Page 145 of The Lost Ones
The room is in absolutely disarray. There is devastation everywhere nothing left untouched in the fight that went on here. It’s more than obvious that the fight took place in the main living area. With the majority of damage being in here and claw marks in the furniture, scorch marks on the walls and cracks and dents everywhere. Not to mention the over turned furniture and just general mess everywhere.
Chapter Nineteen
“Well I think it’s safe to assume that whoever attacked them, Rebecca and her guys knew them.” Erin says as she glances around.
“What makes you think that?” I ask curiously.
“Well there were no signs of forced entry. So no one broke in.” She shrugs.
“Or they used the void to get in. If it really is the same person that brought that serpent you guys fought through the void, then it makes sense that, that’s how they got in here.” Cole says and Nate and Levi look at him confused.
“What the hell is the void?” Nate asks.
We quickly explain and explain our theory about it all being done by the same person.
“That seems like a pretty fair assumption.” Levi says frowning. “Didn’t the Director say that she had her best people on this case?” He asks.
“Yeah that’s a good point actually, where the fuck are they?” Cole adds.
“Something else the Director has been untruthful about. But why?” Nate says.
“I guess we aren’t going to find out any time soon. Let’s look around.” Erin says.
We all start to carefully look around being sure not to touch anything but trying to get any sort of clue as to what the hell happened here.
“Somethings bothering me.” I say and they turn to look at me as I stand next to the clawed up couch, “There is a hell of a lot of destruction in this room and a fight that can cause this much damage would’ve been loud. So why didn’t we hear anything? Our room is only across the hall no more than three metres away, so why didn’t any of us hear it happening?” I ask.
“These rooms are all spelled to be completely soundproofed.” Cole says, “They’re the rooms for Centres and their Bonded. No one is naïve enough to think that after classes all they do is sleep.” He chuckles as Levi grins and waggles his eyebrows in my direction, “Honestly the majority of the rooms are spelled to be completely sound proof for that reason. Althoughthey’ll tell you it’s because supernaturals have sensitive hearing.” Cole adds rolling his eyes.
Erin chuckles as she absentmindedly picks up a broken mug. She gasps as soon as her finger tips make contact and her eyes become completely white, her glamour dropping and her hair glowing.
“What the fuck is happening?” Nate exclaims worriedly as he rushes to her.
“What he said!” I ask as I do the same, Levi and Cole following us.
“She’s having a vision.” Cole says, “It’s a rare gift where you get visions from things that you touch. They are mostly from the past but sometimes they can be from the future if the emotion behind whatever the planned action is, is strong enough. For example if it was an engagement ring and she picked it up she might be able to see who it was going to be given to and if they said yes.”
“How long is she going to be out for?” Nate asks calmer now that he knows what’s going on, although obviously still worried. He reaches out and takes the hand that isn’t gripping the mug tightly, “Fuck she’s as cold as ice.”
“That’s normal and as for how long she will be in her vision it entirely depends on what’s being shown to her. Her gift is dangerous because as you can see she is completely vulnerable when she’s in a vision. In time though she might be able to activate her shield if she feels like she’s being pulled into a vision and that would protect her.” He speculates getting lost in thought, “I’ll do a bit of research and let you know if its possible.”
“Thanks, man. I appreciate it. We are pretty much always around her but of course it’s better that she can protect herself if there ever is an occasion when we aren’t around.” Nate says gratefully and Cole nods his understanding.
“Between all of us, it will be easy to make sure she’s never alone until we figure out how she can use her shield whilst in a vision.” Levi reassures Nate and Nate sighs in relief.
“So what do we do?” I ask.
Her eyes are completely white and clouded and it creates an eerie effect that I know she’d get a kick out of.
“All we can do is wait,” Cole shrugs, “maybe look for more clues?”
“I’m going to stay with her, while you guys do that.” Nate says.
“Of course, Dude. Didn’t expect anything else.”
“Nate, take a picture for her. She’ll kill you if you don’t.” I chuckle and he grins.
“Good idea Sage, she’s going to love how badass she looks.”
