“You promise?” Ella asks.
“Yes, now go to bed, you freaks!” I grin.
I can’t even be mad at them, I realize. They genuinely care about me.
When I am finally ready to go to bed, I decide to give it a try. I need to convince myself it’s true, and… well… It’s still hard to believe I found my mate. I am so boring and bland…I thought maybe I would never find him.
Lord Liam, are you there?
I thought we already established the no-Lord rule? His voice sounds amused, teasing even.Or do I need to come over and teach you-
I might consider your offer next time we meet.I hear myself say, and immediately my cheeks flush with warmth. Fuck, Leah! I know she is just amplifying my feelings and thoughts, still… allowing my walls to crumble so fast makes me feel even more insecure.I mean, I wanted to say good night. Good night!
That black dress you wore today, we very much like it.Liam’s voice is huskier than when he usually talks. It’s probably the same with me. It’s his wolf mingling with his mind.
Who am I talking to? Liam, or is it your wolf?
Both.He explains.Fenris is incredibly happy he found his destined mate.
So is Leah.He is probably more in touch with his wolf than I am, so it doesn’t bother him too much. I smile slightly. We are looking forward to meeting you, Fenris.
There is silence for a short moment before…You are teasing us again, my mate. His voice is even deeper now.Say it again, and we’ll be there!
Good night!I blurt out.
A chuckle echoes in my mind, but it’s soft and warm.Sleep well.
*LIAM*
Our father has always trained me harder than my siblings. Not because he sees me as lesser than them or dislikes me. It’s rather the opposite. As the firstborn child of an Alpha Lycan, I am gifted with more powers than others. My powers are more distinguished, and my wolf is bigger. It comes with a lot of advantages. I can move faster; I am stronger; my instincts are much rawer; I have more gifts. But it also means my wolf is so much harder to control.
I can’t allow it to happen. To lose control. That’s what my father taught me when I was just a child.
He showed me how to control my beast. How to make sure Fenris stays in line. I might not always have liked the hard training growing up, but I am so thankful for his guidance now. There have been times I hated him for being so strict. But without him, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
When I set sight onhertoday, I knew I would have just grabbed her and claimed her in the most brutal way ever had I not been taught to keep Fenris in check. I am beyond relieved I didn’t hurt her or scare her.
It started as a battle first, in my teenage years. Nights of dark turmoil and panic and anger, and my father’s wolf beside me to make sure I wouldn’t lose myself on the way. Why is it me? I never asked to be the firstborn. I would have been happy to be the second or the third. I don’t care. I don’t need any special gifts. I didn’t ask for the burden and the responsibility. But while I believe we can fight fate if we want to… this is something I don’t have any power over.
I finally accepted Fenris as part of me, and we started to fight side by side instead of against each other. From then on, things started to get easier.
The hard work was worth it because tonight, I got rewarded with the most precious gift possible. With the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. And it was directed at me.
She lights up the room she walks into, her smile radiating, her laughter intoxicating. And she is just surrounded by the most breath-taking scent I have ever encountered.
You should have claimed her.Fenris pouts. We waited so long for our mate!
She would have hated us had we claimed her.I understand Fenris’ more primal instincts, but he has to understand mine too.You don’t want to hurt her, do you?
WHAT!? I would never hurt mate.
Annalise.I remind him.She has a name.
Prettiest name ever,Fenris grunts happily.Prettiest mate. Sweet little feisty Omega. I can’t wait to have her writhing beneath us.
A smirk curls around my lips. You liked her attitude.
You did too,he argues.
