Story: Scarred Assassin
“Dark?” He raised his eyebrows at me and I gave a single nod. “Listen, I don’t know what happened, but I believe that this is who you are looking for.”
“But I don’t understand, how did you find her now if you didn’t find her before?”
“Are we really doing this?” He rolled his head and I groaned angrily, hitting my hand on the table.
“Listen to me, John, this might seem funny to you, but this is something I have had to battle with all my life. You don’t know what this girl means to me, so just borrow a piece of humanity and explain what I need to know.”
He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I’m sorry. Well she’s using a different name and that was why I hadn’t been able to find her on the internet with the name you gave me.”
Of course, a different name. I sighed a laugh as I ran my fingers through my hair. It was all making sense. I had tried to search for her on the internet too. To find any bank statements or properties or something in her name, but I couldn’t, because she had a whole new identity. But why?
Who was Jordan Vincenzo now?
“So what name is she using now? And how did you find her?” I asked John
“This is supposed to be confidential, I don’t tell how I got my job done.”
“What the fuck are you even saying? I gave you the job.” I scowled at him and he glared, daring me to shout at him the way I did earlier.
“I looked up her mother’s name. Her mother has a new name too, but some information was found in her old name. I traced that information and I got to know her mother.” He explained
“I trailed her mother for… I think a year? Then one day, Jordan met her mother. I think by accident because she didn’t look too happy to see her and I started tailing her too. After I confirmed that she was yours, I called.”
Okay, it made sense. That was smart, that was very smart. I guessed that was why he was highly paid.
“There’s something though.”
“What is the ‘something’?” I asked with my heart in my mouth. I didn’t want any more bad news, I was meeting her soon.
“According to her profile, she had two therapists in the past. Both are dead now.” He said, looking at me and I squinted my eyes at him. ‘If I get caught, I’ll die.’
“Are you trying to say something, John?” I asked in a barely audible voice.
“The two therapists raped her during her sessions with them and she killed them.” I clenched and unclenched my hand a few times. Someone raped heragain? And she killed them? Jordan killed?
“She killed people?” He nodded at my question and I gaped. It didn’t make sense.
“What are you even saying?” I forced out.
“I’m serious. And she wasn’t even in Canada before so I believe she is back here for a reason.”
A reason? Was I the reason? Or did this ‘reason’ have anything to do with what happened ten years ago?
“Austin Frank and Dan West. She murdered them, Jayden, I know what I’m talking about. She murdered Frank first, then she got a new therapist who happened to rape her again and she killed him too. But…” he stopped and I blinked.
“There’s a but? I’m ready to hear it all.” I straightened and he chuckled. I didn’t know how it was funny to him.
“Mr Dan had two kids. I did research on them and found out that they are currently with her and she takes care of them. Kendal West and Ariana West, fourteen and twelve.”
She might have taken the kids in, but she still wronged them. Oh God, I didn’t know who this person John was talking about was. I was so lost and I just wanted to see her and let her explain everything to me.
“She…” I started, but he lifted a finger up for me to stop.
“That is not the worst part.” I frowned, there was a worst part? “The worst part is that, at Mr Frank and Mr Dan’s murder scene, there was a note.”
“A note? What note? This is all confusing for me, just say whatever it is you want me to know. What was on the note?”
“I am Alex,” he said and I stumbled.
“But I don’t understand, how did you find her now if you didn’t find her before?”
