"Alright, it says here that the mysterious black wolf is a myth, but legend has it that when two Alpha wolves mate with either of them having special powers, the mysterious black wolf can be formed."
Now everything was making sense to them. If Valerie still had her Luna wolf, then they would not have had this challenge.
Already, they knew what kind of wolf Denver was going to have when of age, but Alpha Denzel wanted to be sure of his suspicions to not put a round peg in a square hole.
"There should be more," Denzel said, his back leaned against the wall with Valerie leaning against him.
Their position was intimate, but their minds were far from that at the moment.
A lot of people would be glad and proud to have a powerful pup, but only a few knew about how much hard work goes into it. Nothing good comes easy. At least they learned that lesson very early in their lives.
Pups are supposed to be trained and molded into the kind of Alpha the pack expected, but no pup left on their own ever grew to be responsible.
They always turned out as vagabonds. Valerie was reading from the next paragraph, and Denzel listened intently.
"This has never happened before, so there is no record of anyone having it. However, it isn’t impossible either."
Denzel thought for a while and asked her, "So, what are the signs of any werewolf having the mysterious black wolf?"
Valerie flipped the pages and continued reading, amazed by the discoveries herself.
"Mysterious black wolves are just as the name sounds. Mysterious. The secret is, they are super powerful and strong but also very shy. Their level of shyness causes them to do things in secret, but when angered, they tend to reveal themselves before regretting it."
Alpha Denzel thought deeply. Was Denver hiding his abilities because he was shy? The boy never looked like he was afraid of anything, let alone being shy, but he was pulled out of his thoughts when Valerie continued with her reading.
"The mysterious black wolf is a great lover and is very sensitive. They don’t fall in love easily, but when they do, it’s for eternity. It’s also said that they can sense a pup even in the womb, growing a profound attachment to it if they feel a connection."
Everything was now cleared up, and they could understand Denver’s behavior. He was indeed a mysterious black wolf.
"Is that why he’s so close to Alice now? Is he in love with her?" Valerie asked thoughtfully but remembered that Denver loved Raven as much before.
The only exception was the way he did not want to leave Alice’s side, and that only began last night.
If it were what they were thinking, then it should have begun earlier than this.
"I think it’s the pup she’s carrying. Denver must be sensing it and is already bonding with her from the womb," Denzel thought aloud, Valerie gasped from complicated emotions.
"Could that be his mate?" In his situation, it did not matter where he found his mate in the future because he was going to be an Alpha.
"Not necessarily, but keep reading," Alpha Denzel calmly said, Valerie obeyed.
"The mysterious black wolf can fall in love without the mate bond, and when he does, it becomes an obsession, and he would not allow anyone to take her from him, unless..."
Valerie paused, swallowing tightly at the last part, but Denzel was very curious, as he tried to read it for himself.
"Unless what?"
They ended up reading it together. "Unless the one whom he falls in love with rejects him for another."
They both went silent after reading that part, guessing what that could mean. "It seems to me that our son is going to have a tough love life," Valerie said aloud, remembering their own struggles from the beginning.
Denzel had to be mean to her, just to save her life, which brought a lot of conflicts between them.
"Let’s look at his strengths," Alpha Denzel said, and Valerie began to flip the pages again as there was so much information about this mysterious creature, whom they claimed does not exist.
Or, could it be a prediction about the life of the mysterious black wolf? Was that the reason why the ethereal realm did not want them together in the beginning?
"The mysterious black wolf is a discerner of thoughts, does not want to be seen when doing anything, good or bad.
He loves the dark and can see through it as if it were day.
When fully matured, it turns the bearer in his human form into being very cold and unapproachable, except for those he loves. "
"Does it say anything about his mate?" Denzel asked, wishing that Denver would have a destined mate and not be forced to choose anyone.
Valerie was saddened when she read that part. "Yes. But because of their immense strength and power, they are mated to weaker beings like the weakest of humans, but their love is capable of injecting strength into their mates to make them stronger than expected."
Denzel did not seem worried for his son at all. If it were him, he would not care for how weak his mate was, so that did not seem like a problem to him.
"That is his cross. I won’t worry my head over it, but I just hope that he won’t be a danger to the pack."
Valerie smiled. "I guess this would make you happy, but before I read it, I need a cup of ice cream."
Denzel frowned. "No way you are gonna do that to me. I will get you the ice cream, but complete that book."
He tried to snatch it from her, but she pushed it under her buttocks and sat on it.
"You think I can’t carry you? Don’t forget that even with pregnancy, you were as light as an egg," he chuckled, and Valerie laughed.
"It means I was quite heavy. If not, you would have mentioned a cotton or feather."
She removed the book and opened it. "I will read it, but you have to make a promise if you are not getting my ice cream for me..."
