EMILY’S POV.

With worry, I walked into the hospital.

“I’m here for Sadie Granger.” I said, to the nurse receptionist.

She looked over a large book briefly, then back to me.

“That’s ward 105.” She replied, and I nodded. I made my way over to the wards, checking the names as I went. Taking the lift to the third floor, I finally found the ward with the number 105.

Through the glass, I could already see Sadie giggling with Lucas. Her leg was heavily bandaged and placed in a short leg cast.

Then, I pushed the door open.

“Emily!” She squealed, trying to sit, but Lucas pushed her down.

“What in the world happened?” I asked, walking towards the empty seat next to Lucas.

I settled on it, and brought out the fruits I had bought for her.

“Lucas suddenly turned into a bear; I got scared out of my wits. He had two other bears with him, and I couldn’t think straight.” She explained.

“Then, she jumped out the window.” Lucas added.

“Are you serious?” I asked Sadie.

“If you see a big bear appr0aching you, will you sit still? Only a dumbass would do that. I actually forgot you identify as one.” She said, and I stuffed a strawberry into her mouth, as I was reminded of how rude she could be.

“Luckily, the trees broke the fall, but not without her little leg having a fracture. She’ll heal fast though. Give it a few days.” Lucas said, patting her leg.

“Hmm, the strawberry is delicious. By the way, are fruits the only thing you brought? I did a great job of stringing you and Lucas together, and fruits are the only things you can get?” She asked.

“String?” I asked in return, and Lucas chuckled.

“You disappeared on your wedding night, and this is the first time I’m seeing you since then.

Also, today is the first time I’m seeing Lucas, since your wedding night, and he suddenly says he’s no longer leaving.

Of course, I’m completely sure my matchmaking worked, and you two are now a couple.

” She said, and Lucas hit her lips lightly.

“No, we…” He began.

“Can you keep a secret?” I asked Sadie, and Lucas turned to me wide-eyed.

“You want to give her a secret? Have you forgotten what she does with secrets? She’s a little blackmailer.” He blurted out, and I burst into laughter.

“Gosh, gosh, I almost fed her with something.”

“Okay, If you don’t tell me what the secret is, I’m going to upload a post online, and tell my family you guys are a thing.” She threatened.

“Well, the secret is we’re a thing.” I replied, and she giggled.

“My work. I’m so proud of it. Of course, I’m going to have to brag to my friends about it, but they don’t need to know your real identities.”

“Brag all you want.” I said, shaking my head, as I began to peel oranges for her. “So what are you doing about Sadie’s illness?” I asked Lucas.

“Well, I found her another therapist today. She’ll begin her sessions this week. Hopefully, she can get over her mind’s deceptions.” He replied, and I fed Sadie a plumpy orange.

“She’s a brave girl. Of course, she can.” I said, and Sadie blushed.

Right then, I began to imagine me and Lucas having a kid as cute as Sadie. The thought of it left a sweet feeling within me.

The day seemed to be getting better. I didn’t see John around, and adding to my joy, Dahlia actually came visiting.

It was a maid who informed me of her presence.

“Dahlia!” I exclaimed, running towards her. My hug threw her backwards, and she staggered.

“Oh my. You want to break an old lady’s back?” She asked, with a giggle.

“Come, come, come. How’s your fracture? Has it healed completely? Ooh, I’m so happy to see you.” I squealed, leading her towards a sofa.

“Oh, my leg is fine. I was passing by, and thought to pay you a visit. You look brighter than I imagined you’d be.” She said, in delight.

“A bowl of fruits for us, please.” I called. “Oh no, I should ask you. Tea, snacks, pastries, food?”

“Pastries, please.” She replied.

“Pastries, please.” I said to the maids.

“What got into you?” She asked, and I whispered into her ear.

“Lucas and I are together.”

“What?” She asked, with raised brows, and I blushed, feeling excited. The maids served us our pastries, and I picked up the tray.

“We discovered we’re also mates. I’ve heard of so many women talking about having two mates, but I’ve never really thought deep about it. Lucas and I couldn’t recognize each other. I don’t know why, but we just suddenly felt that pull, heard the call, and we knew.” I whispered.

“Some people don’t recognize each other until after a while.” She replied.

“Oh Gosh, when last did we see each other? This is so good, Dahlia, I have a lot to tell you. Let’s go to my room, so we wouldn’t see anyone unwanted.”

“That’s John, I presume.” She said, and I giggled.

“Well-guessed.”

Dahlia and I spoke in my room, eating pastries, and drinking chilled milk. I had missed having talks with her. Before I got myself into the whole John mess, she used to listen to every of my woes and sorrows while crocheting, or working. It got me excited to speak with her again.

We spoke for quite a long while, before she decided she had to leave, as she had a lot to do. Her daughter had opened a little shop for her where she could sell her baked goods. She had been on her way to the shop, when she decided to stop by, and see me.

“I’ll visit.” I said, as I waved her goodbye.

“Will be expecting you.” She replied, and I watched her leave.

“Did you have fun?” Lucas popped out of nowhere.

“Hey, I would have introduced you properly.”

“I thought you both needed time to catch up.”

“Well, that’s true, we did need the time.”

“Have you seen John today?”

“No, I haven’t.”

“Who knows what he’s up to? Follow me.” He said, turning away, and I followed him.

In his room, he stood, and looked at me.

“It’s been bothering me for a while now, but I think you should know a bit of self defense.”

“Self defense?”

“I don’t trust John. He can do anything. I won’t always be around, and you’ll be stuck with him most of the time.” He said.

“Hm, so what do I do?” I asked, and he turned me around.

“I can’t predict much, but let’s say you walk out on him, and he tries to hold your shoulder.” He said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah, what do I do?” I asked, with a smile.

“Actually, I think the best you could do will be to run. You’re not strong enough for this.”

“I can train.” I said, moving closer to him.

“I’m really worried though.”

“I’m not. Because you’re here.” I said, lifting myself to kiss him.

He smiled.

“I guess you’re not worried about the training, but about something else.” He said, and I laughed.

“You’re making me out to be an awful person.” I replied, kissing him again.

His hands landed on my waist, and we began to kiss. Moving towards the bed, we began to take off our clothes, as excitement filled us in a rush.

“I didn’t think you’d be as naughty as this.” He whispered against my ear, and I let out a soft sigh, enjoying the sparks it sent down my body.

“I didn’t think so too. Maybe it’s just something about you.” I said, trailing my fingers down his open chest. He took his shirt off, and tugged at my T-shirt.

We pulled it over my shoulders together, and he landed his kisses on my breasts.

“Ah…” I let out softly.

Falling against the bed, I arched my back, eager to receive his kisses, and his tongue trailed a line up to my neck, then to my ear lobe.

I let out another soft sigh, and wrapped my legs around my waist.

His tongue played in my ear, making thousands of neurons rush downwards.

“Let’s make this fast.” I whispered, as my hands tangled into his hair.

“Why? Too much for you?” He asked, taking off my brassiere. His fingers found my rock hard nipples, and I let out a moan. Shortly, his hot mouth came over them, and I gasped as a wave of desire washed through me.

“Yes, yes, yes.” I replied, breathily, feeling my mouth water. His lips claimed mine again, and we kissed soulfully, and passionately, and slowly he took down my shorts.

Then, I pushed him off me, towards the bed, and straddled him, landing kisses on his chest, while my fingers struggled to get his pants down.

“Lucas!” We suddenly heard loud, hasty footsteps approaching his door.

John.
