Page 227 of An Omega for the Lycan Prince
“But it’s not because of you,” Dave asks carefully. “You want him?”
She nods before looking at us once more. I can see her hands shivering slightly with suppressed emotions. Oh shit. “Please, another day, okay?” she pleads.
Finn frowns at her words before gazing at me briefly. I can see it too. Celine looks sad, angry and hurt. What happened between her and her mate? Finn and I both hold Silverlake’s and Red Claw’s members in high regard. A look at Finn tells me it doesn’t sit right with him that one of our guests was disrespectful towards Celine.
It doesn’t sit right with me either.
We exchange another look.
Finn gladly decides to put the joke on himself for now. “I feel like the leftover piece of a cake,” he sighs dramatically. “All of you are finding your better halves. And who gets left out?”
Harmony rolls her eyes. “Look at me. All single, plus I am not giving up my position as Alpha Celine’s Beta, so whoever I might be fated to has to move with me.”
“What if it’s an Alpha?” Celine asks, smiling a bit all of a sudden.
“Harmony is not Luna material,” Finn muses. “She is more Alpha material herself. I doubt the Moon Goddess mated her to someone to become Luna. I’d rather see her with an elite warrior.”
Harmony chuckles. “Hopefully.”
“You guys are not the only ones,” Dave grins. He points at himself. “Forever single.”
“I think your situation might change soon,” I say with a smile, gesturing towards Jun.
“Oh, come on,” Dave flushes. “I know I am pleasing to the eyes-”
Finn snorts while Ella just rolls her eyes.
“But he is out of my league. Those sharp cheekbones, the dark eyes. And he is so freaking tall. He looks like a hot prince of K-Pop.”
“He is half Japanese,” I say dryly.
“Prince of J-Pop then,” Dave says unfazed.
“I don’t know about that,” Steve shrugs. “But he is staring. And considering some of the hottest girls are with us right now, I think it says he is looking at you.”
“Yeah, two of these hottest girls are mated to some scary dudes though,” Dave says dryly. “Who wants to take it up with Liam and his Dante?”
Finn looks at him, amused. “If you say it like that, it sounds weird.”
“Come on, Dave,” Ella and I cheer him on. “Since when are you so shy?”
Celine nods. “Give it a shot. It’s a wedding today. People are ready to flirt.”
“Okay, okay,” he stands up with a dramatic sigh, grabbing two empty glasses and a bottle of wine before approaching Jun. Dante and Aryanna, chatting with him, exchange a glance before excusing themselves and coming over to us.
“Finally,” Ari mutters. “Jun is so into him.”
“He is already eighteen, though,” Harmony says, sounding a bit worried. “If Dave isn’t his mate, it might hurt them both.”
I nod tentatively. “That’s the reason I didn’t encourage anything earlier. But then… you never know what the Moon Goddess has planned for Jun.”
“Maybe her plan even includes Dave. Let the boys have some fun. It doesn’t always need to end in love. Jun has pushed his sexuality down because of Marcus’ regime of terror; and now, he strives for acceptance. And Dave can give him what he needs,” Dante points out, resting his hand on Ella’s knee.
I am suddenly overcome with feelings of love for my own mate as well, jumping up to my feet and hurrying towards him. “Excuse me,” I smile at Elden and the rest of his family. “I need to steal your son away from you for a moment.”
“It can be a long moment, too,” Flora beams. “Especially when there are grandchildren-making involved!”
“Goodness, Mom,” Aurelia sighs, looking slightly pained.
