Alpha Denzel kissed the crook of her neck, making her relax as much as possible before another contraction kicked in.
They worked together as a team, as if he knew exactly what she was going through. His gestures were in sync with what she needed at that point in time, and his words were the fuel.
"Let’s do this together, my love." He felt the tightness of her belly, her nervousness, pain, and everything. She might not have her wolf, but he easily put himself in her shoes.
This was his mate, the only woman he ever had in his bed. If anyone knew her better, then that was Alpha Denzel.
Knowing how intense her pains had gotten, he tried every means to relax her, including reminding her of her strength.
"I remember that woman who walked on coals and killed all those men even when her wolf died. We can do this, right?" He asked in deep breaths, Valerie nodded her head, forcing a smile.
She knew she could do it, and besides, she was not alone. Everyone present was there because of her, to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
Alpha Denzel was timing the contractions, and when another one was yet to kick in, he encouraged her.
"Okay. Let’s give this our best shot, right?"
"Yeah," Valerie said through painful pants, Alpha Denzel sighed. "Take a deep breath and let’s do it together."
Valerie took a deep breathe, the same time the contraction kicked in, using the pain to push so hard, the pup sprang out but was quickly grabbed by the doctor, who had been on high alert.
Never had he seen any she-wolf deliver so fast and bravely. The Alpha and Luna indeed made a very great team.
Alice fainted instantly, but being with Burke, he held her, looking as pale as a ghost himself. They were not even close, only watching everything from the entrance where they still stood after entering the room.
This whole thing made Burke feel that he had a lot to learn in taking good care of his mate.
Alpha Denzel was so exceptional, and his way of helping deliver the pup showed a lot of experience.
However, everyone knew that this was his first pup, meaning that he had researched a lot and applied the knowledge at the right time.
Their Luna delivered as a human, but it was faster than that of she-wolves, thanks to Raven’s herbs, Denzel’s support, and her own stubborn bravery.
"Congratulations, Alpha and Luna, the pack’s pup is here," the doctor announced when the cry of the pup filled the air. Everyone had joyful tears in their eyes when he was being cleaned.
Alice had regained consciousness through Raven’s help, and Burke quickly recovered from the shock.
As the pack’s beta, he had a responsibility to perform at a time like this and quickly did so, spreading the message through mindlink.
’The pack’s pup is here. To the pack house, everybody.’
Burke had read from the pack’s constitution that this was supposed to be done as soon as the pup was birthed.
He never witnessed it done but still remembered the steps from what he read. Alpha Denzel knew about this and lifted Valerie from the tub when the pup was being cleaned and dressed.
The doctor took care of the placenta and everything else but was covered with a curtain. Denzel was always cautious about exposing his woman’s nakedness, creating privacy for everything to be done.
Raven was also on high alert but did not know that part about introducing the pack’s pup since this was the first pack she ever joined.
However, when she noticed that Valerie wanted to sleep, she quickly gave her another herb.
"Luna, this will help you to heal faster, even before your wolf returns." Valerie’s sleep will be long and peaceful, but after waking up, she will feel refreshed with no pain at all.
’I’m already here, and I must say that I missed you a lot,’ Astrid said. Valerie smiled faintly before responding to Raven.
"She’s already here." Then she said to Astrid.
’I must confess that I missed you a lot, but Denzel took care of everything.’ Thinking of it, Alpha Denzel took the position of her wolf, and now, she felt a lot better than before.
Astrid was excited to be back and was not surprised by the news Valerie gave. ’I knew he would. Our mate is exceptional.’
Burke finished his part and alerted Alpha Denzel immediately about it. "Alpha, the pack members are here."
"For what?" Alpha Denzel knew but did not want to take his pup out in the snow when he was born human.
Werewolves had a strong resistance to the cold, but he could not say the same for a pup who did not have his wolf yet.
"Alpha, according to the pack’s tradition, the pup must be announced by the Alpha as soon as it’s born under the full moon. Today is a full moon."
"But it’s snowing outside," Alpha Denzel reminded him. Burke was a little confused. Since when did the Alpha begin to care so much about the weather or was even limited by it?
"It should still be done," Valerie said weakly.
If today was not the full moon, then it would have made sense to wait, but at this time, there was no need to do so, and the pack members were already gathered and waiting for this.
"Alright, if you say so," Alpha Denzel agreed.
The pup was dressed in very warm clothes, so Alpha Denzel carried him in his arms. As soon as their bodies came into contact, the newborn pup smiled.
A tear fell from Alpha Denzel’s eyes. The love between them was so strong, it broke him.
Never did he think of loving a male pup so much, but this one made him do so. "I love you so much. If your mom agrees, then you shall be called Denver Denzel."
"Sounds good to me," Valerie said weakly before drinking the herbs Raven made her and closed her eyes to sleep.
Denzel did not want to disturb her anymore, but reaching outside, Alpha Denzel’s voice echoed around the pack house, jolting Valerie from the sleep that almost took her.
"Val, you have to see this!"
