Page 112 of The Lost Ones
Fortunately no matter what I did and how hard I tried, I could not rush to her which in hindsight probably would’ve been a bad thing.
We all start to make our way towards her as she struggles to get up off of the floor. I feel like I’ve hit the gym hard and gone a couple of rounds with the guys and my supernatural side was already partial unlocked. I can’t even imagine what the others are going through or even Sage. She had so many gifts unlocked. Some of them, from what I could tell at least, even her parents didn’t realise that she had.
“Sage Darling are you ok?”I ask testing out our bond and hoping that its clearer now.
“I’m fine. Wobbly and feel like I’ve run a damn marathon!” She groans.
I ignore them as Kai and Jax devolve into an argument about who could get to Sage quicker by army crawling, or something along those lines anyway.
Now that I know that Sage is ok and joking with Kai and Jax. I take a second to figure out if anything is different about me. My claws aren’t even out and as I run my tongue over my teeth my fangs are missing too.
“Shit!” I hear Sage say worry lacing her tone and my attention immediately snaps back to her.
“Why aren’t they getting up? Did something go wrong?” She continues as she stumbles to her feet, obviously still in pain and tired.
“Careful Beautiful!” Kai calls out worriedly.
It’s too late though and we all watch as she starts to fall, within seconds I’m by her side and I’m not the only one all of my brothers having got here just as quick as me. It’s a futile effort on our part though as before she can even hit the ground her magic has wrapped her in gold and purple tendrils.
“Don’t touch them!” Nicole calls urgently. “The magic will harm you.”
“Shit, that was close!” Kai curses snatching his hand back.
Of course he was the one that was seconds away from touching the magic surrounding her. It’s then that I get a really good look at my brothers. It seems that seeing Sage fall triggered all of our supernatural sides to come out which isn’t entirely surprising.
Their new images may look different, especially Hunter, since he’s a wolf the size of a freaking a horse and I’m sure I’ll notice other changes in more detail when I’m not worrying about Sage but I do note that although different they are all familiar to me.
“Holy fuck guys we look awesome!” Kai exclaims.
“How do you know that you do too, dude?” Jax chuckles, his voice has changed become more musical somehow.
“Of course I do!” He smirks in reply and I roll my eyes.
“Holy fuck look at Sage!” Maverick suddenly exclaims and we each kneel down, getting as close as we dare to the magic surrounding her.
Sure enough, Sage’s long black hair is now a bright purple with strands of lighter purple and gold interwoven through it. It appears to be her only outward change, that we can see anyway.
“I didn’t know that happened to the Centre’s?” I ask turning my attention to Nicole.
“It doesn’t.” She answers simply studying Sage’s sleeping form.
I don’t have it in me to question her further right now as my gaze automatically gets pulled back towards to Sage.
“Is she ok?” Hunter ask’s worriedly, managing to turn himself back into his human form although he is fucking massive now.
Nicole’s eyes widen as she takes him in and I’m guessing he’s done something that he shouldn’t be able to do yet or something about his transformation is not the norm. I let it go again. When Sage is awake then we can ask all of the questions that are popping up. I won’t be able to focus enough until then, the guys haven’t even blinked at the things I’ve picked up on, so it’s safe to say that they’re too distracted as well.
“Erm, yes she’s ok. Her magic is protecting her. I can’t tell you exactly what is going on with her right now but I can tell you that whatever it is, it’s supposed to be happening. If we try to interfere her magic will lash out at us perceiving us as the threat.” Nicole explains and I frown I don’t like not being able to get to her. “All we can do now is wait.” She finishes.
“What’s going on in there!?” The Director calls.
I can honestly say that I forgot that the woman was here. Me and theguys are all on the same page as we ignore. The woman is up to something and I don’t fucking trust her.
“How the hell is he a high demon!?” She screeches and we all look to Nicole for an explanation as the Director continues to mutter and rant as she paces the edge of the circle.
“Levi isn’t just any kind of demon. The positioning of your horns means that you are actually one of the most powerful subspecies of demon known as a higher demon.” She starts to explain.
“I have horns?” I ask, reaching up to see if I really do or not.
