"Alpha Ludwig, I wasn’t expecting you so early," Alpha Denzel said honestly, but Alpha Ludwig felt he owed Alpha Denzel for all the help he had received from him.
"Well, I didn’t want to get tired by the time I arrive here tomorrow, so I decided to set off early. For all you’ve done for my pack, I had to give my utmost support."
Alpha Denzel was pleased that Ludwig knew how to honor him.
"You are welcome. Burke, please usher him to one of the guest rooms," he instructed. Burke obeyed, beckoning the warriors in waiting to carry Alpha Ludwig’s luggage to the pack house, with Ludwig following him.
The next couple to arrive were Alpha Napoleon and Luna Cassy.
Alpha Denzel, not too happy that they came early, but since a letter was sent to them, he could not refuse.
Also, since they were among the people who talked down on Valerie during Troy and Adira’s coronation, it was good they were there to witness her shine.
He instructed Burke to usher them to their rooms before addressing the next couple.
"Alpha Bodie, Luna Latifa, you are welcome."
The two were equally received, but when Alpha Denzel saw the couple following them, his anger soared.
These people were coming with invitations, so there was no need for the warriors to alert Alpha Denzel of their presence.
"Luna Ahuma, and you are?" Alpha Denzel quickly blocked the entrance when he saw the man fitting the description of Ashley.
His timing was just right. A time when Alpha Denzel would not be able to call Ashley to perform an interrogation, but no evil person he set his eyes on would be able to escape from him.
Since this man wanted Valerie’s powers, he wouldn’t give up easily, so there was more time.
"Orion, the soon-to-be Alpha of the Lockheart pack," the man introduced himself with a cold smile.
Alpha Denzel took notice of the name as he added, "Luna Ahuma’s Alpha and mate were murdered in the human world, if you haven’t heard."
Alpha Denzel scoffed, as Luna Ahuma was the mate of the late Alpha Viggo, whom Valerie did justice to.
"Is that so?" Alpha Denzel pretended not to know, exuding a cold and unwelcoming aura, different from how he welcomed the others before now.
This man was the reason he had to do all this himself when Burke should have been the right person to handle it.
"Well, since you are not yet an Alpha, you are not welcome here. Go rent a hotel."
Alpha Denzel was not good at holding it in when the enemy was this close, but he still kept his composure, waiting for Ashley’s confirmation.
Not only Orion, but all his accomplices must face Alpha Denzel’s wrath.
"What if I’m the beta?" Orion asked daringly. He deemed himself more powerful than Alpha Denzel because he had a deal with the goddess of deception.
That was where he got his powers from.
"I know the beta, but who are you?" Alpha Denzel asked, belittling him intentionally to anger him. "Even an omega holds more value than you."
Orion was so furious that his pupils dilated, but Alpha Denzel maintained a cold glare on him as he asked.
"Alpha Denzel, are you insulting me?"
"What do you think? Do you have what it takes to accuse me?"
Alpha Denzel was so direct, Orion was very upset. His powers were not strong enough to work on an Alpha yet, so he had to rely on impersonating those of the lower ranks.
Sadly, Alpha Denzel was unexpectedly there, destroying his chances of taking the form of any of the pack members living in the pack house.
"I am soon to be the Alpha, and here is your invitation to attend my coronation."
He took the card from Luna Ahuma and gave it to Alpha Denzel, but the latter refused to accept it.
"I won’t attend, so I won’t accept it. Luna Ahuma is not even on good terms with my Luna, so I would not let you both in."
Luna Ahuma’s head lowered, not expecting Alpha Denzel to be so petty. After the disgrace she faced with her friends, he was still humiliating her.
"Please, Alpha Denzel, it’s late."
"I don’t care," Alpha Denzel retorted when he suddenly stepped back upon catching from the corner of his eyes, another unknown man trying to bypass him to Burke, but Alpha Denzel blocked his path.
"And you are?" He asked coldly. The man turned to the side to introduce the woman beside him, since he was not as bold as Orion.
Nevertheless, Alpha Denzel figured they were in cahoots with each other.
"This is Luna Bellatrix. Her Alpha was murdered, and I’m her second chance mate and soon-to-be Alpha. We received the invitation and arrived early."
A menacing glare from Alpha Denzel caused him to shiver. "Did her invitation include an accommodation arrangement?"
"Is there something like that?" The man asked with a confused expression, understanding that some invitations had accommodation arrangements attached, whereas others did not.
"Alpha, it’s all clear at the gate. I think the rest would be arriving tomorrow," Burke reported in a hushed tone behind Alpha Denzel.
"Good. Call Alpha Troy and Idris for me," Alpha Denzel said, not bothering to speak in a hushed tone.
"Denzel," Idris said when he arrived as Denzel instructed him.
"You and Alpha Troy should accompany these unwanted guests out of the pack. The warriors would help you."
Alpha Denzel did not want to move away from the pack house, lest another accomplice of theirs transforms himself and sneaks in.
"Alpha Denzel. This is embarrassing," Orion said with pain in his eyes, but Alpha Denzel did not hide the truth from him anymore.
"You should have left when I told you to, and oh, I am looking out for snakes, cats, mice, I mean, anything that is not a human or a wolf, would be killed as soon as it crosses this environment."
The three men, together with their warriors, froze as Alpha Denzel added. "You should thank your stars that I can’t shed blood before a coronation. You know what you did, and even if you hide under the earth, I will find you."
Now that they understood that Ashley had survived after her escape and informed Alpha Denzel, they could no longer play the self-righteous game.
But neither were they ready to give up. Rather, they would develop another strategy, but now, the shame was too much to bear.
They walked out of the pack, and Luna Bellatrix comforted them.
"We can still make it to the coronation tomorrow. I want to see what Luna Valerie would look like."
She could still not get over the way Valerie and Adira dealt with them at Adira’s coronation.
