“What!?” I say defensively, “it’s not my fault you’re all hot as fuck and thanks to the stupid gifts we haven’t gotten nearly as close as I want to.”
They all just stare at me their eyes heated. Hunter pulls me closer.
“I definitely do not miss those days.” Kysen chuckles, clearly amused by it all. “You’ll learn to control it well enough that you won’t set anything on fire or explode anything within the first week or so at the academy. They used to do it in the second semester but no one could help themselves and they got fed up of repairing various parts of the building or putting fire’s out so they moved it to the first week.” Kysen chuckles.
“You can’t be serious.” Hunter asks smirking.
“I am. Even now It’s always amusing seeing the guilty parties embarrassed as fuck but paraded in front the rest of us.” Kysen chuckles.
“One of my brothers, Tyler, got caught when him and his partner ended up floating all the books in the library and making them fly around erratically. Several students and instructors had to go to the infirmary.Tyler being the kind of person he is was proud as fuck and strutted out of there like he owned the damn place!” He adds shaking his head, his eyes filled with mirth.
“Yeah sounds familiar.” Levi chuckles, “I can think of a couple of people that would do the same.” He says eyeing Jax and Kai.
I grin. I can absolutely see them being damn proud rather than embarrassed.
“So it’s a fairly new thing that they teach control in the first week then rather than the second semester?” Maverick asks.
“Oh no that’s been the rule for decades now. Ty couldn’t even wait a day. At least the others all got caught out towards the end of the week.” Kysen replies rolling his eyes and making us chuckle.
“Uh oh, that doesn’t look good.” Hunter suddenly says pointing to the darkening sky rolling with black ominous clouds tinged with red.
“Looks like there’s a storm rolling in.” Kysen muses. “They get pretty violent here and come in quickly. We need find shelter and set up camp.”
He steers us through some trees and away from the road.
“Will it be safe to be in the woods with a storm?” Jax asks.
“It’s more safe then staying exposed on the road. Some bandits use the cover of storms to steal and attack people.”
“Woods it is then.” Kai mutters just as thunder booms overhead, louder than I have ever heard it.
I love thunder and lightning but usually only from the comfort of inside. Where I can enjoy it but not get cold or wet. We quickly find a place deep enough in the trees that we shouldn’t run in to anyone else. I hop off of Dave and start to tie him up as the others start to set up the tent big enough for us all and bring in the supplies we will need to wait out the storm.
“Don’t tie your horse up, Sage.” Kysen says, coming to stand next to me. “We want them to be able to escape falling debris if they need to.” He explains.
“Thanks. I’m not really used to this. The guys all have training, since they were all in the military before any of this happened.” I say pulling some of the food out of my saddle bags.
“That can’t be easy but hey on the plus side at least it’s not all of you who don’t know what your doing.” He jokes grinning at me and making me chuckle.
“That is a very good point.” I concede making my way into the tent both Kysen and my arms loaded up with supplies.
I’ve just stepped foot in the tent when the sky opens and red rain pours from the sky in sheets. The wind picks up and howls through the trees. It may not be night time yet but the clouds have made it dark enough that it seems like it is.
“The red rain here is kind of creepy.” Kai mutters as he watches the drips on the outside of the tent. Through the cream coloured fabric itlooks even darker making it seem like blood dripping down the outside of the tent.
Definitely creepy.
“The lightening here is red as well but I wouldn’t suggest going out in that to try and see it.” Kysen says.
“Yeah, I’m ok thanks.” Hunter agrees.
“We may as well eat. I’m starving.” Kai says.
“You’re always starving!” I reply and he winks at me grinning.
“I could eat.” Maverick shrugs.
“Sure there’s not much else that we can do right now.” Levi agrees as he starts to hand out the dried meat, fruit and bread that is surprisingly still fresh.
