Page 152 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
LUCAS’ POV.
I could not control myself. All that filled my head was the desire to break something, anything!
The maids around me screamed, and it made me madder. How could John have fooled me? How dare he?
I raised Emily, whom I didn’t recognize, ready to throw her ruthlessly, and watch her bleed, but she clung on to my arm, like it were a tree branch, and cried.
“Please, please, don’t let me go. Don’t, I beg you!
” She cried, looking down in fear. “I’m going to fall.
I’m going to fall, Lucas! Try to get a hold of yourself.
” She said, and something about the sound of her voice clicked as familiar.
I tried to identify why her crying voice made me so scared, but I knew I wasn’t going to let her go.
There was nothing that would stop me from plunging her down.
I raised her high again, ready to forget whatever fear her voice provoked, and she let out a shrilly scream.
However, I noticed the change in the atmosphere. There was John rushing towards me at the speed of light.
I used Emily as a shield, pushing her to him, and she took the blow, giving a loud yelp, as she was knocked into the wall.
The acrid smell of blood filled my nostrils, and I wanted more.
John glanced at Emily with fear in his eyes, and I lunged for him, ready to give him the blow that would knock him off the railing.
He managed to dodge, and ran past me, but I turned around, slashing him with my claws. More screams came from the maids, but I wasn’t about to stop. I was going to unleash all the rage I felt upon John.
“Lucas! Stop this! You have to be stable.” John shouted, turning around. I prepared a fist, and he caught it, trying to twist it, but I thrust my claws forward, ready to plunge it into his belly.
He jumped to the side, releasing the fist he held, and I lunged for him again.
“Lucas, wait! Look at what you did to Emily!” He shouted, but I didn’t stop. At the last minute, he smashed a flower vase into my head, and I staggered back in pain, feeling the intense sting on my head. Blood ran down my face, and for every muscle that twitched in my head, came pain.
My claws retracted, and I looked at Emily. John walked to her, helping her up, and she stared at me in shock.
I could see how shaken she was. She didn’t even notice John was holding her up. Instead, she continued to stare at me, with tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry.” I said to her, and she pushed John off her, wiping away the tears on her face.
“It’s not your fault.” She said, and turned on John, who looked a little hurt.
“I just saved you from him!” He exclaimed.
“You caused it! You caused all this! If it weren’t for you, then this wouldn’t have happened. How wicked do you have to be? Your jealousy, and immaturity is driving you insane. You! You, John, deserve to be thrown behind bars. Away from everyone!” She began to cry, but I couldn’t go near her.
For fear that anything could happen, and not even John would be able to stop me. He had been lucky with smashing the flower pot. What if it had helped to aggravate me more? Then, he’d die… just like that.
“Then you both should have never met. You should have never had a thing for each other. You should have just stayed with me, and loved me like you used to.”
“Then you should never have cheated!” She shouted back at him.
“I know. I know, so stop reminding me! You don’t have to keep rubbing it in. I already apologized, didn’t I?”
“I’m quite glad you cheated though. No lies.
I’m glad I found out. If I didn’t, then I’d have gone way too deep, before realizing the monster that you are.
They say everything happens for a reason.
I’m guessing I found out about your nasty acts, so I could move on, and find my way.
If anyone dies because of what you did to Lucas, it’s on you. ” She said, and turned, storming away.
I watched her leave, and my heart ached. It had been hard to recognize her when I had gotten mad. I had struggled to recognize her, but it had been a futile act.
“The next time this happens,” I growled to John, walking towards him. “I will kill you, without hesitation.”
“Turns out I’m not afraid of death. There’s nothing you can use to scare me. As long as I can keep on seeing the fear in Emily’s eyes, as she watched you, then I’m fine with it all.” He gloated, and I knocked him backwards.
“It won’t be an easy death if you think it will be.” I growled, before turning backwards, entering my room.

The next morning, I sat in my office, thinking of what John had said. The look in Emily’s eyes had been haunting. She had been truly scared of me.
The door was pushed open, and Tray came in.
“Okay, I’ve drafted the contract for… hey, I thought the effect of you winning the trial would last for months, what is this? Why do you look so immersed in thoughts?” He asked, dropping the draft on my table.
“John had another trick up his sleeve.”
“Shit. Did that little devil do something again?” He asked, and I sighed, before telling him everything that had happened over the last three days.
“Wow! Unbelievable!” He exclaimed, getting up in rage. “and you’re letting him be?”
“I can’t help it. At the slightest provocation, I lose it. Killing him is not my intention. He was really smart by deciding to put the drug in my food.” I replied, and my phone chimed.
There was a message from John.
“Tray… you will leave the office now, and lock me in.”
“Why?” Tray asked, alarmed.
“John sent a message. It might be a little provoking, and I don’t want any harm to come to you, or anyone else.” I replied, and reluctantly, he walked out, grabbing the keys to the door.
I heard the door click, and finally tapped on the message.
Just like I had predicted, it was something provoking.
He had sent a video of what had happened the previous night.
A video of me about to throw Emily down the stairs.
