“Food is an important matter to attend to?” he asks dumbfounded, eyeing the plates in my hand.
“Food, and then I want to fulfill my mating duties,” I say dryly.
Ari laughs. Dante, however, stares at me for a moment.
“What? Is there something on my face?”
“I need to recover from that,” he smiles slightly. “To imagine you would joke like that… and…”
“Does it unsettle you?” I ask.
“Not at all. I’m thrilled that you open up so much more now.”
“Maybe you should open up too,” Ari points out. “To your mate, Ella. You could attend to your mate-duties too, just like your Alpha.”
My lips tug slightly.
“I…” he frowns. “Leave me out of it, Aryanna.”
“Just go and look for her,” Ari tells him bluntly. “You don’t need to mate with her yet, you know? But at least get something going for real!”
“I don’t want to pressure her,” he says with a sigh. “Especially because of our age gap and her history.”
“You act as if you are a grandpa,” Ari mutters, rolling her eyes.
She’s right in a way. Their age gap is bigger than usual, but not that big! I believe the Moon Goddess fated these two together to heal each other. Ella needs a calm, composed, and patient mate like Dante. And Dante needs someone with Ella’s fire and confidence but also with her initial trust problems as it would make her go slower.
I look at him thoughtfully. What are you afraid of?
He blinks.Is it that obvious?
I shrug.
If I lose her as well, I won’t be able to come back from it again…
You won’t lose her,I look at him insistently. You can’t run away from her because you are scared of losing her. You can’t seal your destiny like that.
He sighs.I know you are right. And it’s not like I can let her go anyway. He smiles slightly.I’m already too attached.
Yes, it happens too fast, I think. When I first met Annalise, I never thought I would fall completely in love with her that quickly. But I did, and now I’m never giving her up.
Chapter fifty-nine
Chapter 59 The necklace
*ANNALISE*
Liamwasvisitinghisfamily, so I took advantage of the time to catch up with my friends, fulfill a few pack duties, take a long bath and grab a good book. That was the plan, but then my thoughts kept shifting towards Liam and what I want him to do to me tonight. I am so wet for him, and he isn’t even here. I am trying to settle down in our bed, push my dirty thoughts away, and focus on my book when I finally hear his footsteps.
Leah stirs in my mind instantly. Ever since Liam was captured, Leah has been particularly nervous when he isn’t around. And since I became Luna, both our senses are heightened. I am not used to it. Now I feel everything so much more intensely and Leah does too. She is so much stronger now.
But she is also warier, easier to upset.
When Liam steps into the room, I basically drop my book and jump into his arms. I wrap my legs around his waist, my arms around his neck. He puts the plate with food aside and wraps his right arm around my hips, his hand on my ass. He growls, the food is obviously forgotten.
“I missed you,” I say breathlessly.
“How much?” he demands to know.
