The smile was wiped from Valerie’s face, replaced by a frown, as she quickly looked around, not seeing anything too deep a problem.
"What is the problem?" She asked with a worried expression, Ashley’s demeanor was stern, making even Adira confused.
"It’s you," Ashley said, Luna Valerie’s brows creased with greater confusion. "Me?"
Valerie wasn’t getting it, no matter how long she thought about it, most probably because she was tired and with time not being on their side, Ashley made it easy for her.
"Hurry and go change," Ashley nudged her, Valerie stepped out of her trance and quickly ran upstairs.
She had completely forgotten to freshen up and change from her casual clothes as well but could not let it affect Ashley so she spoke from upstairs.
"Take the lead. I will meet you there."
However, Ashley did not obey Valerie’s words, rather going back to help her sister change from the casual jean pants and blouse she wore before.
Valerie made her happy by making it so the least Ashley could do was delay the event just a little bit.
By the time they were done, Luna Fernanda had to rush in to check Ashley’s reason for delaying the guests but seeing her with Valerie, Luna Fernanda was exhilarated.
"Val, you made it," she pointed out, Valerie smiled with joy. "Yes, mom, I did."
Luna Alma had equally caught up, happy to see both of her daughters together and ready. "Oh, Ash and Val, I’m so proud of you both."
"Mom, today is Ash’s day so no need to include me." Valerie was making sure not to steal her elder sister’s limelight, even when Ashley did not care about it.
Joy took over the atmosphere, as Valerie and Adira walked ahead of Ashley. As soon as Alpha Denzel saw Valerie, his manners flew out of the window and he broke protocols by running to her side.
In his all-black suit, he looked ravishing but Valerie was slightly guilty for having kept him in the dark, after realizing how much she had been missed.
"I’m sorry. Everything happened so fast, I ...." Before she could complete the sentence, Alpha Denzel’s lips crashed onto hers in a deep passionate kiss, attendees could not hold back taking pictures of one of the romantic moments of Alpha Denzel.
The last time they saw him being so romantic was during Valerie’s coronation but who thought that someone like him could do something like this?
"It doesn’t matter that you couldn’t call. Having you back is more important than anything else."
Valerie was so touched by his words that she leaned in for another kiss which lasted until Alpha Lawn cleared his throat audibly to alert them of their location.
Youth of nowadays were so different from those of old. Someone like Alpha Denzel even forgot his manners when his excitement kicked in but guess what? He had no regret.
Valerie smiled shyly after pulling away but Alpha Denzel was rather unmoved, leading her to their chair.
Even when he was unsure about her return, he still reserved a chair for her, right next to his.
Alpha Troy had equally led Adira to their chair, asking anxiously, "how was it? Positive or negative."
He had fiercely been awaiting that news and could not believe that Adira had forgotten to inform him.
Adira thought to prank him a little and responded. "Negative."
Troy’s expression dulled but he smiled. "Okay then I will send you to the doctor when we get home to find out the reason for your being like this.
Adira smiled and replied. "Just kidding, I’m pregnant."
"Yeah, I’m going to be a dad," Alpha Troy yelled unconsciously, Adira was so embarrassed but everyone began clapping for them with heartwarming messages.
"Congratulations. You two make the perfect couple."
Alpha Denzel was also very happy for them. This news meant there was going to be more allies for them in the future. A pup meant the era of a new generation.
Ashley finally made her entry for the ceremony to begin and as usual, onlookers began to panic.
"I don’t see any difference between the sisters. They are both so stunning," one of the attendees said, another one agreed.
"Indeed. Alpha Idris is so lucky to have the sister-in-law of Alpha Denzel. This means he also has the support and protection of the Evergreen pack."
Her voice stemmed from jealousy, even at the joyful moment.
Majority were still genuinely happy for them as another person countered. "Did you forget that Alpha Denzel and Alpha Idris were cousins? Even if this union did not happen, the Litha Moon Pack would still have Alpha Denzel and the Evergreen pack’s support."
A lot of people agreed with his statement but did not voice it.
Such things only spiraled chaos sometimes and most people loved peace, which they did not want to lose.
Sadly, most of the Lunas were not in Valerie’s united group and could not be happy for the strength they were seeing.
Some of them wanted to be close to Valerie but it was too late. They had done too much harm that made it difficult for them to be trusted.
Whoever was not Valerie’s friend in her worst time could not be in her best time. The time she lost her wolf was when she needed friends but they were never there for her.
Ashley and Idris completed their exchange of vows and just as they finished with the blood covenant, and were about to take their seats to prepare for refreshment, a strange noise was heard and the ground began to shake as if there was an earthquake.
"What is going on?" Ashley asked with resolve.
No matter what it was, this was her pack and she had to defend it but Alpha Denzel and Luna Valerie were already on their feet, searching for the source of the noise but when they saw it, even Alpha Denzel felt fear for the first time.
