Page 47 of The Lost Ones
I'm literally seconds away from throwing all caution to the wind and telling them exactly what I'd like to do with them and what I want them to do to me, when Kai suddenly jumps out of the car.
I momentarily panic that he’s just jumped out of a moving car, when the haze of lust lifts and I realise that we’ve pulled up to large house, so the car is actually not moving.
I’m fully blaming the guys for this.
"Welcome home Beautiful." Kai chuckles as he welcomes me.
I take a deep calming breath shoving the last of my desire away and shooting Kai a mock glare. He knows exactly what they were doing to me.
Home.
That's what Kai called this place, my heart clenches. I've never had a home, at least, not a real one.
One where you feel loved and safe. I have never felt safe in my supposed home.Every now and then though, a fleeting blurry image of a home filled with laughter, love and the smell of roses flits across my mind, gone before I can fully grasp hold of it and study it further.I probably read about the place or caught a conversation from one of my classmates and it just stayed with me. I mean what else could it be?
Most likely, made it up as a young child to help me cope with my mother and it's just stuck, popping up when I'm in extra need of comfort.
Could this be my home though? When Kai said welcome home to me it sounded like that was his intention. Even after the short amount of time that I’ve known them, I know without a shadow of a doubt that my home is wherever, Levi, Jax, Hunter, Maverick and Kai are.
We could be living in a tent in the arctic but so long as I am surrounded by my guys, I will be happy, maybe a bit cold but happy. Theyhave become my home. I get out of the car and look up in awe at the large house in front of me. A quick glance around shows me what I missed on the way in since I was being distracted by Jax and Kai.Woodland and large expanses of grass surround the home. The house and grounds are honestly freaking huge, I suppose it makes sense that the guys would need this much space though.
I know they are family and they’re close but even family needs a break from each other sometimes and this house offers enough space for them to be able to have that.I can't wait to explore! I can feel all of the guys watching me, waiting for my reaction as my eyes continue to study the house and area around me. They seem to be nervously awaiting my reaction to their home, it makes my heart soften that it means so much to them what I think.
"It's stunning!" I say still trying to take in the sights around me.
I'm rewarded with five handsome smiles that literally make my heart skip a beat.
"I'm sorry there's not enough time for a tour now, Darling." Levi says apologetically as he leads us through the giant front door.
The lobby is light, airy and it surprisingly opens up on the left side of the house into a giant open plan lounge. The kitchen and dining area spans the entire length of the left side of the house. Directly in front of the front door is a large wooden staircase.Instead of being an open plan like the left side the right is split up into several rooms, doors running down a long hallway to the right of the stairs.I can see myself here, happy and at peace surrounded by the most important people in my life. I shake my head to dislodge the thought, it's a nice dream. We all drop our bags to the side of the huge front door then turn to go back to the SUV.
"Sorry Sweetheart, I promise we will show you around properly later, but we really need to get going or we're going to be late.” Hunter says, as he guides me from the house.
"Alright I guess I can wait until later." I smirk up at him.
We all pile back into the car and make the, thankfully uneventful, trip to the headquarters.
I don't know what I was expecting the mysterious headquarters to look like, but I definitely wasn’t thinking that it would look like the average and bland office building towering above me.
Once we are inside, we go through multiple security measures like metal detectors and pat downs. The guys did not like me having the pat down part in the slightest, which I found more than a little bit amusing since the old, grey haired man was very respectful and gave off a distinctly grandfatherly vibe. After finally getting through the intense security measures, I realise that the dull and unassuming exterior is another layer of security.Once I'm finally able to glance around. It's clear that no expense has been spared.
The floors are an exquisite white marble, there'sa well-known designer’s plush armchairs and coffee tables set up in a waiting area to the left and on the right there's even a freaking high-end coffee shop. All of the people I can see striding importantly around the cavernous lobby, are dressed in designer business suits and look impeccable.
I'm glad I made extra effort this morning with my clothing, although I still feel extremely underdressed and out of place. That is until I see a couple of people walk through the lobby dressed in combat trousers, black simple t-shirts and boots, mingling easily with the high-end suits, which puts me more at ease.I hadn't paid attention to what the guys were wearing this morning but now that I'm paying closer attention, I see that although they are dressed smartly, they are still dressed fairly casually compared to the suit monkeys around us.
They've also managed to surround me on all sides, whilst I was distracted studying everything around me.
We finally reach a large circular desk in the middle of the giant space. A blond woman, who is far too interested in my men for her own damn good, tells us to take the elevator straight up to Mr. S’s office.Apparently, he's expecting us.
"Well no shit blondie." I mutter under my breath, rolling my eyes.
The only person to hear me is Kai and he tries to hide his sudden laughter by coughing, causing the other guys to start paying attention to us. I reach out and pat him on the back.
"Oh no, are you ok Kai?” I say feigning concern, “You're not getting sick, are you?" I bat my eyelashes innocently at him all the while maintaining my look of concern.
Kai not able to hold it off anymore bursts into fits of laughter. The others exchange a look before Levi sighs and turns to the blond who keeps trying to touch my men, whilst giggling like they’ve said something funny and batting her eyelashes.
Barf.
