“Might be a good idea.” I mutter.
“Because of the unpredictability of guns and how difficult it is to procure bullets made out of the right material for them. We use swords, daggers and sometimes even bows and arrows. Of course you also use the gifts that come from your supernatural side. You’ll learn more about that in your combat lesson. You’ll also learn how to ride and fight from horseback in those lessons as well. Since in the fae and Demon realms there are no other forms of transportation and when you do jobs over there it will be an essential skill for you to have. One things for certain, unlike what is portrayed by Hollywood I can promise you that silver and wood will not do a damn thing to any supernatural you come across.” He chuckles. “We will be starting with the demon realm next lesson since that’s the place you’re more likely to be sent to for more training if you choose. Black Onyx academy is a bit more picky and exclusive but you would be incredibly lucky to train there if they let you.” He finishes just as the bell rings signalling the end of the day.
Which means dinner and I’m starving. Today has been ridiculously long. It also means that hopefully we should get answers from Nicole about why we have to keep our true strength and even our true forms hidden from everyone. It’s been made clear throughout the day that no one else feels the way we do about our supernatural sides. I’ve overheard a few questions and it’s pretty obvious that the majority of students here think of their supernatural sides as separate to themselves and I can’t help but think that, that may bring up issues with them meshing together and working well.
“Just a heads up Sage,” Cole suddenly says from behind me as we walk out the door.
“Shit dude I had no idea you were in this class!” I exclaim suddenly making him chuckle and shrug.
“I just wanted to let you know that Rebecca,” Coles starts to say and then chuckles at the confused look on my face before he explains, “the girl from Centre class and combat,” I nod that I remember and then he carries on, “anyway she and her Bonded are out for blood after that stunt you pulled. It showed an incredible amount of power and she was already jealous as fuck of you all. I gotta go but I’ll see you at dinner.” He calls as he rushes down the crowded hallway in the opposite direction to the rest of the students.
“Well that sounds like fun.” Hunter smirks his eyes flashing to his gorgeous wolf eyes and making my heart thump hard in my chest before they go back to normal.
I grin as I walk up to him placing my hand on his massive chest and moving up onto my tip toes, even then he has to duck quite a ways before I can reach him.
“I thought we were being careful around the other students.” Hunt smirks his lips mere millimetres away from mine.
“I don’t give a fuck any more. I love it when your eyes flash to your true self. Besides I missed kissing you today.” I grin.
His lips crash down onto mine and his large hands run down the side of my waist and over my hips. As he hoists me up, his arms under my ass and bringing me higher up so he can kiss me easier. My hand cradles his cheek as our kiss deepens and his tongue strokes mine.
God I’ve missed kissing him today.
“Alright you two, you’re giving the hallway a good show and making me horny as hell!” Kai announces and I immediately break away from Hunter and burst out laughing making the others laugh too.
“You’re a dick!” Hunt chuckles his voice rough.
“True, but she was starting to spark.” Jax says quietly low enough that the surrounding students can’t hear.
“Shit I’m sorry Hunter, I forgot about that.” As I rub at the singe marks on his shirt.
Why is it always my fire that comes out to play first?
“No problem, Sweetheart. I love that I can get you hot.” He smirks, clearly proud of himself and making the others laugh as he reluctantly puts me down.
“Come on let’s go eat. We’ve got to meet with Nicole yet.” Levi says.
“Yeah and me and Erin are playing with our gifts after the meeting with Nicole too and Dash and Mav are going to do research. I want to see if I can do something with these swords too. Nyx used them in that vision and if they really are the same I should be able to do something with them.” I say glancing down at my arms as we get in the line for the food.
“I’ll check out the display cases whilst we do some research later and see if they really are the same swords that were down there and from your vision.” Maverick says and I lean over and kiss him on the cheek gently in thanks making him smile.
I load my plate up with roast chicken, mash potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips and a generous helping of gravy. It looks and smells delicious and I’m incredibly grateful that for all the faults this training academy has it sure as hell seems to feed us well enough. We take our seats on the table next to Erin and her guys and give them brief greetings, all of us tired and on edge now. Not only from the long day but also from holding our human glamours. At least that’s why I’m so bone tired anyway.
The conversation is light as we eat and I actually start to relax slightly but I’m starting to get anxious about talking to Nicole. I feel like not showing our true power or at least a portion of it is doing the opposite of what Nicole intended and is painting a target on our backs. Like with that dickhead bonded group in combat.
Something catches my eye, moving towards me fast and without thinking I spin and catch it. I play with energy ball in my hands, I know instinctively that the ball was meant to do harm.
The dining hall falls silent as my guys react to the threat on my life.
Within seconds our glamours are dropped and we’re on our feet, Erin and her team taking up defensive positions behind us. Students scramble out of the chairs next to us and move away.
My eyes land on Rebecca and her team who are trying to look defiant in the face of our power.
I glance at my guys briefly noting that although they’ve dropped some of their glamour they haven’t given away the details that seemed to freak Nicole out. Like Levi’s horns and Hunter’s multi-coloured eyes.
I know that my eyes have changed colour when my power raised from within so I could catch the energy ball thrown in my direction. I surreptitiously check my hair glad that it’s my usual colour and I’m not giving anything away.
