“Awesome, babe, that’s why I love you!”
“Jun, depending on how Flora will structure everything, you will either be on the Beta’s floor or one below that with the elite warriors. Think about what kind of living space you would like. Your Alpha is going to inquire about it soon.”
He looks at me, mouth open. “Y-Yes Luna,” he stutters.
Over the next few hours, Jun shows us everything. I take notes about the living situations, the infirmary, nursery, and other structures. I also take photos for Flora and our architects to see. The orphanage has already been moved into the packhouse. The weakest need the most support and protection.
We go to take a look at the outskirts. Red Claw is a beautiful place, with wide forests and romantic meadows. There is a lake and a waterfall. There is even a path to a cliff. Marcus was an idiot for allowing this place to get worn down from neglect and disrepair.
Before we return, I decide to take a detour to meet some of the wolves on patrol. I have Jun lead me to one, in particular, a young black-haired man with kind eyes. He is currently on his break. “Xander?” I ask him.
He scrambles to his feet, eyes widening. “Luna,” he blurts out. “It’s an honor!”
“I apologize for interrupting your break.”
“Not at all,” he shakes his head. “How can I help you?”
Give us some room, please,I link Ari and Jun, who immediately oblige and leave. They stay nearby, sitting down on one of the fallen trees. From the corner of my eye, I see them chatting with each other.
“I wanted to see how you and Linda are doing,” I ask, trying to choose my words carefully. After I visited Marcus’ victims, Linda’s fate in particular stuck with me. I’ve visited the victims a few more times, and I know that Linda has returned to her mate.
Xander’s eyes are clouded over in sadness. “She’s hanging in there,” he mutters. “She blames herself so much, and I wish I could take all the pain and sorrow away from her.”
I hadn’t met Xander before but seeing and talking to him now puts my mind at ease. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. “If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask,” I tell him. “If you ever feel things might be too much for Linda or that she might need to talk to a fellow woman, by all means, link me.”
He nods thankfully. “Thank you so much, Luna. And thank you for providing her with a therapist. I think it is truly helping.”
“It will be a long journey,” I say quietly. “But she has a wonderful mate at her side, and I know you will be there for her.”
He smiles proudly at my praise and nods.
I decide not to pry any further and return to Ari and Jun. I just wanted to see for myself that Linda is getting the support she needs. Now, I need to trust her mate that he will tell me in case she needs further help.
On our way back to the packhouse, I mentally go over my plans for the near future. The next step will be working on health-oriented plans. I’ll do so with Ella and Renata. One of Jace’s therapists found her mate here, so she will be staying. We are going to hire a few more, as well as physiotherapists. I’m also thinking about yoga and meditation classes.
And then…we have the official Alpha and Luna inauguration ceremony to plan, with representatives from the Council present who will bless me and make me a Princess of the Council. Nervousness and excitement fill me at the thought. I still feel a bit overwhelmed by everything, but over the last few days, I realized… I really love what I’m doing here. I can’t wait to turn all my ideas into reality. I’m so proud of Liam and how he has been handling the more sensitive issues.
He is going to be a fantastic Alpha.

*ELLA*
Iclosethedoorto mine and Dante’s apartment behind me, taking a deep breath. My mate’s scent immediately engulfs me, making me feel at home. It doesn’t matter where we are. Dante has this effect on me. Most of the time, I’m rather tense and guarded, but I can feel myself getting calmer and… almost happy when he is around. I was so scared of the mate bond. I was certain no one would ever want me. I saw what the bond did to Annie, how both she and Liam grew so much, and it gives me hope. But still, change scares me, so my first instinct was to just run from Dante and the bond forming between us.
I’m so glad I listened to Annie’s advice and decided to give him a chance.
I follow the scent to the kitchen, where I see Dante leaning against the kitchen island. We recently moved into the Beta suite and are still trying to adapt to the new situation.
“Ah,” he perks up when he sees me and turns around to face me, a beautiful smile curling his lips. “Finished for today?”
He always looks at me like I’m something special, like I’m beautiful and special. Not just Ella. “Just finished training,” I answer, my heart skipping a beat at the way he looks at me. I want to appear confident and sassy, but I can’t. I can only be myself when I talk to him.
I take a closer look at him like I always do when I’m sure he is not looking at me directly. He has the most beautiful face I’ve ever seen on a man. Not the kind of pretty beauty like Jun’s face… Dante is more handsome. He has a perfectly symmetrical facial structure, prominent cheekbones, luscious lips, a straight nose, perfectly cut black hair and a pair of stunning green eyes. He always looks so well put together and competent.
I’m certain he could attend a business meeting while fighting a horde of rogues at the same time. Unlike me. I always tend to look a bit rough.
