Page 164 of One Nightstand With My Ex's Uncle
JOHN’S POV.
Nothing was going fine. Everything seemed to become worse by the day. Emily had become a shadow of herself. She wasn’t the lady I loved, and I deeply wished to see the lady I fell in love with.
The Emily I knew, was always smiling. Her smile was beautiful, and her dark eyes always seemed to be glowing, hiding a whole new world underneath it. That was the lady I had loved.
The Emily I had loved, fawned over me, and no one else. There was no Lucas in her heart. I alone, occupied her head, but over the years, she had suddenly become someone else.
Every night, the past haunted me, and it felt like everyone I knew was laughing at me. Slowly, I was losing everyone I cared about, and everyone who cared about me.
Like I would never get what I wanted, but that was a lie. I was going to get Emily. If I couldn’t get her, then no one else would. She was mine and mine alone.
“Alpha John.” Landon said, walking into my office.
“What?” I asked, dropping the blank sheet I had been staring at for ages.
“I have the sales report with me.” He replied, laying the reports gently in front of me.
“Okay, now I’m firing some people this morning.” I said, getting up angrily.
“Alpha John, you have to calm down. We actually need these employees.”
“Why the heck has sales dropped again? Do you know how hard I tried just to get it to rise?”
“We might not find employees who will be as good as these ones are. We must hold on to whoever we have.” He said, but I had already grabbed my coat, ready to leave.
“We’ll definitely find new and better employees.” I said, leaving the office.
As the employees saw me approaching, they all seemed to be taken with fear. They all stood up, and bowed.
“Now, listen to me.” I called out. “Spread the word. Tell all the heads of department to surrender two employees with the lowest performance. A lot of you will be going home today. If they cannot tender two employees, who have not contributed to the success of the company in each department, then all the department heads are going home.” I said, and Landon sighed.
I sat there, waiting, and slowly, the heads of department began to submit two employee files each.
Handing them over to Rebal, I crossed my legs, and folded my arms.
“Draft out termination letters for these employees under an hour.” I commanded, and looked over the employees, who all seemed to be shivering.
“You all seem to think I’m joking, right?
The G firms must be the best, and no other company can stay on top.
I’m more than willing to weed out the lot of you who drag me down.
I will never allow it. My company will soar, and will be the best all around.
If you know you wish to stay, then you work for it.
Do well to spread my news to all the employees. I will not warn anyone twice.”
With that, I left, feeling satisfied.
“Alpha John, don’t you think terminating two employees from each department is a little too much?” Rebal asked.
“Our sales have reduced drastically. It’s crazy. When our sales dropped by forty percent, do you expect me to sit and do nothing? Do some findings for me. I need to dig deep, and know if it’s the products I’m to improve, or more employees I’m to fire.”
I stepped into an elevator, leaving the men behind, and leaned, with my head turned downwards, thinking of my decreased sales. Two female employees came in, and I looked at them.
How disrespectful. They didn’t even notice me.
“He’s just like that. Have you seen Miss Emily, either? No.” The first one said.
“I really didn’t think it to be that way, but then, it’s quite crazy. There’s this rumor I heard flying around recently. Guess what it is.” The second one said.
“What is it?” The first asked.
“Mr. Granger drugged his Uncle, and sent him to a special center no one knows about. Then, he locked Miss Emily in, and tortures her daily.”
“Oh, come on. How could you say such? Seriously, the rumors get worse daily. How could you say such? I mean, how will he…?”
“All the employees are talking about it. Is it just me? Look at how rude Mr. Granger is. I’m betting the rumors are a hundred percent real.” She said, and I couldn’t take it anymore.
I grabbed her hair hard, and she turned, giving a loud whimper of pain. Immediately she saw me, she screamed, and covered her mouth.
The second employee couldn’t say a word, and kept on gaping at me.
The doors flew open, and I dragged her across the halls. Employees stood up from their desks, watching her scream with their mouths open wide.
“Anyone else who says I sent my Uncle to a special center will end up like her!” I spat, and whacked the employee across the face, causing gasps to emanate from the people watching.
The girl screamed as her nose began to bleed, and I pushed her into the wall out of disgust.
“Damn you all.” I spat, walking away, and heard the rush of feet to help the girl.
Back in my office, I waited, and finally, Landon came in.
“Alpha John. It isn’t the employees’ fault that we’re seeing the decrease in sales. Have a look.” He said, handing me a tab.
“What’s this?” I asked.
“It’s a new competitor. They sell almost the same products as us, and applied extreme sales strategies to make their products sell faster. Our customers have been flocking towards them.” He explained.
“Damn them…” I said, and just then, Rebal ran in, breathlessly.
“Alpha John!” He called, and showed me his phone.
There was a video with the caption;
HE MUST BE LOCKED AWAY!
In the video was me drunk, smashing a car, and worse, the video of me assaulting an employee.
The same employee I had assaulted minutes ago.
