“I will,” Cedric says evenly. I know it must hurt his pride that a member of his pack acted out like this and that he has to bow to another Alpha like that. But he doesn't let it show, and I’m glad he agreed to Liam's and Elden's conditions. As for Celine… I never had any doubts about her. I knew she would be ready to help anytime. She makes a fabulous leader.
Celine looks at Lauren coldly. “You will face our court just like any other wolves who break our laws as you did.”
“No, Celine,” Lauren yells after her. “Don’t go!”
Celine nods towards Harmony. “Take her with us.”
“It’s my pleasure,” Harmony hisses. She turns to squeeze my hand, and I nod at her with a smile.
“I will go and tell your parents, Annie,” Celine says. “They need to know what happened.”
“No,” Cedric intervenes. “You don’t need to do that. You have proven yourself worthy over and over again. You have handled this situation better than I did. Facing Brian and Rosalee is on me now.”
Celine looks surprised at his praise but then flushes slightly in happiness and nods. It’s very rare to see her like this, and it makes me so happy for her. She deserves acknowledgement for her hard work.
Goddess, it’s over. I can’t believe it. I’m so relieved when everyone left, and now it’s only Liam, Elden and Dante, waiting for me to be ready to go with them. I clasp Liam’s arm; I feel so tired. All the stress and the anxiety finally let go, and my whole system seems to shut down.
“Annalise?” he asks, his eyes widening. “Damn it, is that blood?”
I see the world fading around me. Liam’s arms keep me upright for a moment before he picks me up, holding me against his chest. I can hear Elden hurrying closer. “She lost a lot of blood. Let’s get her to the infirmary, fast.”
Chapter thirty-four
Chapter 34 Healing
*LIAM*
Iruntowardsourpack hospital as fast as my feet carry me, thanking the Moon Goddess repeatedly for my Beta Dante and how he is always prepared for all eventualities. He was the one who suggested taking the jeep along too. I broke all speed limits driving back here.
I curse myself for not noticing earlier that Annie was injured so badly, but the whole place smelled of her and her blood, and I thought it was from her bleeding nose after being punched.
I already linked the pack doctor. He is expecting us at the entrance of the infirmary. “Here,” he points towards a bed with wheels. “Lay her down here, Alpha Liam.”
The man looks tired. He and his team worked hours and hours to save my sister, and Nox. When this is all over, I will make sure to reward everyone for their efforts. “Please,” I beg. “Fix her.”
“I might need to perform surgery on her,” he states calmly, yet there is a hint of worry in his voice. “Allow me to take her with me.”
I’m hardly able to fight back my possessiveness and worry. I just got her back and am supposed to let her go again?
“Liam,” my mother’s voice comes from the side. “Let him do his work. Look at Annie. Listen to how her heart beats. She is in far better condition than Aryanna was when you found her, and Aryanna is already recovering now. Annie will be alright; she is a little fighter. Allow the doctor to help her.”
“She lost a lot of blood, but she seems stable,” the doctor agrees, sounding relieved at my mother's intervention. “The fact that wolfsbane doesn’t work on her definitely helps. Don’t be too worried, Alpha Liam.”
I rub my head in exhaustion. Goddess, that was close. So close. I nod my head, allowing him to take Annalise with him. I know I could force him to allow me to come with him, but I assume the last thing he wants is an overprotective scary Alpha next to him who growls every time he touches his mate.
I let out a shaky breath. I’m such a mess right now.
“How are the others doing?” I ask my mother to distract myself from my worry. I know I will only feel all right again when I hold a recovered Annalise in my arms.
“Aryanna is recovering well. Though she is in an awfully bad mood,” my mother smiles warmly. “I think she wants to hit someone.”
I can’t help but smile. “She can do so. We imprisoned a few wolves.” I pause, feeling worried again. “And Aurelia?”
“She is doing better now. They got her pretty bad, but she will heal. The wolfsbane left her body already thanks to Claire’s antidote.” My mother smiles brightly. “She really went out of her way to help Annie. She was very brave. I’m so proud.”
“Me too,” I agree wholeheartedly. “I will talk to her later. She needs to know how well she did.” I pause, dreading the next question. “What about Nox?”
“Goddess, we almost lost him. Did Dante tell you they had to revive him? He collapsed another time. Fortunately, Claire was there. I honestly think he wouldn’t have made it without her antidote. They're keeping Nox in the ICU to watch him.”
