Page 19 of An Omega for the Lycan Prince
I can feel Leah inside me stirring. She calls out for her mate as I do. There are not only sparks when he touches me but sudden warmth too.
For a split second, all my doubts and fears and insecurities are gone. All I can see is the magical creature in front of me, the way his eyes shine affectionately all of a sudden, the way he looks at me like I am an angel.
“I, Annalise Preston, accept you, Liam Alcott, as my mate.”
For a moment, we keep standing like that, then he carefully takes my face between his hands and pulls me into a soft kiss. It’s tender, almost like he is afraid he might break me if he went too fast. My heart is close to bursting.
My lips burn.
My hands.
I want it to never stop.
I have never felt this intensely before. I didn’t know it would feel this way. I was constantly bemused by my parents, thinking they were silly in their behavior towards each other.
I was such an idiot.
Eventually, we draw apart and take our seats in Liam’s car again. Poor Emerson has waited far too long for us.
Liam’s face is slightly flushed. His eyes seem to sparkle with joy. “Take us back to Annalise’s college, Emerson.”
The other man nods, and I swear I see him smile.
“When will you be done studying tomorrow?” Liam asks.
“Around late afternoon.”
“I will pick you up then,” he types something on his phone. “5 PM?”
I nod, dumbfounded. Seeing his phone makes me realize something, though. “Oh, I don’t even have your number.”
“My…” He looks at me. To my utter disbelief, he smiles, an open and real smile. “You can have my number, my mate,” he says, reaching out his hand for me to give him my phone. He types in his number swiftly before handing it back. “I doubt you will need it, though.”
“Why?”
Because, my Annalise, now that we accepted each other as mates, we share a mind-link through our bond, and it works long distance too.
“WHAT!?” I blurt out. “Without me being in your pack? Without us having marked each other? How is that possible?” I know I should be able to feel his pain, know if he betrayed me, and sense some of his emotions… however a mind-link?
You are the mate of a royal Lycan. What did you expect?
I don’t know what I expected, but definitely not THAT! Through the mind-link, there is something in his voice, something rawer, more feral. I assume he is one with his wolf that way.
You assume correctly. We like that you are so smart and honest. And so feisty.
I can’t help but flush furiously. Again, he switches from hot to cold to hot so freaking fast. I am almost relieved that Emerson halts the car. Before I can open the door, though, Liam reaches over, opening it for me. His hair tickles my nose. I can see his neck and his shoulders stretching beneath the fabric of his shirt. His scent almost knocks me unconscious, and I can definitely feel Leah coming to the surface again. She wants nothing more than to dig her nose into his hair, to make me grab his strong arms and have him ravish me then and there.
I need to get out of here to save my dignity.
Definitely!
Fast.
Liam looks at me. His eyes are darker again, almost black.Oh, Annalise. His voice is raw and full of want.Don’t tease us too much.
