LUCAS’ POV.

How shocked I was. I never really suspected Jenny.

“Are you sure?” I asked Sadie, while staring at Jenny.

“Yeah, her pictures are all over.” Sadie replied.

“What happened?” Jenny asked, insecurely.

“We just hacked into all your phones, and in your secret, hidden files, we found these.” Sadie said, turning the laptop towards Jenny. Jenny stared at it for a while, with the same ignorant expression, but unexpectedly, she pushed the laptop away, and sprang out of her chair, racing for the door.

“George!” Sadie called, and George tried to catch her, but she pushed him away. He hit his head on the table, and Sadie screamed, rushing to him.

Derel and Tray ran after her, and managed to hold onto her sweatshirt.

She buckled, trying to release herself, but they easily overpowered her, and Tray held her hands painfully behind her back.

She winced, and gave up fighting. They led her to the sofa, and I got up.

The girls were completely shocked. They, just like me, couldn’t believe the culprit was Jenny all along.

Jenny who had panic attacks, who cried easily, who was always shy and sweet.

We all crossed the dining to the living room, where she was being held down on the sofa by Tray and Derel. Derel looked like he wanted to wring her neck. I didn’t even bother telling him to control his emotions, since he was on camera. He had every right to be angry.

I sat on the sofa opposite them, and the girls sat around in different places. Mina stood up, walking to Jenny. Jenny looked up at her, and before she could even do or say a thing, Mina slapped her hard.

The girls exclaimed, but none of them said a thing. It was probably a desire of theirs too.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t hold it.” She said to me, and returned to her seat.

Then Jenny scoffed.

“So what?” She asked, and we were all shocked at the transformation of her voice.

Her sweet voice had fallen apart, revealing a hard voice.

“You think I’m going to go to the public, and tell them I photo shopped those photos?

No way. Even if you hit me, torture me, or threaten me.

I’m never going to say that.” She said, looking at us with soulless eyes.

She ought to be an actress. Her look, her voice, her smile, her gait—she had changed everything to suit a shy, and insecure person’s.

She was the one who had given off the bad aura when we first met.

“The evidence is right here.” I said, tapping the laptop.

“You hacked into my phone. That’s an offence.” She replied.

“They’re minors, and were just playing around with the Wi-Fi for a project.

” I said, with a smile. I never knew Sadie was that smart.

She fooled even me. What crazy project at school would need lots of Wi-Fi?

She only wanted to hack into each phone, and see if there was anything useful in it, and she had found Gold.

I had to admit: It was foolish of Jenny to keep such files in her phone. Even if they were hidden. Phones were better accessed than laptops. Was her real name even Jenny?

“I can easily say they imputed that into the laptop. Everyone would believe me since the Grangers always go to extreme ends to cover up the wicked things they’ve done.”

“Always go to extreme ends. What do you think we have had to cover up? Absolutely nothing.” I said, and she scoffed.

“You imprisoned my whole family when they didn’t even commit crimes. If not for my Uncle who told me I could get revenge by coming here, I would have been hopeless.”

“Your family? They probably committed crimes.” I said, and she scoffed.

“What did Mandy do?”

“Mandy?” I asked, a little shocked.

“She got into prison even though she did nothing.”

“Oh, really? I always knew she was dumb.” I said, chuckling, leaning backwards on the sofa.

“She has no hand in this.”

“Then you’re dumb. How come photo shopping was your grand idea?”

“No. The Grand idea was to make them real.” She said, with a scowl.

“You were going to sleep with a minor?” I asked, disgusted.

“Yes, but it turned out the minor was scared of older women coming close.” She replied, looking at Derel with malice, and I laughed.

“Maybe he was just scared of you. So, your big plan failed, and you photo shopped instead?”

“Of course, I did. It’s my revenge, and I’m proud of it. No one might know who brought down the Grangers, but I’ll take complete pride in knowing I did.” She said, and I took off the camera chip on my tie.

“You have a flash drive?” I asked George.

“Yes, I do.” He said, taking off his bag. Sadie was staring at Jenny with a look of contempt, refusing to leave George’s head, which she insisted on checking for traces of blood.

“Do you also have good editing skills?” I asked him, and he smiled, before nodding, and handing the flash drive to me. I opened the chip, and took out the memory card in it, before placing it in the flash drive.

I connected it to the laptop, and played the recorded video right from where Jenny tried to run.

“Dear Jenny, I won’t need to torture you to reveal to the public what you did, because you already have.” I said, turning the laptop towards her, while playing it thrice the speed, so she could see herself speaking foolishly, and stupidly.

Her expression turned from coolness to shock. She made to fly at the laptop, but Derel and Tray stopped her.

“Edit it, so it doesn’t have any problems, and give it to the public.

” I said, giving the memory card to Tray once I had taken it out of the laptop.

“Shouldn’t this be the right time to have a panic attack?

” I asked, looking down on Jenny who looked at me with angry tears in her eyes.

“Oh my, they were fake too?” I asked, with a smirk.

She would make a damn good actress. Well, that was in another life. My family was going to make sure she never got out of prison. From stealing, to breaking in, her alleged crimes wouldn’t stop.

~

“It’s over now, Derel.” I said, later that evening in my office. The video had aired perfectly, and no one knew about us hacking into her system. They only knew what they had to know.

“Thank you so much, Lucas.”

“You should thank Sadie and her friend, George. Treat them out to something nice. You never know, he may turn out to be a friend.”

“Maybe.”

“You don’t have to be scared to go to school, okay? And you’re to report to me if anyone says shit about you. Tell me who they are, and I’ll sue them for slander.” I said and he chuckled.

“I think I should be able to go to school with my head high now. Those who believed the news and talked nonsense about me, would be ashamed.” He said, smiling, as he stared into blank space. “I’ll meet with Derella first.” He said, taking his leave.

“Bye.”

“Bye, Lucas.”

After everything, I realized I had so much work to do. The video was being shared from account to account, social platform to social platform… but my work wasn’t moving on its own.

I began to work, until I decided taking them home would do.

It was the last day of Emily’s three-day trip. Maybe she’d be home in the morning. I couldn’t wait to see her. Just three days, and I missed her already.

I went home, and continued my work, but after a while, I decided to take a walk. It wasn’t snowing, and the snow on the ground was little. It was better than the previous winter. Then, it had snowed almost every day, and while walking, our feet was always sinking in snow.

On my way back, I saw Emily getting out of a car, and I wondered just what on earth she was doing at the Mansion. I had expected her to be home the next day.

She saw me, and began to run.

It made me so happy. She was happy to see me. When she came close, I surprised myself by not caring we were still outside, and could be seen by passersby.

I……… her.
