Yeah, me too.Liam looks at me.I have linked my father already. He isn’t too happy either. I will try to gather more information. When we know where they keep the prisoners, it will be easier to free everyone and have the wolves of Red Claw break free.
I nod tentatively. That would be the best option.I frown.Just how do you want to achieve that so fast?
I’m thinking about joining Alpha Philipp’s patrol today. He needs help anyway.
Alpha Philipp offered to take some of his warriors and spy on the borders of Red Claw. As he shares a border with Red Claw, it’s not going to be too suspicious to see some of his men around their pack area. The others discuss who will help him. Getting intel about how their borders are protected is not to be dismissed easily, after all.
“I will send a few of my warriors,” Jace promises. “The rest will prepare for the attack.”
Some others agree to do the same.
“I will come with you,” Liam speaks up. He is back to being controlled and stoic again. He is always very controlled when talking to other Alphas, which gives him an air of dignity and strength. My heart swells with pride, both because of how he presents himself and because he can show me an entirely different side to him when we are alone.
Elden nods his agreement. “We talked this through. Liam will join Alpha Philipp. One of his Betas and some of our warriors will be there too.” He pauses. “That’s enough people though, or we might endanger the mission by putting too much attention on us.”
“We will leave immediately after the meeting,” Liam says. “Once it’s dark, we will start spying on the pack border.”
I feel worried about Liam instantly. I know he is strong and all, but I also know that this will not be an easy mission. I try to will my own feelings down… Liam is going to be an Alpha at one point. He has to act according to it. I know that… but it’s still hard to wrap my mind around it sometimes.
I know I have to learn to show more confidence in myself and in us. I’m still feeling nervous, though…I can’t put my finger on it yet, but something just feels off.

Chapter 45 The trap
*LIAM*
Afterthemeetingdissolves, everyone gets down to business. Some Alphas drive back to their packs immediately to prepare for the attack, and others stick around to talk and plan future alliances. I take Annalise’s hand, kissing it softly before leading her towards my father and Jace. Jace is a good friend of our family, a fellow Lycan and a strong ally, and he was always really kind to my siblings and me. He is more like an uncle to me than a fellow Alpha. I’m happy he already seems to like my mate, and I want her to get acquainted with him too.
His head perks up when we approach them. “Look who is coming!” he beams.
My father nods at me and smiles at Annalise. “You did really well today.” He pauses. “Both of you,” he adds shortly. Praise from him is rare, so I’m a bit surprised.
Jace looks at my mate with interest. “Annalise was it, right?”
“It’s nice to meet you officially,” Annalise says with a bright smile. It amazes me how much confidence and grace she radiates. It’s like she was born for this. Not everyone can carry themselves during such a meeting the way she did. Even some Alphas themselves can be unsure about meeting so many fellow Alphas. But she is a natural.
Jace returns her smile and shakes her hand. “It was a pleasure,” he grins. “The best one I had in a month.”
Annalise’s eyes widen before she grins. My father beats me to it by glaring at him. “Try to behave like an actual adult, will you? At least for five minutes?”
Jace turns to look at Annalise again. “This is sensitive information,” he points out with a smirk. “Don’t tell anyone.”
“What?” Dad raises his brows. “That you are a dork?”
“Exactly,” Jace grins. “But you are one to talk! Like… remember that summer vacation when we were teens and secretly held that party while your parents were on a trip? We almost burned the packhouse down. And then your parents came back early, and your mother retreated to the bedroom, claiming she was suffering from a migraine. Your father was furious when he saw that we ruined the toilet but gave up eventually.”
“Yeah, it was fun,” Dad chuckles. “At least the party was fun. The day after… however, not so much.”
Jace laughs. “Flora was there too, and she scared some fellow girls with her horror stories. She pretended her stories were real.”
“They probably were,” my father points out.
Jace groans. “Why does that not surprise me?”
“She was awesome, even back then,” Dad smiles warmly as he thinks about Mom.
“That’s a fascinating story,” I tease. “Weird, I have never heard of it. I think I should tell Felix and Dario about it.”
