Page 66 of The Lost Ones
“Ok I agree, I don’t want my team to stay here any longer than truly necessary but you’re right we need more information.” Jett agrees.
“Are you all well enough to fight?” I ask them, “I highly doubt we are going to be able to just walk out.”
“Yeah we should be ok, battered and bruised but none of us have any broken bones.” Erin answers me.
“Once we are out of here, how’re we going to get hold of the agency to let them know where we are and to send back up?” The quiet twin asks.
This is ridiculous, I can’t keep calling him quiet twin but before I can ask Erin interrupts.
“That’s Damon.” She tells me, and I grin my thanks.
“Once we are out of the room one of us can search for a cell phone or anything that we can send a message out on. They’re bound to have them.” Jett suggests, and we nod in agreement.
It isn’t long before Brent decides to make another appearance looking more pissed than I have ever seen him and I internally curse. I straighten my spine and stare defiantly into his rage filled eyes.
“Who are they?” He screams at me, once again yanking me up by my hair. This time he pulls so swiftly and hard that my shoulder dislocates, and I swallow back a scream of pain.
“Who?” I question, proud when my voice comes out steadily.
He shakes me roughly, jostling my shoulder. He places his other hand around my throat squeezing tightly. I struggle to bring enough air into my lungs.
“Leave her the fuck alone!” Erin screams.
“Those men you were found with!” He screams at me completely ignoring Erin, “I was told how close you seemed to be, how devoted they were to you, do you have any fucking idea what that makes me look like!?” He rages on, his hand tightening even more around my throat. “Having my girlfriend whore herself out!”
I know he’s still yelling but his voice seems as if it’s at the end of a tunnel, the edge of my vision starts to grey, and I start to panic that he might actually kill me. At the very last second, he releases the hold he has on my throat, and I gulp air down greedily as my vision finally blacks completely and I pass out.
I’m once again aware that I’m unconscious. This time though I’m not falling into a dream or memory, thank fuck. My instincts ping at me and I listen to the feeling, as I picture the glowing golden bond lines that attach me to my guys. I know they are far away but if I can just get a message to them, theymay be able to find us. I call out to them and almost immediately I sense their shock and worry.
“Sage!” Levi shouts.
I sigh happily before getting down to business.
“I’m here.” I reply but can’t continue as they all start shouting questions at me.
“GUYS!” I yell causing them all to shut up. “I don’t know how long I have, I’m relatively unhurt and I’m working on a way to get free.”
“We know you’re hurt, Beautiful. We can feel it through the bond.” Kai growls, the sound so unlike his happy self that I know he’s hanging on to his calm by a thread.
“It’s alright Kai, I’ll be back home with you soon.” I reassure him. “I’m with Jett’s team, Erin’s awesome by the way. We are in some type of warehouse. I checked with them and I had been out for twenty minutes from the time they dropped me off, so it will be guess work and a long shot. I’m not sure how long it took to get here but if you can work out the timings and check traffic cameras, I’m seriously hoping you’ll be able to find us. I know it’s isolated, I can’t hear any other sounds so it’s not near working factories,” I pause as an idea forms. “I think you may be able to follow the Soulmate Bond to me but I’m not certain.”
“Okay, sweetheart, good work. Are you ok?” Hunter asks worriedly.
“I remembered what happened in the missing year.” I say.
“What!?” Jax rumbles “How?”
“Now is not the time guys,” Maverick joins in. “Let’s bring our girl home.”
My heart warms at his words and the resounding agreement from the others.
“Guys . . .”
Kai
My heart slams in my chest as we lose contact with Sage. All of us screaming her name. The panic tries to overtake me forcing me to the place where I lose myself. I take a deep breath, if I let it win now, I’ll be no good to Sage and she needs me, she needs all of us. I have never been as terrified as I was when she got taken. We all lost our shit for a moment.
“Guys!” I yell loudly finally managing to gain their attention. “She needs us to stay calm.”
