She blushes a bit at my words. “The fight made me realize I need to improve my human form training, though,” she says in a serious tone.
Liam frowns. “How about you try to get well again first before talking about training?”
She rolls her eyes. “There is no trace of wolfsbane in my body anymore. I'm only healing slower because I'm too young, and my beast isn't at her fullest strength yet. But we are both very motivated, and I’m going to be fine again soon! My body is itching to go back to training.”
Nox is in the room next to hers. When we arrive there, he is surprised to see us. It’s almost cute. He tells me repeatedly that I don’t need to thank him. But I know he almost died protecting me. His general state is worse than Aurelia’s right now. I will never forget the sound their weapon made when they shot at him, and he dropped to the ground.
“You know, Nox,” Liam says earnestly. “My father is really proud of you.”
He rubs his head. It seems like any praise makes him feel uncomfortable. “He told me that too. But I only protected the pack and our future Luna! I didn’t do much…”
“You did a lot,” Liam urges. “You nearly gave your life to protect my mate.”
Later that evening, Liam has a huge TV brought to my hospital room. He raises his eyebrows. “You know what this means?”
“Goodness, I have to watch a movie with you?” I grin.
“Your choice,” Liam promises. “I won’t complain.”
I look at him skeptically, remembering the last time we watched a movie together. “You know I can’t blow you this time, right?” I deadpan.
He chuckles. “I’m here to cuddle with my mate, spend time with her and make sure she rests properly.”
“No complaints?”
“I promise.”
I sit up a bit in my bed, having Liam skim through the several streaming sites. A few months ago, we watched the action flick, which was a disaster, and Jurassic Park wasn’t much to his liking either. I skip over similar titles and also discard the ones I think he will definitely never want to watch.
“I think I saw that one,” he muses when we scroll past one of Dave’s favorite movies.
I stare at him. “You watched ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’?”
“Yes, Aryanna wanted to see it. I watched it with her and Dante,” he shrugs. “Dante got drunk while watching it. It was a fun movie.”
My eyes widen. “You watched a movie about Abba and Drag Queens and liked it?” I’m actually a bit impressed. This man is full of surprises. So maybe next time I will look for something a bit on the weird side. For today though, I have no strength for anything difficult, so I choose a romantic movie. “Love, Actually,” I say. “We’ll watch that one.” I normally loathe romance movies, but I like this one.
Liam carefully settles next to me, pulling me into his arms as much as the hospital bed allows, and starts the movie. He stays true to his word and doesn’t complain a single time. Actually, I’m shocked! His hand rubs my shoulder softly, but other than that, he watches the movie intently.
Once the movie is finished, he nods. “I liked that one.”
“What!?” I exclaim.
“Didn’t have any unnecessary shootings, drama or special effects,” he says simply. “We can watch something like this more often.”
I stare at him in disbelief. My dude likes romance movies? My huge, muscular, stoic Alpha likes romances!
Fenris is very romantic too,Leah chimes in.The last time we went for a run, he picked a flower for me. Isn’t that cute? Said my eyes remind him of the stars in the sky!
Okay, seems like Fenris is – shockingly – a lot cheesier than Liam. Still a surprise that my mate likes these kinds of movies, but it’s cute too. “Finally, I found something you like,” I chuckle.
He kisses the top of my head.
We snuggle for a bit longer before I can feel myself drift to sleep. “Say,” I mutter. “When will Ella move here?”
“Tomorrow,” Liam says softly. “I sent guards with her, don’t worry. She will be here tomorrow, and we’ll make sure she is safe.”
I nod contentedly, allowing myself to drift to sleep. I’m feeling so much better already, so hopefully I’ll be released soon.
