Story: Scarred Assassin
“Gideon is right. Now that we know you wish to go in as a stripper, we need to get it possible before that day. We need to find the person you’ll be replacing and get all the other information we might need.”
“Alright, alright. All I know is that I want his corpse to be found soon, so I can move to the next person,” I said and they both nodded before registering my words and snapping back at me.
“Next person? There’s more?”
“Yeah, why? Are you scared? Isn’t that what you do for a living?”
“We are just asking,” Yusuf said, smiling. He never got mad at me no matter what I did and it sometimes bothered me.
Gideon cleared his throat. “Anything else?”
I turned to answer Gideon, but I immediately returned my gaze to its former position when I saw the British guy from the elevator enter, holding hands with a lady.
His eyes scanned the room before locking with mine. We shared eye contact for about three seconds before he averted his eyes and smiled at the lady beside him.
Could this guy really know me? Or worse, was he after me for something? I smiled inwardly, he really wanted to die.
I watched as he sat the lady down and called for the waitress. “Nothing else. But if there is a change in plans, let me know. Think it through, it’s not as easy as said, he must die.” Yusuf and Gideon nodded at me and I got up.
No, I was not going after the weird guy. If he was truly trailing or spying on me, then I didn’t have to go after him since he’d be the one to come to me.
I left for Ari and Ken’s new school with a small smirk on my face.

“I’m still here, Mr Rey, and I still can’t see you,” I said into the phone, trying to hide my irritation as I searched around.
I had arrived ten minutes ago, but he kept telling silly lies that he wasalmostwhere I was. I heard another ‘I’m so close to you’ and turned my neck to look at the parking lot, swearing that I’d hurt him if he was lying this time and that was when I saw him, a man in his forties waving and smiling at me. With a poker face, I walked over to him.
“I am Mr Rey. It’s nice to officially meet you, Ms Alexis.”
“Where is the Principal?” I asked, totally ignoring him and his greetings. His smile fell a little before he stamped it back on his face.
“Let’s go over to her office. I’m sure the kids will like the school. The rooms are clean and you can even employ a personal assistant for them. The school allows it.” I stopped in my steps and turned to him with a smile on my face.
“Really? A bodyguard?”
“No, not a bodyguard. Like a school parent, to look after their feeding and the cleaning of their rooms, clothes and other basic necessities. The good part is that you can even have them report back to you.”
“Alright thanks, I’ll see about that,” I muttered as he entered the principal’s office with me following behind.
“Ma’am, this is Ms Alexis. She’s the one I told you about,” he announced and the older woman smiled at me, gesturing at the seat for me to take.
I sat down. “Kendal and Ariana. Ariana is in seventh grade. Kendal used to be homeschooled, but you can assess him and put him in any class he’s worth.”
She typed on her computer. “Which of them is going to the special section?”
“Kendal.”
“Alright Ms, you’ve paid all the expenses and we are happy to welcome your… kids to the school.” She looked at me skeptically, her eyebrows visibly creasing. “Are they your kids?”
“And you want to know because?” I raised an eyebrow at her and she cleared her throat.
“Will you be employing a school parent for them?” She changed the topic. At least she was smart.
“Yes.”
“The school can recommend some trustworthy one,” she suggested and I scoffed. Trustworthy indeed.
