Page 166 of An Omega for the Lycan Prince
Instead of tugging his other hand free, he shifts, breaking out of all his restraints. The door to his cell is ripped open like it’s nothing. I realized immediately that I have never seen Liam fight. He rips through the guards like they are just mere puppets. None of them can land a blow on him or attack him. They face no chance.
I slowly begin to understand what Liam and Elden always talk about when they mention the difficulty in controlling Liam’s wolf.
I have never seen a wolf so… strong.
“I can’t believe you came here,” Fenris growls.
I wrap my arms around him, burying my face in his beautiful thick fur.
How… How did you do that?Liam’s warm voice reaches my mind.
I don’t know… I just knew I could do it. So, I tried until I could reach you.
You saved me, my love,Fenris raises his head, his eyes searching for mine. They are both looking at me now, my strong Lycan wolf and my wonderful mate. And this means you will also save many others today.
I want to cling to Liam now and cry and sob, so relieved to have him back. I want to make sure he wasn’t hurt too badly. I want to hug him and never let go again. I take a few shaky breaths and force all these complicated feelings to the back of my mind, the whole turmoil inside me. I can’t break down yet. There is still a battle to fight.
Out of the corner of my eyes I can see some movement behind Liam. I blink in surprise when I spot Elden, not aware he has been hiding and watching us. Relief fills me as I realize he stayed to help in case things would go south. He smiles at me and puts his index finger on his lips, then he disappears into the night.
Chapter forty-nine
Chapter 49 Liam’s full potential
*ANNALISE*
I’mabouttogetrid of my clothes and shift when Liam turns his attention back to me. His wolf has the same intense eye color as he has, searing through the darkness. “Don’t shift.”
I pause. “You don’t want me to bring my wolf forward?” I ask in surprise. “I’m stronger and faster in Leah’s form.”
Fenris moves around us. “We need you to be fully here, to stop us when needed, and remain in control. My beloved Leah, as a wolf, will submit to me. You won’t.”
All right, I trust him. I put my jacket back on and my backpack. “What now?”
Fenris lowers himself to the ground. “Get up.”
This feels a bit weird. A wolf is not a horse, we don’t ride on them, but Fenris is huge, with a broad back. When I crawl up on his back, I’m surprised at how high off the ground I am.
“Hold on tight.”
I nod, grabbing onto his fur tightly, already guessing what he is up to. My crazy Lycan jumps out of the fifth-floor window, easily landing on his paws. I tense up to keep the squeal concealed behind my lips. This feels worse than riding a rollercoaster. At first, all I can do is cling to him and desperately try to make sure I don’t fall off; however, I learn to balance myself better after a few seconds. And Fenris is smooth in his movements. Fast and strong, but elegant. He takes down the guards surrounding the prison before entering again through the front door. No matter who comes in his way, he simply sends them flying. I can hear bones being broken.
It’s only when he halts in front of a few cells that I realize he took us to the basement to free Aryanna and the others.
“Liam, Annie!” Aryanna blurts out. “They just injected us with wolfsbane again.”
“Don’t worry,” I open my backpack. Fenris scoots a bit closer so that I can hand her a little bag through the bars. “That’s Claire’s antidote.”
Ari narrows her eyes. “Give us a minute.”
“I need you to clean this place, free our warriors and Philipp's men - they are innocent,” Fenris… or Liam growls… “Take down everyone in your way, and make sure to find all the imprisoned Red Claw members. Then lead them to the top of the cliff – you can see the whole fight from there. Their mates and family should know they are free. It’s the only reason they are fighting.”
Aryanna nods. “Ten minutes,” she says. “Won’t take us more.”
“You don’t have more,” he growls.
She nods, bowing her head. “I won’t disappoint you, Alpha.”
Fenris nods. “I will clean out the area around us, so you can pass freely. Hurry!”
