Page 89 of The Lost Ones
“I was about to protest but actually I agree. The way my fathers behaved makes me think that something else is happening and I’d rather not go into unknown territory unarmed.” I explain.
The guys all nod in agreement.
“I have this feeling that we should take knives and swords more than guns. I don’t know why but I think it would be a bad idea to take guns with us.” I frown as I try to explain the niggling feeling in my gut.
Knot yips once in her fox form, gaining the attention of all of us before anyone can reply to me and nods once, clearly agreeing.
“Even if Knot clearly hadn’t just agreed with you, we would trust your gut, Darling.” Levi responds, kissing me lightly.
“Thank you,” I reply softly, smiling.
“Knives are more fun anyway!” Kai grins up at me dangerous glint in his eyes.
I chuckle quietly.
“Do you guys have swords?” I ask curiously.
“Oh yeah. They may not be a popular choice of weapon anymore but Kai’s obsession with them coupled with Levi’s need to be prepared for anything, means that we have all trained with them. Do you know how to fight with them? Obviously you’re good with knives.” Jax asks me.
Clearly remembering the fight with Brent’s men when he had them kidnap me but not before I managed to take a few down with my knives.
“Yeah I do, I’m a bit rusty though. Cain insisted I learnt but I didn’t practice with them as much as I should’ve. Mainly because of lack of access to a sword but also because I didn’t really see the point. Most of the situation where I would’ve needed one the other people would’ve had guns.”
“That makes sense, in some sort of twisted way.” Kai mutters.
“We’ve got one that should work for you. We’ll arm up before we leave tomorrow.” Levi says thoughtfully.
“This is all very well but how the fuck are we going to get weapons onto a plane?” Hunter questions raising his eyebrow.
“Well shit!” I groan.
“I’ll work on it. I really don’t feel safe enough to leave them at home and I don’t particularly want to ask your father’s if there’s a way to get them to the school inconspicuously. I’d rather ask for forgiveness and have them with us if we need them than ask for permission and inevitably be caught without them.” Levi tells us.
“Good plan, boss!” Jax smirks earning a look from Levi.
“Maybe Erin knows? I was supposed to ring her and tell her my results anyway, I could ask her?” I suggest.
“Good plan but first, how should we celebrate?” Maverick asks, grinning.
“Takeout and movies?” Hunter answers looking to me and I nod.
“I’m feeling too lazy to do much else!” I chuckle.
“Takeout it is. I’ll order, you ring Erin, tell her the good news and ask her if she knows how we can sneak our weapons on a fucking plane!” Jax chuckles.
We each give him our orders and he walks into the kitchen to make the call as I pull out my phone from underneath Kai, who doesn’t even attempt to move and help me but does smirk up at me the entire time. I retaliate by leaning down and licking his forehead since it’s the only part of him I can reach.
Maverick and Levi immediately start laughing as Hunter turns away from where he’s trying to choose a film for us to watch and raises his eyebrow in question. I shrug as Kai splutters explaining that I licked him. If he was expecting some sort of sympathy from Hunter though he doesn’t get it as Hunter starts laughing with the other two. Leaving them to it I bring up the contact details for Erin and set up a video chat.
“Hey Sugar tits!” Erin immediately greets me and I grin.
“Hey, Pumpkin ass!” I reply and then immediately burst out laughing at the look of horror on her face, her guys and mine all laughing with me.
“Dude, that’s the best you can do?” She grins.
“Yeah pretty much,” I shrug still grinning.
She opens her mouth, raising a dark red eyebrow and I prepare myself for something more than likely utterly outrageous to come out of her mouth. She stops herself though and starts bouncing where she’s sat.
