Page 23 of The Lost Ones
"It seems that the sparks between me and Sage have gotten stronger." Kai explains whilst setting us upright.
I step away from him slightly and even though it's not too far, I feel the loss immensely and have to force myself not to move back towards him.
This is extremely weird.
It's starting to get uncomfortable like an itch under my skin that Ican’t scratch. I grab Hunters hand as he holds it out to me and it seems to marginally calm the ache in my chest caused by Kai. Before the ache comes back, I wave quickly to everyone and drag Hunter out the door to take me home.
The drive home doesn't take long, and we spend it learning a little bit more about each other. I learn that his favourite colour is dark blue, he loves pizza and likes working on cars and motorbikes in his spare time. The further away we drive the less the ache in my chest becomes, it’s still there but I don't have the overwhelming need to be close to Kai anymore.
What the hell is going on with me?
All too soon we arrive back at my house.I have Hunter park the car further down the road from the house just in case my mother is still awake.
"You have your phone?" Hunter questions.
A suddenly serious and dark glare etched on his face.
I nod.
"You remember how to use the app?"
"Yes Hunter, Levi showed me how it worked before we left. I'll be okay and if I need you, I will ring. I promise."
"Ok stay safe Sage, Sweetheart.” He leans in and kisses me gently on the cheek lingering a while and making the sparks last longer.
I sigh in contentment before I gather myself. Put my wall back up and exit the car. I turn once to wave at him before I make my way to my house and silently through the door.
I breathe a heavy sigh of relief as I notice my mother passed out on the couch.I make my way quickly upstairs taking a quick shower before locking my bedroom door and collapsing into bed. I send each of the guys a text saying that I'm okay and that I'm going to sleep.
I fall into a deep sleep before I can get their replies.
Kai
"What the hell was that?" Maverick asks me.
"The fuck if I know brother."
"What happened exactly?" Levi asks as Jax just watches silently observing.
I run a hand through my red hair.
"I kissed her and like what happens with all of us, the sparks came but they were stronger, a lot fucking stronger. So strong they made my knees buckle. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling in the slightest." I scrub a hand over my face, "as soon as she pulled away though I had this incredibleneed to have her closer to me. I had to force myself to stay where I was. It was becoming an incredibly uncomfortable feeling but then she grabbed Hunters hand and the ache dimmed slightly. The longer she's been gone the more it has lessened. The ache is still there but it's not overwhelming or uncomfortable anymore."
They all stare at me in shock and confusion.
"What the hell is going on?" Jax questions Levi.
"I'd like to know too. We all feel the sparks with her, and I don't know about you guys but that has never happened to me before. She knew Kai's middle name and the triplets’ last name. She is supposed to be here with us. With all of us.” Hunter finishes quietly but firmly, having just come through the door whilst I've been explaining what happened.
He's right. I've known since the second I laid my eyes on her that she belonged with me, with us.
How is that possible though?
"Did you notice that the same side that she was hurt is also the same side that we all kept having those strange intense pains and bruises, then having them disappear?" Maverick asks.
"Holy fuck he's right!" I exclaim.
"They're linked, they have to be." Jax adds.
