"Mahira, what are you doing here?" Ashley asked with a surprised look. Mahira walked to the front and lifted her hand, about to slap Ashley when Alpha Idris caught it, his gaze dark.
"How dare you try to hit her? Your future Luna?" His voice dripped with venom, but Ashley was in a daze, as she had not even tried to defend herself.
When Alpha Idris was a bad boy, Mahira was one of his playthings, so naturally, she was envious of Mahira.
With her head lowered, Mahira spoke up. "Alpha Idris, you would not make her your Luna if you knew the kind of woman she is."
Alpha Idris knew that everyone had a past, and he also knew that Ashley was fun-loving, which was why she left the pack for Vegas.
Whatever she did there did not matter to him, as they had already spoken about it. He had hinted about his past before accepting Alpha Denzel’s help, and though he had not gone into details, Ashley equally did not care.
"Now that is where you are wrong. Whatever she did in Vegas remains in Vegas. What matters is her life after we both discovered we were each other’s mates."
Mahira was not buying that and went ahead to reveal. "Alpha, are you saying that you would make a sex worker who not only slept with multiple men but also forced younger women into it a Luna?"
"You got it all wrong, Mahira, I had good reasons for everything I did," Ashley cut in, turning emotional, but Mahira was far from giving up and was about to speak when Alpha Idris cut in again.
"I said the past is in the past." His Alpha tone thundered through the pack, but Mahira only turned pitiful.
"Alpha Idris, if you care about the she-wolves in this pack, then this is not the kind of Luna to give us."
About to respond to Mahira’s drama, Ashley cut in. "Mahira, let’s go talk somewhere. I will explain everything to you. If you dare to speak lies about me in front of my pack, I would have no choice but to banish you."
Mahira laughed, but it was filled with mockery, confidence radiating through her that the person who would be put to shame was Ashley and she was undeserving of the position of a Luna.
"Alpha Idris, it’s well understood that Alpha Denzel is your cousin and his Luna is her sister. Of course, you would close your eyes to the truth because you want to protect a so-called harlot and even make her your Luna."
Ashley was enraged. "Be careful what you call me, Mahira. If you know me well enough, then you would understand that power means nothing to me. If not, I would not have left it all."
At this juncture, the pack members’ interest had peaked, and Alpha Idris was concerned about the honor of his mate, as things like this quickly traveled to other packs.
The two women spoke so fast that he got no opportunity to chip in his opinion.
"Ashley, if you are indeed innocent of all that I am about to reveal, then let my head be cut off my neck and fed to the vultures," Mahira declared, and the pack members panicked.
"Are you sure you really want it that way?" Ashley asked.
This was something that pressed so much on her that she never wanted anyone to know, but with her dignity trashed in front of her mate, his family, and pack, Ashley had to endure it all and tell the truth.
Mahira felt victorious, as Ashley had no idea of what she was planning. She put forward.
"Before we continue, why don’t you call your sister and brother-in-law on the phone? Tell them that you have been accused and should you be found guilty, your head would be cut off your neck and fed to the vultures?"
She was making sure that if Ashley was caught in the trap, not even Alpha Denzel or Luna Valerie would be able to save her, and the Litha Moon Pack would also not be guilty of her blood.
Alpha Idris did not want to lose his mate no matter what after waiting for so long and quickly countered. "I forbid such a thing from happening."
"I second it," Luna Fernanda added her voice.
"I also agree with Idris," Alpha Rick added his voice, but Ashley already dialed Valerie’s number and put it on speaker.
"Ashley, guess where we are?" Luna Valerie’s excited voice rang from the end of the line. Ashley forced a smile and asked,
"Is Denzel there?"
Valerie noticed that something was off and was instantly serious. Ashley had not answered her question but rather asked about Denzel.
"Yes, he is. Is there a problem?"
"Please put the phone on speaker." Alpha Idris was about to snatch the phone from her.
"Ashley, please let me handle this."
Ashley dodged his hand that was about to hold the phone as Alpha Denzel’s voice was heard.
"Ashley, what’s going on? Is Idris misbehaving?"
Those who heard his voice were touched. Due to Alpha Denzel’s nature, it was always touching when he showed care.
Ashley smiled sadly. "No, on the contrary, I’m the bad girl."
"I think Idris is experienced enough to handle you," Alpha Denzel said, recalling how they met in Vegas.
Ashley was a wild chick, and he was realizing that in his life, two women gave him the worst embarrassment, and those were Valerie and Ashley.
Valerie slapped him in front of his warriors, and Ashley embarrassed him at the club. Perhaps he was cursed to be embarrassed by two sisters.
As he reminisced over the past, it was rather funny, but what Ashley said next broke his heart, and he instantly reversed the car, even as they were close to the rogue community.
"I want you both to know that I have been accused, and if I am found guilty, my blood should not be demanded from any member of the Litha Moon Pack. This is my decision."
Ashley switched off the phone, and her claws elongated as they pierced through her palm, her blood dripped on the floor, confirming her oath.
She stared at Mahira and asked, "Did you forget? The earth must bear witness to this vow. Drop your blood."
Mahira laughed, removed a dagger from her pocket, and stabbed herself in the palm, allowing her blood to drip. "Confirmed. But just so you know, I have witnesses."
She snapped a finger, and four girls Ashley had known in Vegas ran to the front. Her heart stopped instantly as she realized that she had been trapped.
