“I’m coming Beautiful, hold on.”He replies shocking me.
“Hurry!”I reply as I watch the figure stand and make his way towards me. taking his time and clearly enjoying my fear.
I have no idea how Kai plans on getting to me it’s clear that I’ve been trapped in some sort of vision by this bastard that refuses to give me his name.
I struggle against the manacles around my wrists, rubbing them raw and making them start to bleed in my efforts.
“Your blood smells divine Little Queen.” He compliments his voice filled with hunger.
Shit.
That was a bad decision on my part. I’ve pretty much just made myself more enticing to him. I decided to fall back on old habits.
“Wow, I must really be a threat to you, for you to go through this much trouble just for little old me, huh?” I taunt.
He freezes in his advance and a low growl builds from within him.
“On the contrary, you are of little consequence to me.” He says his voice tight and I can almost imagine his anger flashing in hiseyes, assuming he has them and not just gaping holes.
Oh wow, well done Sage as if you weren’t freaked out enough make it fucking worse.
“Bullshit.” I smirk my bitch one that never fails to piss people the fuck off.
He roars clearly not used to people backchatting him and rushes towards me wrapping his hand around my throat. His hood must be spelled because even though I can feel and smell his rancid breath on my face all I can see under his hood is a swirling mass of green and black smoke like magic that I’ve come to associate with him.
“Careful Daughter, I’m on my way.”Nyx’s voice is a welcome relief inside my brain. However her warning is worrying.
He dips his head and runs his nose up my throat making me shudder with disgust.
Chapter Twenty-Three
“Get the fuck away from her!” Kai growls terrifyingly from somewhere in the room, his voice dark and cold.
It sends a shiver down my spine, I’m unused to hearing him sound like that.
The creep spins on his heel releasing me and growling like some animal protecting his meal. Which I guess is what I am to him.
“How?” He says incredulously, before bellowing, “how did you get in here!?”
He asks although he clearly doesn’t expect an answer because before he’s finished his sentence he charges at Kai with a terrifying roar.
I want to scream Kai’s name but I hold back the impulse. He can clearly see the very pissed off fucker charging at him and all I’m going to succeed in doing is distracting him and potentially causing him to make a mistake. I will not be responsible for causing Kai harm, even if it is inadvertently.
Instead I dare not take my eyes off of him, as I pull against my restraints. In seconds Kai has dropped his glamour and drawn his curved swords that he’s so fond of.
“Impossible!” The creep roars in reaction to seeing Kai in all of his demon glory. Something about the transformation not what the creepy fucker expected.
Kai’s horns seem to have grown larger than the last time I saw him with his glamour dropped, which actually wasn’t that long ago at all. Blazing between the points of them is a flickering flame, just like he had when he got angry earlier. His wings spread out behind him and propel him forward faster than I ever thought possible. The creep, as I’ve now dubbed him since he wants to remain all mysterious and shit, draws a large broad sword as if from thin air and swings just in time to stop Kai from making contact.
They parry back and forth, each clang of the swords making me wince.I know that Kai’s had training with swords simply because he loves them but this guy is ancient and experience always wins. The Creep throws Kai across the room, launching him quicker than his wings can snap out behind him and stop him from falling. He smashes into the grand table with such force that it snaps in two. I squeak unintentionally but thankfully quiet enough that it doesn’t distract him. He staggers to his feet preparing himself as the Creep comes at him again.
Where the fuck is Nyx?
She said she was on her way but there’s not even a hint of a sign that she’s coming.
Kai suddenly cries out in pain clutching his side and I feel a sharp slicing pain on my ribs. I quickly focus my magic and send what I’m hoping is healing down our Bond link. Kai raises his sword just in time to stop the devastating blow from the creep and starts to move easier as my purple and gold magic glows slightly on his side. He shoots me a brief sharp look, clearly not approving of my use of magic on him, I don’t know why, he needs it and I haven’t found my limit yet.
“Exactly, yet!”He replies through the Bond link, I must’ve sent my thought unintentionally through the link.“Don’t waste it, I can survive a small nick and I would never forgive myself if you were left vulnerable without your magic because of me!”He adds, impressively not breaking or faltering in his fight with the Creep.
