Story: Scarred Assassin
“I was never angry with you. In fact, I feel sorry for you.” She looked at me and cupped my face. “I’m so sorry this had to happen to you, you had no fault in all of this. I’m sure Flower would be grateful too.” She called her by my nickname and smiled at me, but I kept my head bowed.
“Please take her to the hospital, Aunty Laura, she can’t die,” I begged. “And please give her this.” I pointed the letter I had written earlier to her.
She smiled. “She won’t die. My daughter is strong. And yes, I will give her your letter. Bye Jayden, bye Raphael.”
“Thank you boys.” Uncle Chris’ voice wrapped around us, but we ignored him. His smile fell when he noticed. He carried Jordan on his back and helped Aunty Laura to walk.
“Be careful with her arm and take her to the hospital now,” I subconsciously commanded him and he nodded. Raphael and I snuck our way back into the house to take our own sedatives.
PRESENT
“I met Larissa.” John brought me out of my thoughts. “Why are you doing this to her?”
“I’m not doing anything to her. We had a deal and it’s done. I don’t even know why you are having this conversation with me. She is an escort, she satisfies me and I pay her. So what? Is it my fault she caught feelings?”
“You are being unfair. She is the only one who agreed to be with your weird crazy ass and you are just going to treat her like this?”
“John please, you have no idea what’s running through my head.”
“She might be an escort, but I think she’s ready to stop because she is in love with you, and you like her too. Didn’t you get mad at her for sleeping with someone else the other day?”
“Yes I did, because I didn’t want her to infect me. Her job was for six months and for that six months, she’s supposed to satisfy only me. She was fucking around with dirty men who might not be clean.” I groaned. “Her contract was duelongago, but she won’t stop calling me. Who the fuck did you introduce me to?”
“I just wanted to help you. I felt you needed a good fuck then and I assigned her to you.”
“Well now tell her it’s time for her to leave me the fuck alone.”
“Alright alright, I will. Chase every girl away from you. All I know is I won’t date you because I’m straight as a pencil.” I rolled my eyes at his stupidity.
“Anyway, what about that girl? I mean Jordan Vincenzo. Now that you found her, what’s next?”
DidIknow the next step? No, I didn’t. Now that everything was as clear as a day, I couldn’t help but feel confused. I still felt like we found her too soon, or maybe it was just my nervousness talking.
“You said you know everything about her, right?” He asked suddenly and I shrugged.
“I used to. I haven’t seen her in ten years, remember?” He nodded, his eyes serious as if in deep thought. “Why?”
“There’s something about her that makes me curious and I want to know, otherwise, I might not die peacefully.” I stared blankly at him.
“What is it?”
“Since I’ve been trailing her, there’s always been a bandage on her arm, left arm to be precise. If she has no bandage today, she’ll definitely have one tomorrow. Is it like a trend or a fashion statement for her?” My eyes widened in shock.
Wait.
Wait a damn minute. Why hadn’t I noticed that the vixen from the other night had a bandage on her arm, the exact same place as Jordan. And now if John was right that the Vixen was her, which he was, then why was her arm still bandaged?
It’d been ten years.
What was going on, Jordan? I couldn’t find you for four years, but I wondered if you’d been here with me all along, and why was the injury I gave you still as fresh as that awful day?
I rubbed my hair in frustration as I racked my brains.
She flinched when I accidentally touched her there, she did. Which meant it still hurt her, but how was it possible?
“Mind sharing? You’re starting to annoy me.” His stupid voice brought me out of my trance.
“You don’t understand, John, this… this girl can’t be my girl. She… she looks…”
“Please take her to the hospital, Aunty Laura, she can’t die,” I begged. “And please give her this.” I pointed the letter I had written earlier to her.
