“You have someone on it?”

I nod. “Dante is looking into it for me.” I rub my temples, lost in my thoughts. “I am just wondering how far I should dig.”

“Do what you need to do,” he says simply. “You have my approval.” He looks at me for a while. “So,” he muses. “I don’t want to sound too curious…”

I raise my brows. “Yes?”

“When will you introduce your mate to us? I am dying to meet her,” he smiles at me. “You searched so long to find her… is this the reason you are going so slow with her?”

“I don’t want to alienate her,” I admit. “I don’t care for our differing ranks or that she is not a Lycan, but her life will change drastically once she comes to live with us here.” I pause. “She hasn’t met Fenris yet. And I haven’t talked to her about her new rank and role once we make it official.”

He sighs. “Yes,” he mutters. “I understand.”

“I just found her. Is it wrong to want to spend some time with her and keep her to myself before sharing her with the world? At least for a few weeks…”

“Not at all,” he chuckles. “If I had my way back then with your mother, I would have taken her on a long vacation first, but unfortunately, we were thrown into our positions immediately and had to take over the pack.” He sighs. “Certain people might target her, though, for being with you. You might want to watch out for that.”

“I will.”

Chapter 12 A stalker

*ANNALISE*

Ican’tshakeitoff, the feeling of someone following me. But whenever I turn around to check my surroundings, there is no one. Since receiving the photos, I find myself constantly on edge. How can I sleep knowing someone was in my room while I was inside… when someone is following me to take photos, stalking me?

But who is it?

I know, as an Omega, my senses are not the sharpest, but my wolf and I aren’t stupid. We can sense danger. Maybe it’s just a bunch of guys or girls playing a prank on me? By now, I am sure the photos were just a stupid prank by one of Liam’s fans, but still, they have put me on edge.

Are you all right, dear?

I did not expect Liam to mind-link me in the middle of the day. I almost gasp in surprise, glad I can keep my reaction in check at the last minute. The last thing I want is unwanted attention in class.Yes.I answer.

That’s not true.His answer comes promptly. Of course he knows something is off. He probably feels my restlessness.Is there something wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Do you need help?

His worry touches me. He has this hard exterior, and barely smiles. He always seems so controlled. But to me… he shows me a side he normally keeps a secret. And it makes me incredibly happy.

I don’t want to worry him further though. I’m his mate, the mate of a Lycan. I need to be able to solve my problems alone. One day I might become Luna of a pack, so how can I protect others when I can’t even protect myself? From something so minor on top of that?

But that’s not all. I feel all of this is happening because of my relationship to Liam and the sudden attention I’m receiving. I don’t really know how to handle it, and I think he might blame himself for it.

I debate with myself for a while before I decide to be honest with him. Well, half honest. He doesn’t need to know about the photos. They were probably just a stupid prank by his hordes of fangirls. But that feeling of being watched really unsettles me…

Ever since that whole Lauren fiasco, I’m a bit on the edge. I didn’t sleep well,I admit.

Did someone say something to you again?He inquires.

No, but sometimes I get the feeling someone is watching me.I pause.Might be one of the girls who wants to get a glimpse of you. This, and I’m already stressing over my exams. As I said, I’m just a bit nervous.

Do I need to be worried?He asks, and by his tone, I know he already is.

No, it’s probably nothing.
