EMILY’S POV.

“Emily.” He called, and immediately bridged the gap between us, taking long strides towards me. He took the gag off my mouth, hastily, then stared deeply into my eyes, his pupils darting from left to right.

“Have you… have you been well?” I asked, as my eyes watered once more.

“Have you… have you been fine?” My voice wobbled terribly.

“I’ve been waiting… I’ve been waiting for a long time.

” I said, not wanting to burst into tears.

Once more, I was seeing him. I was in front of him, and he was in front of me.

His eyes spoke volumes, and so did mine. He was the only one in the room; the only one I could see. Slowly, he nodded, and his eyes watered, as he pulled me to him.

My whole face crumpled, and squeezed as I wrapped my arms around him.

“I’m here.” He said, but I only wrapped my arms around him tighter, like he was going to run, going to disappear on me. “I’m not going anywhere, Emily. I’m sorry. I…”

“It was hell, Lucas.” I whispered.

“You don’t have to say a thing. I know it all. I saw it all.” He patted my head slowly, and finally I burst into tears.

“Do you know how much I tried? All the nights I cried? Where were you? He abused me! He hit me! You should kill him. He did so many things to me!” My heart broke, and I screamed my words out, trying to contain the pain I felt in that moment.

“My fault. My fault, Emily. Blame it on me. It’s my fault I let him touch you.”

I opened my mouth wide to cry, squeezing him hard.

“It was so hard. I wanted to die, yet I didn’t want to die. So… so many things happened to me. I… I prayed everyday that I’d see you. Do you know how much it hurt? Why…” I swallowed, and choked. “Why are you just coming?”

He squeezed me to him, expressing his pain, and held my head firmly to his shoulder.

“You did well. You did well… You were brave. I’m proud… I’m proud of you, Emily.” He said, and I took in a deep, shaky breath. It was only then I was able to calm down.

Finally, we withdrew, and he placed a hand on my cheek, sorrow deep in his eyes.

“I missed you.” He said softly, then his eyes fell to my hair. He held it, and closed his eyes. Then, hugged me again.

JOHN’S POV.

“Out.” I said to the guards, who watched Emily and Lucas reconcile. I turned to the maids too. “Get out.” I commanded, and they all scuffled out of the house quickly, leaving only the three of us.

It was a disgusting sight unfolding in front of me, as Lucas and Emily embraced. I hated it as she cried. Never for once had she cried like that when I tormented her. Lucas just seemed to be able to manipulate her in all the ways I couldn’t.

He could easily draw a smile on her face, make her cry, and make her hold him like she was holding the world’s biggest diamond.

I watched them with spite, and envy biting at my heart, but I waited. I would be patient only for a while longer, before destroying their happy meeting.

Then, Emily turned to me, her eyes burning with rage.

“I don’t know what to say to you. You’re simply everything I detest in a man.”

“But you once loved that man.” I countered.

“You’re quite right. I ‘once’ loved that man.

” I replied, “It turns out I don’t regret loving you.

If I didn’t, then I might have never met Lucas.

You received a lot of love, John. From me.

From everyone, but you chose to use it in this way.

Your father wasn’t ruthless to disown you.

He knew he had lost his son, and decided to mourn early.

Because you’re not John, but a monster who ate John up.

Your father did the right thing to disown you.

” She spat, and I took an angry step forward, but Lucas snarled, holding her close.

“She’s going to be your Luna. You show your respect.” He said, and I laughed, moving backwards.

“My Luna. I guess she’s gonna do that in hell. You know, I had a feeling that this day would come, so I kind of prepared for it, and oh, it’s one fantastic surprise.” I said, bending over my drawers. I took out a little bag, and walked back to where I had been standing.

Taking out a little black remote, I dangled it in front of them.

“I’m crazy, Lucas. Number one, Don’t mess with a crazy man. Number two, don’t take everything away from a crazy man because he’ll only become crazier.

“Do your worst.” Lucas said, menacingly, and I laughed.

“Okay.” I paused, “I’ll tell you the story of how I planned my worst.

Right after signing the Alpha Marriage, I had taken Emily and had laid her on my bed, watching as the brief lightning highlighted her soft features.

Her hair spread messily over the sheets, and I had planted a kiss on her lips.

Then I had waited for Jo to come. He was a doctor, and a well-known friend. He was going to perform an operation that would prove just how crazy I was.

Shortly, Jo had arrived, looking shaken.

I had watched as he prepared the equipment, his hands shaking slightly, and his eyes darting to Emily’s peaceful form on my bed. The rain outside created a soothing melody, but did little to calm his or my nerves.

I knew he was worried, but I had to push forward. My sanity depended on it.

“This is preposterous, John. I must remind you, this is a high-risk operation,” His voice had trembled.

“Jo, we’ve been over this. We have no other choice. She’s running out of my grasp. Everyday, she becomes worse. I need to have her under my control.” I had said, trying to sound calmer than I felt. If anything went wrong, then there was the possibility that we’d all die.

Jo nodded, but his eyes betrayed his concerns. “I understand, but—”

“Jo, we’ve been over this.” I interrupted, more firmly “Let’s do it,” My eyes fixed on Emily’s troubled face.

Jo took a deep breath, and began the procedure. “Okay, here we go.” I watched, my heart racing, as he worked with precision and care, forcing myself not to wince.

“Will it hurt her?” I had asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Jo shook his head. “No, she’s under anesthesia. She won’t feel a thing.” He replied, his focus on the task at hand.

I nodded, my eyes never leaving Emily’s face. I willed her to be strong, so she could withstand what I needed her for.

Eventually, I left the room to get a drink because I couldn’t watch, and it was later on that he called me in.

“It’s done. Now we wait and hope for the best. The bomb has been successfully placed inside of her. One click on the remote, and she’ll be blasted to pieces. I also hid it in a difficult and complicated spot.”

I looked at the stitched incision, and let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Jo,” I said, “Thank you. You’re a God sent.”

We stood there in silence, the only sound being that of the rain outside, as we watched Emily breathing slowly. Unaware of what happened. Immediately she healed, I was going to take out the stitches myself.

The bomb implanted, a tiny beacon of hope in the darkness of my fears for her. I didn’t have to worry anymore, as to whether or not she’d leave. She would always be with me.

“She’ll be okay, won’t she, Jo?” I had asked, tilting my head.

“She should be. Now there’s something I must tell you.” He had said.

I looked at Lucas’ face filed with sweet horror, and said proudly,

“Emily, there’s a bomb inside you, and this is the controller.”
