Page 116 of The Lost Ones
“I need to grab some stuff from my room. I know we can’t sleep there now and I can’t be bothered to grab all my stuff but I need to get stuff for lessons tomorrow and shit!” Erin grumbles as we reach the top of the stairs.
“Good idea, we’ll wait here for you and I can help grab the rest of your stuff after classes tomorrow if you want?” I offer.
“Thanks Sage I appreciate it!” Erin replies.
We wait whilst they all grab their stuff for tonight and tomorrow and I rest my head on Levi’s wide chest as Kai grabs my hand. Everyone’s silent just trying to absorb the events of the last few hours. I think I always assumed that something would go a bit hinky with it. I mean let’s face it so far nothing has exactly gone according to plan not even the supposedly simple task of getting here, I just didn’t quite expect it to be such a massive detour. Of course, I am glad that the outcome means that Erin, Kyle and the others are not only by our sides but able to protect themselves as well.
“Come on, I’m starving.” Damon yells, startling me.
“Dude do you have to be so loud?” Nate jokes sticking his finger in his ear like he’s gone deaf.
“Yep!” Damon says simply making us all chuckle.
Surprisingly it must be late enough that no one still has their doors open, being not so subtle about watching us walk past. Nevertheless we walk down silently, all of us too tired to deal with any sort of confrontation right now. At least I am, so I’m assuming the others are too.
“What the fuck?” Kai curses quietly as he reaches our door first and yanks off a piece of paper. “Never mind guys it’s just a note from Nicole, they didn’t catch up with Director in time to stop her from sending an email out to the instructors about what happened with us but they did catch her just in time to stop her from sending an email out to the entirety of the school and everyone’s next of kin. Which would have been an effective way to tell the majority of the supernatural community.” Kai frowns the more he reads as we let ourselves into our room and settle down.
“I honestly have no idea what game that woman’s playing. She confuses the fuck out of me.” Jax says.
“One things for sure we can’t fucking trust her.” Kai adds.
“I’ve never liked her, there’s something just wrong about her. We’re going to drop our stuff in our room and check it out quickly before we come and eat.” Jett says.
As soon as the door shuts behind them, I drop my hold on my human side and instantly take a breath of relief. The guys soon follow my lead and we all visibly relax, the tension fading from us.
“I hope that it gets easier to keep our human forms because at the moment it feels like holding on to a stretched rubber band that’s going to snap at any moment.” Maverick says taking a deep breath.
“It’s hard enough for me to keep it up and I only have to change my eyes back to normal and reduce my size a bit. When I stop hiding them though, I don’t feel like I’m uncomfortable because I’m not in my wolf form. It doesn’t make much sense!” Hunter tries to explain.
“I’m the same though, my only differences outwardly are my hair and apparently my eyes but it makes me feel twitchy and uncomfortable to hide them. I really don’t like it!” I add agreeing with him.
“Dude our room is a thousand times nicer than my room on the human side and we share a living space too. Means we don’t have to sneak into each other’s room’s!” Erin starts talking the second she enters the room and drops her human façade almost immediately the others following her lead.
“That feels so much better, how is it possible that I hate my human costume now?” Damon asks.
“Dude that sounds so wrong!” Hunter chuckles.
“I think it’s called a glamour actually. Although when I read about it, it described how we feel about our human glamours about a persons supernatural side. We aren’t supposed to feel like our human sides are our glamours.” Dash tells us.
“You are full of all sorts of useful information.” Erin praises him and his ears tint red adorably.
“I have to admit I much more prefer the term glamour. I say we use it!” I add shrugging.
“Well anything’s better than human costume.” Kai smirks making Damon stick his middle finger up at him and the rest of us laugh.
We’ve barely settled down when there’s a knock at the door and we all share a questioning look, wondering who’d be knocking on the door this late.
“It’s probably someone bringing us food up and our schedules.” Levi says, “I’ll get it.” He groans as he rolls his massive shoulders and puts his human glamour back on.
“I’ll help.” Jett replies doing the same and following Levi to the door.
Fortunately for the rest of us the seating area where we are is not visible from the door and it’s clear that the Director said something to Becky who keeps trying to peer around Levi and Jett, if their constant shifting isanything to go by.
“Ok, thanks Becky.” Jett says firmly and Becky giggles.
“Dude I’m about two seconds away from seeing how far I can throw the bitch!” Erin warns and I grin making no move to stop her, she smirks at me, “Aren’t you going to stop me?”
“Where’s the fun in that?” I ask, “Besides I’d help!” I shrug and my guys groan as Erin holds her fist out to me to bump.
