LUCAS’ POV.

The doctor left me worried, and I paced around, hoping Emily would be fine. After half an hour, Mira sat me down, held my hand, and looked into my troubled eyes.

Maybe I should have come sooner. If I had come sooner, maybe I’d have been able to take her away safely before approaching John.

“What if she doesn’t make it?” I asked, desperate to hear something positive. Even if she lied, I was willing to take it, as long as it was positive.

“Look at me, Lucas. You don’t know what Emily has braved. She will definitely pass through this. If at all, just to see you, and stay with you. Emily is very much in love with you, and will do anything to stay with you, so you just calm down, and relax. She won’t leave.” Mira assured me.

Will patted me on my shoulder, and got up. “Lucas, be strong. We will all have a drink together, and talk. Welcome back. I really wanted to stay, and talk, but something came up. You don’t mind if I leave first, do you?” He asked, and I shook my head.

“It’s fine. Mira will stay with me. She’s being very sweet today.” I said, with a little smile, and Mira hit me.

“You’re worried, but still manage to be sarcastic?”

“Of course, it’s the only way he can stay positive. “Genevieve replied, and Will flashed me a smile.

“Be sarcastic all you want. Emily is going nowhere. After all she went through in John’s house, I agree she deserves her happiness, so I wouldn’t stop you guys from getting married. I’m quite sorry I wasn’t able to help her.” He said, deeply.

“John was thorough in making sure we couldn’t interfere.” Raymond added.

“I’ll be off now.” Will said, and turned around.

“Lucas!” That high pitched voice.

“Sadie.” I said, with a smile, and she came running. “You grew taller! Look…” She jumped against me, and broke into tears.

I patted her back, and Jude, Derella, and Derel came next, looking around. Briefly, until they spotted me. I got to my feet, so I could hug them all, and they crowded me.

“I thought you were dead.” Derella’s voice wobbled.

“Why would I die? Sadie will kill me.” I said, and they released me.

“How will I kill you if you’re already dead?” Sadie asked, with a tear stained face. “You need to stay alive, so I can kill you. I’ll kill you when I’m old enough, so wait till then.” She said, and Jude knocked her head.

“And when is that?”

“When I’m a hundred years old.” She replied, and everyone laughed. The tension was finally broken.

“Are you actually almost as tall as me? Don’t get too tall, Derel” I asked Derel, who looked lanky, and his face turned red.

“Girls actually love tall guys.” He said, in a little voice, and I laughed, ruffling his hair.

“I missed you guys.”

“Then, you’ll have to listen to tales of what we went through.” Derella said.

“Sadie and I drew a fanfic of you and Emily. It kept Emily going.” Jude said, pulling me to sit next to her on the waiting bench.

“John was very nasty! Did you know he tied Emily up, and pushed her into the pool?” Sadie asked, and the stories began.

When I myself had gotten the videos of what John had done to Emily, it had taken Tray and a few men to stop me. It hurt me that I had let her go through all that.

Throughout the day, Emily slept on, and even when everyone else had gone home, I stayed by her side, watching her calm face. By night, her breathing was steady, so were her vital signs, and I began to have a bigger sense of hope.

A smile formed on my face, as I watched her. At least she had a fanfic to stare at. I had only our memories in my head to think of. Every night, I had gone to sleep, with the thought of her singing to me.

Finally, she awoke by midnight, and I moved closer. When she saw me, a smile formed on her face, and she tapped the space on her bed, which was just enough for two to squeeze in.

I went under the blankets, and lay my head down, smiling at her. She gave a little giggle, and I tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Short hair looks good on you, Em.”

“It does? I was worried you wouldn’t like it.”

“You’re the one I fell in love with. Not the hair.” I said, and she giggled.

“I still can’t believe any of this. It all feels so surreal. Honestly, if I wake up, and see that this is all a dream, I’ll jump out the window.” She said, and I laughed.

“Thankfully, it’s not a dream, else you’d have broken my heart into pieces. Pieces that can never be pieced together.”

“Are you sure? Pinch me.”

“Hmm hmm, no. You’re too sweet to be pinched.” I said, and she touched my face.

“Still can’t believe it. I’m so happy right now, and I’m scared of the joy I feel.”

“Embrace it. I’m real.” I said, kissing her fingertips, and she snuggled in closer to me. “Are you in pain?”

“My body has learned to heal fast thanks to John. I just feel the pain a teeny bit. Just a teeny bit.” She replied, looking up at me. “Tell me I’m beautiful. I waited so long to hear it from you.” She said, and I chuckled.

“You are beautiful.”

“Hmm! Now that feels right.” She giggled.

“You’re beautiful, and I love you.” I whispered.

“Tell me again that I did well.”

“You did well.” I said, stroking her head, and she snuggled into my chest, breathing softly.

“Don’t go anywhere. Your punishment is ‘being stuck with me’ forever.”

“Oh shit, I landed in trouble. What the heck do I do?” I said, sarcastically, and she giggled.

“Are you testing me? I can give something harder.”

“Oh this is hard enough. My heart would have to pound at two hundred beats per minute. Do you know how hard that is?” I asked, and she laughed.

“I’m going to find something that’ll make it spike up to three hundred.”

“Oh I fell in love with a wicked beauty.” I said, dramatically, making her laugh.

“How did you escape?”

“Tray. He was really great. He managed to hack into John’s well fortified system, and began to give the men orders. They fed me with pure food. Everybody else’s food was laced with the drug.”

“Cruel.”

“I know, right? It took Tray about three months to hack into John’s system, and by then, I had taken too much of the drug, so it took me a long time to recover.

“I spent nine months there, but couldn’t come to you because I wasn’t really completely fine.

I had triggers from time to time, so I began to track John, and installed my people everywhere around him.

They lined the house with cameras, and gave me reports on him.

In the months I was away, Tray had worked on my orders, and had bought an existing company.

We renamed it, and began to target John’s company, producing the same product as him, but making ours better, and cheaper, so they’d flock to us. ”

“Nice strategy.”

“Then I began to work on how to free the others who had been unlawfully trapped there. I’ve released my friends, and a few others. It’s still a work in progress.”

“That’s beautiful.” She commented, and I hugged her closely.

We stayed in that position in satisfaction, until sleep finally came to take us away.

And I was very sure we invaded each other’s dreams.
