There’s definitely more to him than there first appears.
“It could also be because we haven’t had any new Centres before.” He says shovelling food in his face.
“What do you mean?” I ask grinning as I see my guys enter the dining hall, the others following quickly behind and making a beeline for the food.
“We all grew up together and mixed in the same circles. Since we’re the last of the Centres and if you’re lucky the Bonded, everyone in the supernatural world knows who we are.” He explains.
It sort of makes sense I guess, it also explains why everyone is having the reaction they are to us but it does not explain why the Director tried to make out that her behaviour when we first arrived was for our benefit. That I just don’t understand at all.
“Hey Beautiful, I missed you!” Kai greets me as he and Jax lean down on either side of me and kiss my cheek.
I wish I could kiss them properly but until we know from Nicole what exactly is going on we don’t want to attract more attention to ourselves. Not that, that seems possible right now with everyone subtly paying attention to us since with all of us here now we make quite an imposing group.
“I missed you guys too!” I say.
“Something happened in demon one-oh-one but maybe now is not the best time to tell you since,” Kai pauses and then continues raising his voice, “SOME FUCKERS ARE BEING DAMN NOSEY!”
I chuckle as suddenly conversation increases around us again as people go back to their own lunches. After the their laughter has died down, the guys all introduces themselves to Cole who shoots me a raised eyebrow look and I know he’s going to have questions. I grin and shrug.
“I have a feeling about him.”I say through the bond to my guys, wishing I could link the others in briefly.
All conversation stops as Erin looks at me with wide eyes, my fork pauses halfway to my mouth.
“What?” I ask slightly worried.
“We all just heard you.” Dash says as Cole’s gaze ping pongs around the group.
“All of you?” I say shocked, and they all nod.
“Well fuck!” I say.
“What’s going on?” Cole asks, quietly.
“We’ll explain later I have a feeling you need to know.” I say following my gut feeling.
“Ok.” He shrugs letting it go although curiosity blazes in his eyes, “Come on, combats next and I can guarantee you fuckers aren’t ready for it.” Cole chuckles and we join in, standing up and following him out to the quad.
Chapter Thirteen
“Don’t we have to get changed first?” I ask Cole.
“Nope, we are expected to learn how to train and fight in what we’re wearing since when we’re up against supernaturals who break the law we won’t be able to get changed first.” He says.
“Makes sense I guess.” Maverick says.
“Line up!” The instructor from our first day yells and we do as we’re damn told, “We’ll be running the usual drills for those newbies amongst you, that’s two hundred of the following, sit ups, press ups, burpees and star jumps, then I want you to run laps until you literally drop. No excessive use of your supernatural sides.” He finishes grinning and clearly enjoying the torture we’re about to endure.
“I thought this was supposed to be combat class?” Nate murmurs quietly as we all get down into the sit up position.
“He alternates classes. Next lesson will be combat but there’s no point in being able to fight if you don’t have the stamina to back it up. Especially since some of the supernaturals that we will go up against in the various realms will have incredible stamina and strength and we will more than likely be outmatched.” Cole informs us as he starts doing sit ups at an impressive speed.
“Well fortunately we aren’t that far behind you in the fitness level. At least we have some sort of experience with this sort of training.” Jax groans.
“Speak for yourself.” I moan and they chuckle quietly.
“Stop talking or I’ll add an extra two hundred to each exercise!” Domonic, the instructor barks out and we immediately get back to it.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not in terrible shape and I am finding that I have more stamina than before my gifts were released but hell no do I want to be doing more exercise than I really fucking have to.
