Jun nods politely. “Jun Noshimuri.”
“So, you said you find me attractive, Jun?” he flirts.
Jun nods. “Yes, indeed,” he says calmly. “You are quite the sight.”
Dave blinks in surprise again while the rest of us giggle.
“When will the inauguration ceremony be?” Finn asks all of a sudden. “When you took over Red Claw, Liam told me you wanted to make sure everything is running well before celebrating. Dad told me everything is progressing fine, so?”
I nod. We have indeed made a lot of progress. The pack members are motivated and eager to find their place. We have a lot of them training now. Liam is even training some to become elite warriors. We also have the infirmary, nursery and orphanage running smoothly. And the buildings are almost finished. “The packhouse will be finished next week or the week after, plus the landscape architect is still working on the garden.”
“We’ve also only recently found some exiled pack members,” I add.
“Plus, Crescent Moon,” Celine muses. “It takes a while for everyone to adapt.”
I nod. “We are so lucky the pack is motivated.”
“Of course, they are,” Ella smiles proudly. “We have a strong Alpha and Luna. Every pack flourishes when the leadership is good.”
“Can’t say anything against that,” Finn agrees. “Silverlake runs great because Mom and Dad are a power couple.”
“So?” Harmony asks again. “The ceremony?”
“Oh right,” I chuckle. “Liam and I decided for it to happen three weeks from today. Dante is sending out the invitations this week.”
“A pity I can’t see it,” Dave sighs deeply.
I squeeze his hand, smiling sadly. “I wish you could be there, but…”
“I know.” He smiles at me. “You don’t need to explain, hun.”
“I’ll try to take a few photos,” Ella promises.
“Good enough,” Dave beams.
Finn leans back a bit, not engaging in the conversation. He seems to be thinking about something. Anders looks at him for a moment before his eyes turn glassy. He is linking him, and Anders seems surprised by what Finn tells him.
I’m curious to know, but I can’t possibly ask. Finn has the right to his secrets.
Chapter fifty-eight
Chapter 58 The mate-free zone
*ANNALISE*
Thereisclearlynotenough time to stuff everything from my law class into my brain. I love college, but I hate exams! Well… who doesn’t? At least Liam made sure I'm free from most other appointments for the next few days. He’s so supportive! my heart swells when I think about how well he treats me.
I’ve been in our suite the whole afternoon trying to do some last-minute studying. Suddenly, the door opens, and my mate comes in. Liam puts down a plate in front of me. A cocktail shrimp sandwich ? It looks delicious. Marilou seems to enjoy coming up with new ideas. She will go to cooking school once she graduates from high school and eventually takes over from Renata.
“Someone missed dinner,” Liam scolds me.
I blush. “Completely lost track of time,” I sigh. “Why didn’t you link me?”
“I thought you would need these hours of peace,” he points out. “It’s just a few days. I think we’ll all survive without you cheering us up during every dinner.” He pauses. “Though frankly, my dashing smile doesn’t quite work as well on our pack members as yours does.”
I giggle at his frivolous comment. I can only imagine how he was trying to smile brightly at the pack. Everyone was probably terrified they did something wrong. Ha!
He smiles smugly, happy he made me smile. When he bends forward to kiss my neck, I can’t help but groan. “I need to study,” I point out desperately.
