Page 82 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle

EMILY’S POV.

“What?” She asked, angrily, but I continued walking away. She didn’t deserve an explanation from me. It didn’t matter whatever she did. We’d ruin her before she even got a chance to talk or be listened to.

If I saw she was about to speak, I would stop her, then her secrets would be blown out, and she wouldn’t even be listened to.

I got to the corridor of my room, and saw John leaning against my door. He raised his head, and I gave a little sigh.

I walked towards him, and stood in front of him.

“Move. That’s my room.”

“I know.”

“Then move. I need to prepare for dinner. You should too. You reek of sweat.” I said, making to walk past him. He grabbed my hand, and pushed me backwards.

“I need answers. What is going on between you and Lucas? Tell me. You still belong to me.”

“In your dreams.” I retorted.

“Tell me, Emily! I saw you both in the library, laughing. Just the both of you in that library. What were you saying?”

“You couldn’t even pick on that? What are your ears for?”

“Emily, what is between you and…”

“It’s none of your business, John. Respect yourself, and move out of the way.”

“I’m not moving!”

“What do you want from me?”

“Tell me the truth!”

“We’re friends, and you had better sober up before dinner.”

“I’m not drunk.”

“Well, you’re acting like you are.”

“Emily.” He called, desperately.

“I just said we’re friends.”

“Don’t be friends with him.”

“Why?”

“It hurts.” He replied, and I scoffed.

“Your pride, I’m guessing.” I pointed out, and he ran a hand through his hair.

“Don’t be friends with my Uncle. Should I move you to another house?”

“Oops, I have his number, and we meet everyday. Maybe that’d be better. He could do a sleepover at the house you give me.” I said, with a teasing smile, and it was only a moment that I saw the rage flash in his eyes, quick and hot.

The next moment, I was hit by a brutal force.

I staggered dangerously, and hit the wall heavily. My head pounded, and it seemed like I’d pass out.

“John!” I heard Lucas call harshly.

I closed my eyes, raising my hands to my head, as an headache threatened to tear me apart.

“What? Is it any of your business?” John asked.

I opened my eyes slowly, trying to block out the pain.

John came towards me to drag me away, but Lucas already got to us, and pushed John away. John staggered, but regained his composure easily, unlike me, who was unable to regain mine.

“How could you hurt a lady?” Lucas asked in rage.

“My lady.”

“She’s not yours.” Lucas growled, and I hid behind him.

“Damn you, Lucas! She’s mine! We shouldn’t be this way! She’s mine, so just back off.”

“If she was, you have zero rights to treat her this way.” Lucas replied, and John paced around, acting like he was going crazy.

“What’s it with you? I thought she was to keep her distance.”

“And she’s doing that well. Unfortunately, I don’t have to keep my distance.”

“Lucas…” John began.

“Prepare for dinner, John.”

“Emily and I are talking about something important.”

“Well, she needs taking care of. She’s hurt.” Lucas replied.

“I can take care of her.”

“If you did that, she wouldn’t have left. Maybe I should show you how to take care of a lady you’re attracted to.” He said, and he pulled me from behind him, and my heart skidded.

“When she’s hurt, you lift her this way.” He said, and lifted me into his arms.

My jaw fell and I didn’t know where to place my hands.

His chest, or his neck? My eyes were stuck on his beautiful face, as he glared at John.

“Lucas!”

“Then you hold her well, and not let her go.” He said, holding me securely, and I swallowed. My heart was going crazy. He was going to feel it! “Then you walk her into her room and get her some rest.” He said, and turned to go into my room.

John took a few steps closer.

“I’m annoyed, John. Don’t come any closer. These days, my fists slip.” He said, and took me into my room. He dropped me on the bed, and I stared in shock at my wall. He locked the door, and we heard John storming away.

“That was… charming.” I said, without intending to.

He chuckled, “Are you okay?”

“Sure… yeah, yeah…”

He came closer, and bent in front of me.

“Are you sure?” He asked, looking up at me.

“He isn’t that strong. Meh, I could beat him in a fight.” I said, avoiding looking into his eyes, and he laughed.

“You? You looked like your head was turned upside down when he pushed you.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“Your face is all red, are you sure you’re fine?”

“Well, that’s because you keep staring at me! Don’t, stop!” I said, and he burst out laughing.

“Wait, what?”

“Why would you lift me like that? I wasn’t…wasn’t prepared for it. You… you could have given me a heads-up.”

“Heads-up? Hey Emily, I’m about to lift you, don’t let your heart beat too fast? I should have said that?” He asked, teasing me.

“I’m going to blackmail you like Sadie. I’ll tell the family you lifted me against my will. If you don’t want that, then you have to bake me a pie.” I said, looking everywhere, but his eyes, and he laughed.

“Oh my God. There’s Sadie’s reflection in you. I’m scared. I’ll bake you a pie tonight.” He said, and I ended up laughing, even though I tried hard to stop it.

“It’s a must.” I said, still laughing, and he nodded.

The moment had come, Mandy had given me a haughty look, and I knew she was about to end the jolly conversation the elders were having.

Sadie had managed to make sure we had dinner in Alpha Raymond’s dining room, and everyone was talking, and having fun. Sadie had shown how brutal she was and had dragged a projector to the center wall, where everyone could see properly.

I sat next to Derella who seemed to have eyes for Katie alone. Katie had been invited to dinner, but didn’t look too comfortable because Mandy and Lucas had somehow ended up sitting together.

I dropped my fork, and held my sweaty palms.

It was then the thoughts of doubt began to fill my head.

What if something went wrong?

What if Mandy got it out before we could do anything?

I signaled to Sadie that it was now or never.

We had allowed the elders to eat enough.

It was time for them to lose their appetite.

She got up from her chair.

“I have something to say.” Mandy blurted out.

“I also have…” I began.

“Emily is pregnant for Lucas, and Derella’s gay.” She said, and it felt like a bomb had dropped.
