Story: Scarred Assassin
I opened the door and he trailed his eyes on me. “Still wrapped in a blanket? What were you doing?”
“You need to leave,” I said suddenly and he frowned.
“I told you, I don’t want to.”
“Well, do you want to live here?”
“Yes. I can sleep on the couch if you don’t want me on the bed.”
“You don’t understand,” I sighed out, slumping my shoulders. I was honestly tired of him and I wished I never let him in.
“But I do, my love,” he argued. “I understand what you want. You want to kill my family and me, I understand that. But in the meantime, let me live for you, please.” I opened my mouth to argue, but he cupped my face.
“Two weeks, let me love you for two weeks.” I tried to shake my head in protest, but he held it in place. “Okay, two days. Damnit two hours, let me love you for two hours.”
My stomach grumbled. I pushed his hands from my face and walked past him, ignoring his calls. I got to the kitchen and I almost swallowed the plate in front of me. He made avocado toasts and drew smiley faces on them with fruits and honey.
My ego shouldn’t let me eat the food made by him, but I was so hungry and he didn’t help the situation by making my favorite. He knew how much I loved avocado toasts, and how I would never be able to reject it.
I looked at the toasts again and it reminded me of Kendal. He always loved making them for me since he learned how to make them on the internet. God, I missed both he and Ariana so much.
I took the first bite of the toast and sighed in pleasure. It tasted really nice and I just wanted to stuff my face into the food.
I heard footsteps, but I didn’t bother to turn, I already knew it was my unwelcome guest. I ate more as I thought of what to do. Taking a sip of the coffee Jayden made for me, I choked on it as I remembered something very important.
Jayden ran to me and rubbed on my back like a stupid doctor, but I shook my body with a scowl to get his hands off me.
“Are you okay?” He asked, his face showing how worried he was. I ignored him.
I had completely forgotten to send evidence of Mrs Grey’s involvement in the shipment of the Sudan girls. I entered my room, grabbed my phone and searched through the files, sending the ones that belonged to Mrs Grey to the internet.
As usual, everyone would read the article and watch the videos, then other evidence would pop up elsewhere.
They always needed me to lead, cowards. Then if I get arrested someday, they would sign petitions to have me killed, hypocrites.
My phone rang and I checked the caller. Chan? I hoped he was okay.
“Hello,” he shouted after I picked the call and I removed the phone from my ear.
“You shouted, you asshole.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that.”
I sighed in relief and sat on the bed. I was already worried that something had happened to him, he gave me a huge jumpscare with his stupid loud voice. “What’s wrong?”
“I was just about to go to bed when I had this idea that I thought of sharing it with you. I have a feeling it’s something you might like.”
I was curious to know what the idea that I might like was, but I also had to tell him about Jayden, if he would give me some ideas to send him out. “First I have something to tell you.”
“Oh. Um, what is it?” I could picture him sitting up to hear the full gist, he was such a gossip.
“Jayden is here. He stayed overnight and now he’s refusing to leave. How do I get him the fuck out?” I whispered the last sentence in anger.
“You let him in?”
“I mean he let himself in, but that’s not the point. The point is, he’s being sappy and sentimental, and you know I hate that shit. He’s trying to make me forgive him for what happened.”
“And you don’t wanna?”
“You need to leave,” I said suddenly and he frowned.
“I told you, I don’t want to.”
