I growled.
“Well. I would. Just calm down, or you can come and chase me away if you want to. So, the thing is… you are a danger to civilians. You know that, right? Everywhere you go, you’re a threat.
A ticking time bomb. To us at home, to your workers at work, even to drivers on the road.
What happens when traffic suddenly declares everything comes to a standstill?
In cafes, restaurants, even while taking strolls, you’re a danger.
Do you think it’d be nice for you to stay here? ” He questioned.
“What did you do, John?” I asked, getting to my feet.
“Nothing much. Just saved a lot of people from fear, and worry.” He replied, casually.
“I asked a question. Give me a straight reply.” I said, with gritted teeth.
“Well, I arranged for you to be cast away from civilization. You will be taken to a special center today. I’ve informed the family.
Till you show good results, you’re allowed to see no one, and vice versa.
They’ll take good care of you there, so just see it as one of your long business trips you usually indulge in.
” He said, and it felt like I had been hit in the face.
“What did you say?” I asked, opening the door.
He stepped back hastily, holding up a Taser.
“They have all gadgets to suppress you, so don’t even think of getting mad, or uncontrollable. They’re on their way, and will soon be here.”
“You can’t be serious.” I whispered.
“I told the family you fell a little ill, and that I arranged for you to be taken care of at a special center. They’re madly searching for you now, unaware that you’re here, sulking.”
“John, you…!”
Just then, I heard the unmistakable approach of a car, pulling in through the gates.
“I wonder how Emily would react to seeing you zapped by a Taser when you try to fight. Maybe today will be the day you’ll fight and lose.” He said, still with the Taser trained on me, and I could feel the urge rising, building, wanting me to break his neck, but I took in a deep breath.
I didn’t want Emily to see me become a beast again. No, the fear on her face was something I didn’t want to see again.
“Unfortunately, you wouldn’t be getting that satisfaction.” I said, walking away from him, clenching my fists hard, like the beast in me lay within them.
Right when I was about to step out of the foyer, I met with them, and two of them held both my hands.
“I can walk on my own.” I said.
“We are deeply sorry, sir, but lots of times, we have listened to patients say this, and we have always regretted it. Please, just let us hold you.” One of them said, and their hold released a little, but still felt firm.
“John! Stop this insanity now!” Raymond said, marching towards us.
“Its out of my hands now, Dad. These men work for the people, and not me. Their job is to keep the people safe, ours is to make diplomatic relations, and keep the pack standing.” John replied.
“Stop what you’re doing. Let him go!” Genevieve shouted, and a man gave her his phone. On it was the video of me about to kill Emily. Mira gasped, and Will bit his lip.
“John, is this your doing?” Raymond asked, sternly.
“I will no longer receive that tone from you, father. You should rest. After all, I will take over from you soon. If you can let a beast roam free in the streets, then maybe you’re losing your touch.” He said, and Raymond’s jaw tightened.
“John!” He bellowed, and then fell back, his hand flying to his neck. He shook his head, trying to stabilize himself, but it was a failure. Falling back, Will and Genevieve managed to catch him.
“Raymond!” I called, wanting to go over to him, but the men stopped me.
“What are you waiting for? Take him away!” John ordered, and as they dragged me away, I felt the rage building up in me.
“He’ll be fine. You’re to follow us.” One of the men waiting by the car said to me.
“Lucas!” I suddenly heard Emily scream from the large gates. She ran in, trying to get to me, but more men stopped her. “Lucas! Lucas, what’s going on!?” She cried out, trying to push the men aside.
“We don’t want to have to use force!” A man shouted. “Caution her, or we will.”
“Caution her yourselves. Drag the beast away!” John commanded.
“John, stop!” Sadie cried, trying to run to me, but she was pushed roughly. She fell to the ground, and I lost it.
“Lucas!” That was Tray. How he had been informed, I had no idea. I saw him come running, but didn’t stop.
Hitting the first man, he flew to the ground a few feet away. The second man took out his claws, but I was faster, I slashed him across his chest.
“Lucas!” Emily called, crying, and I felt electricity zap though me. I roared in pain, as every organ in me was attacked.
I fell to the ground, vibrating, while the men picked me up.
Thrown into the car, and chained thoroughly, I was driven away, and I had to watch Emily try to run after the car. It wrenched my heart apart.
“A call for you.” One of the men said, holding up a tablet in front of me. It was a video call.
“Mr. Lucas Granger, I’m Dr. Smith. I will be in charge of your medications.
There’s no cause to panic. You’ll be fine.
We are currently looking for an antidote for you.
The only problem is that the antidote is quite selective.
We have to find an antidote that is compatible with your DNA.
If not, it would only cause more complicated problems.” The doctor said.
But it all sounded like a folly to me, “How long before you can find an antidote?” I asked.
“We’re not sure. It could take months…”
“Months…” I repeated.
Then he added, “Years…”
