It was the strangest thing Alpha Denzel had ever heard. Powers were permanent as long as one had them, so this was not making sense to him.

"What do you mean your powers aren’t working?"

"I’m serious. They aren’t," Valerie frustratedly said, feeling like she had offended someone but couldn’t figure out who.

Denzel’s mind raced, searching for solutions as cars passed them on the highway. "Do you remember the last time you used them?"

She had just used them about two days ago to his knowledge, so he couldn’t tell if she had used them during any of the training sessions after that.

"After using them to help Alice, I haven’t used them anymore," Valerie clarified. Alpha Denzel thought deeply and asked again.

"Can you communicate with your wolf?"

"Let me try."

’Astrid, how are you?’ Valerie asked her wolf, regretting neglecting her for a few days now. They used to communicate a lot, but now every pack member wanted a piece of Valerie, including Alpha Denzel.

A dull voice responded. ’Oh, so you remember me now?’

’What do you mean by that?’ Valerie asked, guilt welling up in her heart as she pretended not to know.

Astrid explained calmly. Valerie’s actions deserved a warning because her intentions were solid.

’You used too much power in the last few days, it made me weak, so I sleep at the least chance. You should be glad there hasn’t been a war. You would have been left on your own.’

Valerie was slightly confused at this moment, asking carefully. ’If I understand you correctly, I should not use my powers too much?’

’No. You should not use them for experimentation. Wonderful things can happen if you use them to save others, but not just for experimentation. That is a waste, so sorry. You have to go by car. I won’t be able to transport you.’

The meaning was clear to Valerie, and she did not push it further since they didn’t have an emergency.

A car could also be brought to them if only they asked, so this made perfect sense to her.

’I understand and thanks for telling me. I’m very sorry, but I was keen on helping Alice.’

’You can help her when there is a war, but don’t try to use the powers for experimentation,’ Astrid warned seriously.

Valerie felt no warning signs in her body but could have harmed Astrid in the process since she was the one who stole the powers from the lake.

It belonged to the moon goddess, alright, but since another goddess had stolen it, only the moon goddess would have retrieved it, and yet Astrid did so on her behalf.

’I see. I should tell Ashley the same thing since she has been doing the same.’

Astrid did not say anything more, and Valerie’s attention shifted to Denzel as she tried to explain it to him.

"Denzel, I guess we have to wait for Burke to bring the car."

"Alright. Please give me the phone," Denzel said, holding on with questions until the problem at hand was resolved.

Valerie picked up the phone for him but paused a little. "Why don’t we try again? Astrid is upset because I used my powers for experimentation. I won’t be surprised if she’s the cause of all this."

Denzel sighed, pressed the start button again, and voila, the engine roared into action. "Now I’m getting scared of you and your wolf. If you have problems, then she’s gonna break down our car?"

Valerie laughed. Denzel’s expression was serious, but his words were funny, so she explained it to him once again.

"She said I could do wonders in a war, but the powers are not for experimentation."

"Then how do you know the extent to which they can be used?" Denzel asked curiously. Valerie shook her head, though she had a fair idea.

"I didn’t know I could travel with them until there was an emergency requiring it. I guess that’s what she’s talking about."

Yeah, Denzel remembered that they hadn’t even talked about it, but she did so by her intuition because Ashley was in trouble.

After careful thought, they both agreed it was unfair to waste such powers.

Arriving at the Litha Moon pack, they were received by Luna Fernanda, and with the Litha Moon Pack being one of the places where Alpha Denzel was always comfortable, it was all joy as they prepared for the coronation.

Valerie had a chat with Ashley when she went to her room. "Val, my powers ceased. Since you were coming over, I didn’t want you to panic, which was why I never told you."

Ashley was both worried and afraid that she did something wrong, but it only gave Valerie a deeper understanding of everything that was happening.

"It happened to me too, and it’s because of the experimentation. You should stop," Valerie warned seriously, grateful that there were no wars at the moment. If not, they would have had to rely on their wolves and combat skills only.

A relief sigh escaped Ashley, the fact that all hope was not lost, and there was indeed a solution to the problem.

"Oh, I see, but how do I know what to do when the need arises?" She asked, Valerie responded with a smile.

"Your good intention to help would make them do whatever you want them to do."

Ashley nodded her head in understanding, glad that Valerie had a solution beforehand.

"Val, Idris ordered three dresses for me to choose from. They are all so gorgeous; I want to wear them together," Ashley giggled.

Valerie was glad that Idris was spoiling her elder sister and responded as she saw the three stunning gowns.

"Ash, I’m equally confused. Maybe you should close your eyes. I would change the position of the three dresses, and whichever one you touch would be what you wear."

"That is a great idea," Ashley readily agreed. Valerie did as told, and Ashley decided to wear the dress she touched after Valerie changed the positions.

Later that evening, Alpha Denzel’s phone rang, and seeing Godic’s number, he answered it, but what he heard was unexpected.
