Valerie was momentarily stunned, but Alessia was stupefied for a moment. Godic was good-looking and fierce but had a tired look on his face.

Alessia longed to meet her mate, and now that he was here, her joy knew no bounds, and her wolf was doing a joyful dance.

"I’m Godic, Alpha Denzel’s most trusted bodyguard and confidante. I am based in Las Vegas," Godic introduced himself, ready to pull her into his arms before he halted at Alessia’s introduction.

"I am Alessia, Beta of this pack, and sister of the Alpha."

She could feel the mate bond so strongly that if not for her injured brother, she would have dragged Godic to her room to begin the mating process.

Godic was speechless. His mate was more beautiful beyond anything he ever imagined, but her birth concerned him greatly.

Though being Alpha Denzel’s right-hand man, he doubted that he would entrust his sister to her. Thus, Godic was scared.

His wolf, who had been asleep for long because of all his time in the human world, began to urge him.

’She’s ours. Let’s mark her.’

’The Alpha would be upset. Stay down,’ he said to his wolf before focusing his attention on the stunning woman before him.

"Alpha Denzel has a sister?" Godic seemed surprised as he never knew of this secret. Alpha Denzel had told no one until that massacre day.

Valerie, being a Luna with experience, could already discern Godic’s thoughts. "Like I said, you have spent a lot of time in the human world. I would join the medical team," Valerie said and ran off.

Godic waited for his mate to the point where he gave up. In as much as he was ready to claim Alessia, he feared because of Alpha Denzel.

Alessia was beginning to have mixed feelings because of Godic’s behavior. It was as if he did not want her or was she reading wrongly?

’Shall we be marked tonight?’ Her wolf excitedly asked. Alessia was lost for words but heard Godic asking, "Shall we go?"

Alessia smiled shyly. "Of course."

Due to the hours spent in transporting him, Alpha Denzel was still unconscious and was rushed to the intensive care unit. Valerie waited right in front of it. No matter what, she was determined to stay by his side all through.

The gamma and delta, Burke and Gandolf, arrived. Seeing Godic, they were stunned and yelled together, "Godic?"

Alessia frowned a little but gave them some space, though her ears were attentive to their words.

She and Godic had very important things to discuss, and until that was done, she did not want to let him out of her sight.

"Burke, Gandolf, how have you been?" Godic hugged his former comrades, his heart thumping wildly.

Alessia was too good for him, but he could not reject her but was also afraid of what Alpha Denzel might say.

"Things have been good. I’m now the gamma, and he is the Delta," Burke spoke, pointing at Gandolf before asking, "did you fly that thing? Wow, the Alpha must be treating you well."

"Yes, he does, but I don’t think I can stay for long. There are a lot of things to take care of on the other side," Godic responded curtly.

To Alessia’s understanding, Godic was going to leave without marking her and asked directly,

"What do you mean you can’t stay?"

Godic did not know how to express his fears to her, but Valerie intervened in the awkward moment.

"Alessia, did you not talk about wanting to go to Las Vegas? Godic, at least you should wait until Alpha Denzel wakes up. I know there is a lot to do, but don’t you trust your men?" She asked Godic keenly.

Perhaps, Alessia could travel with her mate for the first time. Godic might be busy, but Alessia was equally tough and smart.

Since she was already managing the pack business, she could also be trained to manage the business there.

Valerie would still have to seek Alpha Denzel’s approval, so all she could do at the moment was to make Godic wait.

"I do have competent men, but I have to charge my gadgets," Godic said nervously, doubting that Alpha Denzel would allow Alessia to go with him.

"So, let’s go to my room," Alessia proposed. Seeing her mate, she wanted to at least be marked, and so did Godic.

However, Godic knew that should he be in a closed space with Alessia, not even his fear of Alpha Denzel would stop him from marking her.

"Your room? No. I would check on my family first and charge the gadgets there," he said and left with Burke. He was afraid that if he stayed, he might just change his mind.

Alessia was saddened, seeing him walk away with Burke and Gandolf. She asked Valerie. "Do you think he would reject me?"

Valerie shook her head and patted her on the shoulder. "He dares not. I believe he’s just afraid of your brother."

"Oh." Alessia hummed. She forgot that her brother was the Alpha, and naturally, Godic would be afraid of him.

Valerie did not enter the pack house since her return. Alessia had to bring her food and clothes as she showered at the hospital washroom.

It took forty-two hours before Alpha Denzel opened his eyes, and even without knowing, the only word that escaped him was, "Val."

"Denzel. You are awake." Her lips instantly met his, but he was very weak. "I will call the doctor," Valerie said as she had eagerly waited for this moment.

The doctor arrived, and after careful examination, he said to Denzel, "It would be good if you can shift. The silver is completely out of your system, and your wolf needs strength.

"What are you talking about?" Alpha Denzel asked, slightly confused. He could not move and could not understand why. The doctor explained.

"The bullets were silver bullets."

He stiffened instantly, and his mind went back to the events of that night. He would find the culprit for as long as they breathed the same air as him.

It would not matter which part of the earth they were located. "No wonder. I felt weaker than I ever did after being shot. I have to call Godic."

"He’s around. I told him not to leave. There is something important he has to tell you," Valerie said seriously at the same time, Alpha Denzel heard a mindlink coming through.

"Alpha, Alpha Kendrick is here. Says our Luna is his mate."
