Page 48 of The Lost Ones
"Thank you Melanie.” He says politely.
I go to open my mouth as the bitch reaches to place her hand on Levi again, when Kai distracts me by throwing his arm around my shoulders and pulling me close to his side. The Sparks hum happily at the contact.
"Come on Beautiful," he says softly still chuckling as we walk towards the elevators.
We leave a confused and, from her expression, slightly pissed blonde behind. She looks like she can't fathom why the guys didn't stick around longer or respond to her flirting. At least that's the vibe I was getting from her constantly trying to touch my guys and practically bending backwards in order to stick her chest out as far as possible.
I had to make a joke out of it or I was going to throat punch her the next time she tried to lay a hand on one of them.I realise I'm being a bit territorial than is strictly rational, but I can't seem to help it.
I really did not like her touching them and the only reason I was ableto make a joke out of it and not throat punch the bitch was because my guys didn’t respond to her at all.
"Do I want to know what that was about you two?" Levi says seriously looking between me and Kai.
I can see the amusement in his eyes though, so I just shrug and glance back to the rapidly climbing numbers by the elevator door. Kai gives me a squeeze.
"It appears Beautiful was feeling a bit territorial and didn't like the way Melanie was flirting with us. She especially didn't like that she kept touching us." Kai states in a straightforward manner.
I can feel all of their eyes on me and I decide to explain so I don't come off as a crazy jealous woman.
"I either make a joke out of the situation or I throat punch her. I'm not normally like this but I absolutely cannot control it for some reason. I didn't think you'd all appreciate the second option so instead I chose the first. Kai heard me."
"I wouldn't have minded Little Star; she's been told by each of us on many occasions that we aren't interested and yet she persists." Jax sighs heavily.
I clench my fists, then take a deep breath and push that information aside to deal with later. Especially since we've finally arrived at what appears to be the top floor. Of course, it would be an office on the top floor, isn't it always in these sorts of situations?
As soon as the doors slide open, I'm moved and once again I find myself surrounded by my guys, protected on all sides.Levi and Maverick are in front of me, with Kai on my left, Jax on my right and Hunter following behind.I focus on my surroundings, it's even more luxurious up here than it was down in the lobby. The carpet is thick and sinks slightly with each step I take. The light grey walls are lined with what I think are original paintings by famous artists.Everything just screams money! I have a sudden feeling of Deja vu like I've walked this hallway before, which makes absolutely no sense.
It feels like there’s a memory floating on the edge of my subconscious and whenever I get close to bringing it to the forefront of my mind and try to make the picture clearer, I get a sharp stabbing pain in my head.I decide to give up for now and focus on the double doors at the end of the hallway, assuming this is our destination. I am proven correct when Levi flings the doors open without knocking.
I guess they are more familiar with Mr. S than I thought.
"Ah boys I'm so happy to see you!" A voice booms from in front of us.I can't see anything though since the guys are still in formation around me.
The voice seems friendly though and . . . Familiar?
"Not that I'd expect any less from a Soulmate Bond but are you going to let me meet Miss Sage? There's no threat here boys.” He says kindly buthis voice is firm.
A couple of the guys shuffle on their feet seemingly a bit embarrassed about their behaviour. Finally, Levi and Maverick step aside and allow me to get the first good look at Mr. S. I'm struck once again by an overwhelming sense of familiarity.
Mr. S is in his mid-thirties with chocolate brown hair and matching dark brown eyes that have a couple of laughter lines in the corners, although I get the feeling that he hasn't been truly happy for a while, his eyes have a sadness in them that he tries to hide. He seems to be frozen as his eyes run across my face seemingly stuck for words. I start to shift under his close scrutiny and Levi notices my unease.
"Mr. S?" He questions, clearing his throat to get his attention.
Mr. S seems to snap himself out of his scrutiny and shakes his head slightly.
"I'm sorry Dear you just seem so familiar it's almost like . . .” He trails off shaking his head again.
I open my mouth to reply that he seems remarkably familiar to me too when the double doors we just walked through suddenly crash open, making an almighty bang as they hit the walls. I suddenly find myself pressed against the wall to our right with a line of strong backs in front of me.Totally wrong timing but I can't help but admire their strong, broad shoulders. There's just something about a man’s back, maybe I'm odd. I shake my head to clear my thoughts, it’s so not the time. All of them are crouched into a fighting stance ready to defend me.
"Where is she!?" A strong voice demands.
"What?" Mr. S questions obviously confused but not concerned about the newcomer’s presence.
"I felt her magical signature Thomas, after all this time searching, I found her signature and she's in the building. Sagely-Wren is here."
I'm beyond confused about what's going on, how does this man know my full name? I haven’t even told the guys my full name. One by one everyone in the room turns, astonished and shock looks to me as my guys separate to look back at me too.
